I'm sort of scared to follow the new at this point, the idea of him winning makes me physically ill. People keep saying she's a guaranteed win, but it is far too close for comfort.
For the people voting for 3rd party candidates, we have no way of knowing who'd they'd pick between the 2. Sure they could shift it to hillarys favor, or they could just increase trumps lead. I'm more curious about utah tonight and he'll show that Florida could have went for Joe Exotic if all those people who wasted their votes on trump had voted for him instead.
We know people who voted 3rd party had the opportunity to pick either and chose not to. Those aren't lost votes for Clinton or Trump those are votes they never had in the first place.

We're looking at a GOP controlled Congress.
So that either means we have a Clinton presidency with a GOP Congress, which means we'll have more of the same for the next four years, unless we get a big swing in 2018. And it'll probably be worse. So get ready for another anti-government demagogue to come along in 2020.
Or we get a Trump presidency with a GOP Congress. And I'm freaking out thinking about that. If you're gay, or an immigrant, or anyone remotely brown, or a woman, or anyone who was Anti-Trump, get ready to have your rights curtailed.
You do realize the GOP congress kinda hates Trump, right?
It's clearly better to drink your own kool-aid and start panicking than to keep a level head.
No matter who is elected, both have massive disapproval numbers. The winner will be a weak President and likely a one-term President at that.

Aside from being a completely idiotic statement, how do you expect Trump to curtail civil rights? Seriously, explain to me exactly how it gets done.
How about banning Muslims, for a start?
Er, 'scuse me, 'extreme vetting'.
And before we get into 'he just meant immigrants', no, he talked about banning Muslim citizens from re-entering the country, and then he walked it back.
How is this so close? Even if Clinton wins, the fact that Donald Trump got this close to the Presidency is disturbing.

Easy. All the Republican party has to do is continue their march towards turning our democracy into a theocracy. The GOP has proven quite willing to completely ignore the separation clause.

Local (ex)politicians and pundits were on the radio complaining about how gerrymandering has made many local races not really races at all as there would be no way for someone else to win in those areas. That, and other elements, made them lament that the story in my state this year is that while people bitch and moan about wanting good people they what they really do is ignore the actual people running and look at the letter behind their name.

Umm, what? Saying someone has a 28% chance doesn't mean it's wrong when it happens. That's like saying its wrong that a D4 has a 25% chance of rolling a one, because when you rolled the die it came up a 1. 28% means it is something with a real chance of happening, it is less likely than not, but it is possible.
And it's happening exactly how Silver said it could - because Trump could out-perform his polls in the swing states, and if he does so then he will likely also threaten a win or two among Clinton's firewall, which was nowhere near as strong as many had assumed.

I still do not think he will be wrong.

Can't force citizens to leave the country nor prohibit them from practicing their religion. As for foreigners, nobody has a "right" to come to America, just like I don't have a "right" to go to Norway or India.
Again, no rights violated. Foreigners don't have any right to come to the USA just as Americans don't have any right to go to another country, even Canada.
Spinner wrote:And before we get into 'he just meant immigrants', no, he talked about banning Muslim citizens from re-entering the country, and then he walked it back.
Can't be done. The President doesn't have the authority. He can't even prohibit "undesirable" Americans from being deported back to us from foreign countries.
Spinner wrote:How is this so close? Even if Clinton wins, the fact that Donald Trump got this close to the Presidency is disturbing.
It's this close because Hillary is an awful person as is Trump.
sirlynchmob wrote:except they do, People have had their right to vote taken away and their right to own guns.
Who, other than convicted felons. The only previous time a group has had their rights curtailed was the Japanese-Americans interned during WWII - and that was a Democrat that did that with Congressional approval. Trump couldn't pull that off in his wildest fever dreams.
sirlynchmob wrote:Plus you just need to declare someone a terrorist and ship them to cuba til they die of old age and never give them their right to a trial by their peers.
Because that's happened so many times in the past 14 years, right? Wait. It hasn't happened even once? Gosh.
You don't seem to understand how the Constitution works, do you? It takes a new amendment to eliminate an old one. An attempt to repeal the 19th Amendment wouldn't pass any State legislature. Well, maybe North Carolina but they're special like that.
