Does the 'Rhino' count as a 'pet' for a whole squad?

Very cool. I do enjoy assembling/painting rhino tanks.

Yeah, it's been pretty fun to put together, brushcommando. Kind of soothing when things fit together right. And i'm getting extra ambitious (for me). I'm going to paint the interior!

Hm...

YES!

Ahem, anyway, thank you Captain Brown! i actually had a lot of fun painting them. unfortunately i've been in a slump these past few days, painting wise and everything wise. but i did do this:

That is the plan for the interior of the rhino right now! they aren't glued down yet, need to finish painting them and the rest of the inside. I also want to see if i can pose one of the dogs inside to look like he's scratching at one of the doors.

To get out of a slump I will sometimes just do a group of models bases as it is easy, repetitive and at very least means that later when I am painting the legs and feet I won't get base paint on them.

So it is somewhat productive and sets you up for finishing the models later.

I like that interior set up. I mean, dispatching Astartes to raid a farmer's market might seem a bit extreme, but these are grimdark times...

Right? I mean, they gotta feed the pets somehow. Can't just feed them... space marine flakes?

Sometimes i wonder just how close to being renegades the void otters are...

That's a good idea, thanks!

Thank you! I love those kinds of minis too, but i've always let my lack of confidence get in the way of trying. no more!

But i um.... just today realized i put half of the rhino's treads on wrong. So until i fix that, here is a blurry progress update on the genestealer boys:

(the claws on the chimera are red, purple and rusty orange and it doesn't show up well here)

I'm thinking about giving some of the rats to them. That's right, genestealer cultists can have pets too!

some tyranid rippers would make good pets for them! ...shame they're kind of a pain to get hold of

love everything about this thread too by the way!...I've been lurking here for a while

Liking the diorama inside the rhino, a cool idea.

Cultists are looking great too. Rats for the cultists would be cool, they probably spend a lot of time hiding out in sewers waiting to ambush imperial forces.

Nice! Glad you were able to fix the lobster-tank.

Yeah, rippers would be pretty nice i think, ZoBo, but you're right about them being hard to get. None in my bits bags either so far as i can see. Thank you so much for the kind words!

edc: that was my thinking (about the rats). the genestealer cults are generally portrayed as underground dwellers. I've also got a few neat little snakes that might work well with them.

Here's a quick in progress of the rhino interior. changed some things, and i still have a lot of painting to do:

Getting there with the rhino interior.

Looking good! You can tell that rhino kit is from the nineties though. All the monitors are displaying the once-dreaded "blue screen of death"

Ha! yes.

Hm... i wonder if anyone ever made a fake windows 95 error thing referencing the machine spirit...

Meanwhile! Cult friends.

I forgot to finish the purple guy's face/

Lol. He knows it, and is positively turning purple with embarrassement. Side note, is the guy on the right sporting a lash whip from his shoulder or does he have a tail?

It's a lash whip! It was meant to look a bit tentaclish, i might rework it to make the hand part a bit less obvious

What otter madness is this!?

That is very worthy of 40k's creepy aesthetic. What do you plan to have him stand in for in-game?

Madness? Perhaps. Otterly ridicuo\lous? Almost definitely.

brushcommando wrote:That is very worthy of 40k's creepy aesthetic. What do you plan to have him stand in for in-game?

I'm not sure yet to be honest. He's quite big, almost twice the height of a marine! but obviously he can't be anything imperial. i was imagining it as a random xenos, but game-wise, he doesn't fit too well with any of my (two) armies. It's a conundrum.

Hmm. If you ever decide to run your cult guys as traitor guard He could stand in for an ogryn bodyguard? I imagine that a lot of the GSC models would work well as a lost and the damned style army using the imperial guard codex.

That's a good plan!

Well, i haven't had much going on painting or hobbywise lately. i am currently in the process of moving, and trying not to destroy all my little guys while doing so. The greatest challenge. But i don't want to let this blog languish too much, so here is one thing i've been working on! (still in progress as always)

And now, back to boxes.

Ugh. Moving and miniatures is always a stressful combo. Hope all goes well for you. Also, nice Magos! That;s always been one of my favorite GSC models.

Yeah, he's really neat! i like that he's almost diginified in his stance, and powerful looking.

But then i tried to make my own

I think it's a start, but the gun arm... is a problem.

(Still working on my move, i won't have a lot of space so storage is going to be a puzzle game basically)
