Yes. Just keep thinking that. There is no growing Grot menace. We . . . I mean they . . . are no threat to the world of the pink skins.

I guess it's safe to assume most the Kharadron hail from Chamon due to it being the only realm sufficient enough to supply this much materials for such contraptions.
I wonder if the majority of Chamon is like a Warhammerfied Fallout world, where most of the (surviving) population and chaos warriors have a rather steampunk feel. Clan Skryre should feel right at home. Damn that is cool to imagine.

Yes indeed. The place is bristling with metals, not only the ground but the sky itself. When gold forms massive clouds you can think it's not safe to breath without protection.

While you're right that they seem to have used the hexagonal cloth texture as on the airship hoses on his arms, I believe that the naked dwarf admiring the suit of armor IS specifically the Khemyst. Look at the armor, it's identical.

It's the altitude, not the air. Similar to how high altitude on Earth will literally boil your blood.

"You won’t see a single scrap of flesh on them – every inch of their bodies is clad in armour or complex suits, so as to protect them from the harsh environments found in the magic-infused skies of the Mortal Realms."
Considering the magical places and the altitude in the mortal realms, you can see why they are always wearing them.

Wow the AoS skies sound so cool of a place to explore. It's really reminding me of sunless skies a lot. I know nothing about the AoS lore. What book do I want to read to get the gist of the setting? In the 40k core rules they have the lore book. Is there any book for AoS that gives me the overview?

Uhm... there's plenty. Realmgate Wars campaign books will give you a tour to the events that lead to the current status quo. Fairly solid books, though the early ones aren't as good as the late ones (All-gates does signficantly improve quality wise). There's a book called the Age of Sigmar which does explain the basic gist and it's okay but nothing to write home. I think what hurts the lore is that this "general" book that I'm talking about that came at the beginning wasn't really great (it's okay, but it doesn't automatically invest you in the narrative, you need a build-up like I did coming from BT ironjawz).

I would have to recommend the city of secrets novel it's a good intro to this phase of the fluff and it lends itself better to the previous books. I personally feel it's a good pilot novel for those getting into AOS, it gives you some idea on how the races live, the factions and the things they have to deal with.

I don't have time to read novels like that. I was looking more for a small gist of it book and it sounds like the generic age of sigmar book is what I'm looking for. Thanks Kragan. I do have my Beastclaw Raiders battletomb and have read the Ironjaws one, but I still feel a little lost about the realm gates.
Is this all one world? Or is each one its own plane of existence? Ect.

To give you answers: no, this is not one world. They are multiple "universes"/dimensions. Each varies in extension and form. Ghur seems to be a single planet while Chamon, Aqshy and Azyr definitely have multiple ones. The best analogous you can think of is that the realms are like the worlds of Yggdrassil in the norse mythology.

Indeed, I noted in one of the AoS threads that some images of Yggdrasil even resemble the Skaven artwork of the realms being represented by spheres and that both the city of Azyrheim and Asgard are shown wrapped around important objects. (The Old world for the former and the world tree for the latter.)
Also, why we're talking about the realm of metal, can anyone explain why this pic was in the Sylvaneth book? Really wanted to know the significance.

Yup this is the best comparison. Skaven "tunnels" between the realms, well these are clan pestelins Yggdrasil in norse mythology. I mean bloody hell sigmar is pretty much "odin" in a sense.
