I haven't decided what I want to do with my Watch Captain Artemis. I REALLY hate Marines-Without-Helmets, but characters are the lone exceptions to that. If I do give him a helmet, it is going to be thwhat awesome crested helmet from the Upgrade Sprue, but I am leaning toward just keeping him without the helmet and using that helmet to signify Watch Sergeants.

Also, I have decided that Zameon Gydrael is going to be redone with a Bolter and a Xenophase Blade. The Blade is going to be on the outstretched arm, making it look like he is charging into combat, and I will cut away his Power Sword to make room for the Boltgun in his right hand.

There is rumor that there may be more than one, but nobody knows. The solitaire is more than capable of being in multiple places at once.

So what do people reckon to the Corvus? Can get a little pricey are some of the upgrades worth it or would you take it bare? Reroll jinks is nice and cheap though!

The Infernum Halo-Launcher is basically a must. The rest is gravy. I will probably run mine with the Rocket Launcher and the Auspex Array in addition to the Infernum, but those are completely required.

Where you have read there's just one? Everywhere I have read refers them in multiples. Don't have eldar codex with me but from wiki:

they are doom incarnate
The Solitaires, as their name implies, are solitary individuals

Would be pretty hard to ensure there's only one solitaire going on around as they would somehow have to wait confirmated death(they do die) before selecting new one.

Solitaires are rare, but there are more than one.

Yeah, no travelling band of Harlequins would normally have multiple and many would not have one (bad luck and all that) but they are hardly alone in the universe.

There's always been supposed to be one Solitaire per harlequin troupe, IIRC the original fluff.

Yes Solitaires are not alone in the universe... But in the new fluff they are not part of a masque...
they travel the webway alone and they join themasques when needed...

Harlequins are not a bad army but they would need a little tweaking... in the elites they could have the suqads called mimes (you coulddo it with the same troupes box limiting some wargear to mimes, like in troupes only thetroupe master can get some weapons and the troupers can get only some options and in limited number while mimes are free to equip all they want) and some HQ options too (like the high avatar and shadowseer moved here)... i the old army list harlequins had a wraithlord option toothat could be hot to add...

Yeah. They make plays(as in performances) of eldar fall and all. Hard to do that without somebody doing role of Slaanesh. And solitaire is that guy.

Wait, are the rumored Upcoming Deathwatch releases cheapter/same price with DW sprue?

- The Blood Angel Lib in Termi is 30$ and according to Natfka the new one is 25$
- The Rhino/Razorback is same price as a regular Razorback including DW sprue.
- The Termis are 50$ with 3 DW sprues, same as regular Termis
- Watchmaster and Chaplain are both 25$, most recent character like the Tech Priest or Broodlord have been 30$+
- Bikes are cheaper per model and include the DW sprue

maybe GW got back to their senses and will even the Prices for Characters to an acceptable level?

Prices: http://natfka.blogspot.de/2016/08/this-weeks-releases-details-and-box.html

Yeh prices were leaked before. Small steps toward getting tad more sensible so rather than ridiculously overpriced you have only heavily overpriced.

They don't reduce prices of existing models to appease investors but new products are fair game...Even if new product is old repackaged with new sprue.

or girl presumably

It used to be that they could only perform the "Great Dance" in its full measure if a Solitare joined them - normally they couldn't. They have a large amount of dances and stories that do not include Slaanesh as a player.

Got my death masque box today, and I'm another of the damaged rule book club. GW responded almost immediately to my email and are sending out a replacement. Can't fault their customer service.

Nice. I hope I am in the extra sprues club more than the damaged rulebook club. I have had a damaged rulebook before, but not enough to raise a stink about.

Can anyone give me a breakdown of the chapter shoulder pads on the sprues? I'm currently writing a deathwatch novel/fanfiction and plan to make them models as well, and these are the planned (Power Armour) guys I'm looking to make

Black Templar
Ultramarines x2
Angels of Absolution
White Scars (Warriders customer)
Blood Raven (can get from Overkill)
Ragnar Blackmane Space Wolf
Black Shield
Raptors
Crimson Fists
Blood Angel
Generic skull pad
Genesis

Just looking to see how many of these I'll get from the kits and if I'll need to source/sculpt any of my own

I was hoping that too haha, alas I just had a tatty rule book and a broken sprue GW have promised to replace both. Since the book was one of the main draws I wanted it to be tidy.

they feel like more expensive devastator squads but they are deathwatch....just not seeing what makes them special.

You might be right on power.

But those Frag Cannons are so fething cool, and I'm not the best at taking the most competitive list when I own a cool model!

Spoiler:

I want 8 of them to split across 2 podding squads. "In yo face, Xenos Scum!"

Maybe 5 veterans in a pod, trade their Boltguns for Meltaguns, and knives for Boltguns? That way they still can fire special ammo, and can hunt tanks in their spare time.

That might be better than Sternguard, since they get a second shot, but Ultramarines/Star Phantoms tactics are hard to beat for pod units...

aquila kill teams reroll failed to wound/armor pen rolls of 1 with no limit. toss in a libby and hope for the TL psychic power, and you have pretty much rerolls on everything (for added fun, hellfire bolts on stalker bolters for a chance at AP2 2+ rerollable wounds on cheaper units meant to sit back)

Sure, but then your melta pod unit costs 290 instead of 195 for the Sternguard, since you can just slot a Sternguard squad into a marine list you are already running.

If you are already running a Deathwatch list, sure, might as well. But it's kind of hard to justify them as allies to most Imperial forces when there's a better option, usually within the same army list.

Though, if you want to run Sternguard Veterans: the army, this is probably better than a 1st Company detachment.

Maybe my problem is that I'm trying to figure out how to best run them alongside my Skyhammer.

There is little that one marine dex will do to improve another marine dex. Other than Battul Brothar shenanigans.

Maybe. As pointed out above, 5 Sternguard with Combi-Meltas still have the special ammo and the melta shots.

I would look at DeathWatch as "What does this codex do that my Black Templars can't?"

Cozy cockpit of an Archer ARC-5S

I may just get the codex, a single box of five and a Watch Captain or whatever the guy with the spear is called for games of Kill-team and a kick-ass Knight Errant for Horus Heresy games.

Been perusing over my codex all afternoon. I really like it. It kind of feels like how all marines should be. Small elite forces that can ally into imperial guard armies.

Sure you could make a big force of them, but I plan on making a black spear with a watch captain and one kill team, they will all go in a drop ship. I might even make a drop pod for the dreadnought too. Who knows.
