TFGs and tools in every army. Not like we have a disproportionate share, but we’ve got them.

I personally have no issues with the Ward dex. Ward writes good rules, and even his fluff is nowhere near as bad as people say. And I'm saying this as someone who has never played a power armored army. (unless battlesuits count)

I dunno, the GK dex was not only SUPER broken but had horrendously TERRIBLE fluff (the blood tide? Draigo being the ultimate ULTIMATE mary sue badass warrior with no equal?)

Would be interesting if he has great attachment to Ultramarines too - it'd be great if he was one of the people who got really mad at the ending for Space Marine

I played a SM player about 10 years ago who claimed my Orks were OP. He was just too broke to afford better models and it was my green tide against tac squads and bikes.
He officially made TFG status when he tried to bring a unit of like 20 Jump infantry claiming they were "free" because of some space marine rule or something. My Megaboss still krumped them though.

Agreed. UM players have gotten a bad rep for being Matt Ward's favourite Chapter (and the fluff exaggerations he submitted) and the reputation of us being the army for Little Timmy.

There may be a lot of TFG SM players, but that's mainly because there is a lot of SM players in general. If 1% of each faction is TFG, and SM has the largest player base, of course SM will have the most TFGs.

We apologise on behalf of these cases.

Sounds like he identifies too closely with his movie marines, they're each little fragments of his ego. Maybe he should play Necrons. Anyway, anything which can actually hurt them should not be allowed since each marine lost is a piece of his self worth.

Local meta can be a weird thing. I've had someone tell me that my Deepstriking Lightning Claw Terminators and Pre-Errata Furioso Dreads were OP while he was using a Thunderwolf Lord backed my MSU Grey Hunters with Special Weapons in Drop Pods.

In that specific situation his wolf lord didn't have a Storm shield or Runic Armor, and his Grey Hunters had packed plasma guns in response to my terminators, but ended up scattering next to the dreadnoughts when my Terminators came in a turn late and they came in a turn early.

You are in direct control of how frustrating your conversations are. Instead of letting him dictate the rules of the conversation by saying what he will or will not listen to while spewing all his nonsense, start by telling him you are willing to have a regular discusion, but if he is not then "shut up. Go complain to someone else."

I have come across many SM players who feel similar to Dave about Chaos Marines. In my experience it's the universal hatred that really twists their tits.

Turbo-Penetrator: 0.5 to wound
Hellfire: 0.8333 to wound

Vs 3+, 4++:

Shield Breaker: 1 to injure
Turbo-Penetrator: 0.5 to injure, 0.66 to inflict 2+ wounds
Hellfire: 0.5 to injure

Overall against 3+, 4++ target:

Shield Breaker has a 0.4583 chance to inflict 1 wound.
Turbo-Penetrator has a 0.2292 chance to injure; 0.0756 chance to inflict 3 wounds.
Hellfre has a 0.3819 chance to inflict 1 wound.

It details the chances of a Vindicare assassin successfully injuring an unupgraded SM captain, if both models were in a vacuum. Given that Dave vehemently despises the Vinidcare for being "able" to one-shot a SM captain, and that this guy is proud of his statistics qualifications, I am going to present him with the evidence.

Evidence that a 150 point Vindicare is not OP.
If he refutes the argument, then he is not worth talking to about 40k ever again. If he follows it, then we may be getting somewhere.

The flaw in your reasoning is that you assume he understands anything about probability.

Yet you stated he is baffled by failing a 2+ save.

Edit: If he has actual qualifications in statistics, I question the educational capabilities of whatever facility graduated him.

These sound like typical marine complaints and I understand them. Space marines are actually not a very good army. The majority of their units are pitifully bad.

They can make mega deathstars and have a good horde formation - nothing more. Space wolves are a different story because they have thunder-wolves - still though - we are talking about death-stars.

Just take a space marine CAD and see how you do against an IG gun line...You will get smoked every time. I know because it's happend to me dozens of times.

This is a guy who still uses 5E rhino rush.

With Grav, Sternguard and lots of long range weapons, but still a methul bawks army.

And IG is terrible at handling it.
