I like Purple. Basically used the normal colour scheme as a template and switched colours

Finished the Squiggy (base and all this time), then promptly left town on vacation. Luckily I'll be back in time to photo, edit, and post. Pics should be up this weekend some time.

Finished the Questor!! Photo quality isn't the best, so I apologise for that! Overall I'm pretty happy with how he turned out - the first Stormcast I've ever painted, and it's tempted me to get a squad of Sword/Shield Liberators to put him with

I always try to keep this up to date with what projects I'm working on... but they just keep piling up

It looks fantastic! Really rich colours and smooth highlighting. The cloak came out especially nice!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

So, having finally been released from the grip of Papa Nurgle just in time for Christmas, I was looking for something to paint. Receiving my copy of Imperial Agents on Christmas Eve inspired me to break out some models I've had for a while; three Crusader henchmen, two stock and one converted.

Proof:

A couple of days painting later and we have the finished results:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year all!

This didn't turn out 100% as I envisioned, but as a first attempt at sculpting anything, I'm overall pretty happy w/ it. I'm at least encouraged to make another one in a month or two after the Rogues and Scoundrels comp. Perhaps I'll have to start suggesting competition themes like "Kablam!" and such.

Nice work sculpting that from scratch, Gulgog. I like the landmine hat.

Lovely job on the skaven, El Torrminator.

I've almost finished my blood bowl orcs. I just need to do the team logos and numbers, add a bit of weathering, and base them. At this rate I'll be racing to get them finished and photographed on new year's eve. I haven't even managed to post a proof pic yet! I've had so little time to do anything.

Hi all

Gulgog TufToof you are very creative with your entries, I like your sculpt.
Some cool looking models there Jadenim
TheoreticalFish, your right that is a lot of purple, well done for completing that monster

I hope everyone had a good xmas, I've been neglecting this tread and my project for the last week due to being crazy busy so time to get back in. I was able to complete the seat yesterday, now time to work on the models

What are peoples thoughts, should I put the tinsel around the edge or not? does it fit?

not a bad looking squig there Gulgog!

MG...oh man, I do kinda love the tinsel ...but I'm not sure how well it really works with the rest of it ...it's a nice thematic touch, I'm just not sure if it helps or hurts the overall look of the piece ...the whole base/diorama thing looks great though!

...anyway, I just got done with my santa runtherd and "roodolf da red nozed squighound" ...here's my final pics:

I'm not super happy with the pics...lighting's too intense and the focus is a bit off and all that, as usual...I might try and sneak some better ones in before the deadline, but these'll do for now

Thanks, Bottle! Not sure how it stands up to the normal calibre of painting on these challenges! Absolutely love the GSC - they look incredible!

Big fan of the Reindeer Squig too - fantastic work!

Wow, looking through the thread and the completed projects, is anyone else thinking they might end up having to vote for every single entry? Absolutely everyone has done phenomenal work this month. Every completed entry at the moment has something about it I really like. It's a really impressive thread this month (as it is every month, to be fair.)

fantastic entries so far.. loving the bomb squig! I might need to steal that idea.

Here is Bashful Boris! This is probably the most painful entry I've done as I did it during the 2 weeks after an op on my shoulder. He was a lot of fun to paint.

Thanks for the feedback Zobo, I was thinking the same which is why I wanted someone elses view, its nice to make it as Christmasy as possible but with the tinsel in not being painted and shiny it draws the eye away from the actual piece so I think I'll leave it out.

Your is good, I like the addition of the snow, what did you use for that? I want to do a snow base when the right topic comes up but not sure which why to go on how to create the snow.

Nice work Farseer Anath'lan, its a little difficult to see some of the details on the models though.

Your reds are always very good mootlet, nice entry, We have had that model entered before but I think it was blue.

I had absolutely no idea how to go about doing the base...but I had a vague memory from long ago of hearing about something involving bi-carb soda (apparently not baking soda though, turns yellow?)...so I just thought what the heck, and mixed up a thick paste of bi-carb, pva glue and water, and slapped it on dirt cheap, super easy, and seems to have worked quite well...it might be a bit fragile though...or maybe it just hadn't fully cured yet when I was last handling it...or maybe not enough pva in the mix?...who knows, it was my first try at snow so there ya go ...but yeah, I might be a bit hesitant to use it for models that are going to see a decent amount of gaming...maybe keep it mostly for display stuff

Purple actually, Midget. Both look pretty nice.
My entry for the month: Angry Armadillos!
Armadillo warriors from splintered light miniatures. Kinda a rush job, was going to do the bird man up in the corner of the proof pic, and then I just looked at the time I'd have this month, and started a batch paint...

Thanks for the tip Zobo, I was leaning towards that method but wasn't sure what results it would give.

Vejut, lol I never thought I'd see aggressive armadillos, nice one

Modock, you have got some really nice tones and highlights to your entry, great work

I'm calling time on my entry now since I have an evening planned.

Thanks. I think he is meant to be bluish/purple but I felt rebellious!

Really nice entry Modock. I really like the skin tones on the ork.. how did you do them?

brilliant MG! ...love all the little details you've added in there, the grot's cork guns, spiky collars, candy canes, hats, beard, ghaz's present (I now imagine he gets stikkbombs every year and grumbles about it )...nice use of the ammo crates too ...everything's nicely painted, and it all works together really well, nothing looks out of place...which is impressive considering how much is going on in such a small scene, it could have easily turned out looking too "busy"...great work, love it!

Sorry it's a bit late, and about the size.
He's not the best thing I've ever painted, but he managed to get me back into Warhammer which makes up for it.

Edit: spoilered because of size.

Still the 31st, and it's finally done! Really pleased with how this one turned out, it may be the best tank I've painted so far.

Ahhh! I still have highlighting to do as well as the base for this Ethereal's Hover Drone - this is really going to be a sprint to the finish for me.

Would it be okay for me to upload the image sometime tomorrow, or would that disqualify me from the competition? I can finish the painting tonight, but I want to photograph the model in a proper light box, which will need a setup

No problem, ideally it'd need to be up by about mid-afternoon UK time tomorrow, but since I know to wait now I'll hold up so long as it's not massively late.
