These seem pretty milquetoast even by GW standards. 3 out of 4 40k armies are Imperium, 2 out of 4 AOS are Order, no Death anywhere to be found, and the Bloodbound one looks like a rehash (even with a lower price, that's still kinda lame).
Death has Vlagorescu's box, which makes saving of 90-ish dollars. Considering flesh-eater courts is the only solid army death has it's understandable. Order has the most armies too. I on the other hand am disappointed witht he Ironjawz starter, mainly because the bloody giant stands like a sore thumb since you need to have 100% ironjawz to make a legal list. You're saving 80 dollars but 40 of those most likely won't see use. Meanwhile the start collecting is like 70 dollars of savings and everything will see use, even if you buy multiple boxes.

844 points without any upgrades. How I would play it, 1012. Please note that I use a lot fewer upgrades than most. Add a Riptide and you have a perfectly workable 1250 force.

Looks to be Skarr Bloodwrath, Aspiring Deathbringer w/ Goreaxe and Skullhammer (99% sure on this one, but it's hard to make out), 10 Blood Warriors, 20 Bloodreavers, 3 Mighty Skullcrushers, and 5 Skullreapers/Wrathmongers. Very solid addition to either the SC or starter set.

Whew! For £100 I can't say I'm all that tempted as I echo some of my other spoilt brethren in this thread who are lamenting the omission of Eldar (both varieties) and Imperial Guard.
That said, like the 'Start Collecting!' sets is there any information as to whether these will be available at discounters? A good 20% off on an already tempting deal makes the fence that I'm sat on far more uncomfortable!

Why are people surprised that its armies with newer models? What are they going to have resin battleforces? Are they going to re-release Sisters of Battle in a Battleforce? An AoS Death Battleforce with 15 year old models? Cmon guys.
I'm just annoyed that the Space Wolf one has 15 Grey Hunters. I have 10 Grey Hunters and 15 Bloodclaws, how many do I goddam need?!??!?!? Its such a good deal but I dont know what I would do with those troop guys.

If the current GW sales ploy involves giving a notable discount on standard prices, putting together sensible arrangements of unit choices between these and the Start Collecting sets, leaving new customers with a reasonable force but some obvious choices for expansion towards some of the pricier kits... then this is a GW sales ploy I can live with!!
I'm happy to see SW and DW, sad that there is no Orks or IG( AM) sets, but my wallet is grateful
I am thoroughly enjoying the current ongoing refreshing era of GW not being dicks tbh, long may it continue, despite the protestations of my much raped wallet

These sets really highlight the cost discrepancy between armies. Just compare what you get in SW vs AdMech or Khorne vs anything.

The Khorne box is offset by the fact that a lot of the figures are more of those damned Bloodreavers, the cockroaches of the Chaos alliance.

Build them as anything you realistically want barring Skyclaws or Swiftclaws?
Grey Hunters and Blood Claws aren't a "set" like any other army realistically has for Troops. They're the basis for practically every foot version of Space Wolf out there.
Long Fangs? Use that sprue plus some leftover weapons from the Devastator sprues! No Grav-Cannons though.
Wolf Guard without Terminator Armor? Oh look...you can do that without having to have bits from other sprues!
Skyclaws? Get some Jump Packs!
Want to build a Wolf Lord? Can do, boss!
I get that they feel like a "tax" in the box, but it's not like getting Scouts or Terminators or Vanguard/Sternguard Veterans. Automatically Appended Next Post: lord_blackfang wrote:These sets really highlight the cost discrepancy between armies. Just compare what you get in SW vs AdMech or Khorne vs anything.
Eh. AdMech is, for lack of a better description, mostly full of tax units.
Electropriests? Dragoons/Ironstriders? They should have just doubled up on Kataphron and Kastellans.

It's 50% off for the Stormcast. That's crazy.
I'm totally sold on the Sylvaneth. I'm tempted by the Ironjawz but that Giant is turning me off.
The Stormcast is a possibility since it has stuff I don't mind getting more of (Liberators & Paladins) and stuff I need more of or want. I mean the prime, dracothin's and venator are worth the cost alone. But I need to count how many Liberators and Paladins I have.

Not confirmed, but the Ironjawz box is called "Thunderfist" and all of their Battalions are similar... Ironfist, Gorefist, Brutefist, etc.
I'm assuming we'll see an included Battalion called Thunderfist with the box contents.

None of these tempt me, even the Admech one (Admech being my next 40k army). I'd rather buy multiple Start Collecting Admech.
My wife likes the Space Wolves one (her next 40k army). What kind of points range is that plus a Start Collecting box? (we're still waiting for The War Store to deliver the Codex).

True, it's more the destruction of the faction special battlelines that I have the issue with. I hadn't thought about using additional armor bitz from larger kits to armor him up. That at least makes him fit style wise. Thanks
