Hey guys,

Small update.

An entrance I added for the governor’s mansion:

starting my casts for the mountain the cathedral is built on

N

And also the progress on a new build kirque wanted to add. Some sort of spill way, sewer, water processing area that pours into our river. It also connects into the Mechanicus building and will add another crossing point. That or he’s building the ninja turtles lair

I

I guess I might need to point out this entire area will be covered with cobblestone and essentially be underground

Holy Terra.

Love it. Is that tunnel large enough for a space marine? Or will you have to send in the guard if the enemy takes to the underground?

Comparing it to the size of the adjacent Sector Mechanicus terrain, it looks like it is. Must be approaching 2" in diametre!

Will make for some cool raids Could model some kind of cult or gang hidout in there? Stick posters on the wall, add a make shift armoury/workbench, some tired sofas...

Yes, the small pipe is 2” and can fit figures, including marines. It will go all the way across to provide an access route the isn’t open to fire like the other bridges.

I like the poster idea too

Also, some quick updates on my army HQ.

For my Commander wearing the armor of graf toschenko I’m going to bail on the mech stuff and just keep him ornate

- for my primaris psyker I found some good wizard bits and a head I think will work. Just need to go back in and start the green stuff sculpting work now

Ooh, those look good.

Where is the ornate sabre from?

Same place a lot of the bits I’ve been using actually, the solar Auxilia command squad

https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Solar-Auxilia-Tactical-Command

Both heads are from that set, I’m thinking about switching out the payker gloves from a pair in that set and those helmets are what I cast and used in the rest of the army

I just freaking love those tanks! They look amazing so far.
Really good progress and purely awesome stuff all around since I last visited.

If you mean you have to strip the paint, Fairy power spray has worked pretty well for me.

Great stuff - love the steam tank parts for the turrets - though I feel the guns are a bit big, even for 40K.

The choice of models for conversions is great too. The PDF helmets are really well chosen.

Holy Terra.

If you want to strip them, 90% alcohol will do the trick even for primer. It won't get all of it off, but it'll get most of it.

Would really be nice to do a project blog that doesn’t have this in it somewhere

Totally missed your comment ember. Having to try again in 90% alcohol

How long do you soak?

[size=9]Automatically Appended Next Post:[/si
Seriously, thank you again and to anyone else who suggested rubbing alcohol. The paint came off in 15 minutes with a soft tooth brush VS the two times I tried with 24 hour soaks in the purple stuff that couldn’t even get all the paint off with a stiff brush

Time to primer with an Airbrush instead

Holy Terra.

I soak them for about 45 minutes, then scrub them down with an old toothbrush, then I soak them again and repeat until the paint is gone.

Ok, I need some advise on basing theses guys. I have a bunch of third party bases (most 25mm I believe) but they have a ton of rubble on them and Our city isn’t that blown up. Also several are rather tall

If I use them , I was thinking my marching squad would go on the 10 cobblestone ones I made, The at attention dudes would go on the city’s of death gw ones And then the other 4 squads would go on the third party stuff

The other concerns are how big the HQ and command squad ones would be (40mm). They are cool but man would those be difficult to use on our board

Also, what are your thoughts on my custom ones for my snipers and the bike bases for my cavalry?

The 60mm cobblestone are for heavy weapon squads. I’ll add rubble to these as well

Ok. Though permanently losing any future cover saves I decided to use the bases. What else am I ever going to use them for anyhow.

I added some additional rubble to the larger heavy weapon bases

And kept the on guard/at attention dudes on lower gw cities of death bases

The command squad and other HQ (once I finish them) will go on the 40mm

So the only real outstanding question is which size should my snipers (count as rattlings) go on? The custom 40mm which look really cool or the smaller 25mm which will be easier to place in the city?

The Shire(s)

Nice mix of bases there, match with the varied areas of the city. It makes sense that the fighting troops will be occupying the rubble in the damaged areas- rubble makes for excellent concealment and cover.

Whilst the 40mm bases will look good by themselves, I think the 25mm bases will look better in the long run, because you will be able to squeze the snipers into awesome little perches within the city

And now everybody’s reprimed

And the tanks have their first coat

Kerque also made some progress on the spillway. He’ll probably post some more pics but here are a few too

First you’ll see the sewer pipe goes all the way across now. So dudes can sneak across

Also some progress on the monorail Pilars

And an updated view from the river

I was just going to post a quick pic of all the bits I wanted to try and use on my lord of war commander who’s wearing the armor of graf toschenko.

Per the little fluff I could find I’ve been going back and forth on this idea of an exoskeleton for the ornate armor and finally decided to give it a shot

It all needs some green stuff work. Probably the back most of all

And here’s a pic of him with his other HQ homeboy

How come every time I customize something the gw comes out with a model the next week?

At least they saved me the trouble of building my own crusader. New model looks really cool too

I think this table is looking incredible.....but how do you move it when you need to?

Made in us
Boosting Black Templar Biker

Great question

We designed it so that any of the buildings over 24” tall would be removable (this includes the whole cathedral, the top half of the keystone building, the entire landing tower, the inquisition/ senate building, the manufacturm pictured below and the very WIP hab building). This will allow us to turn the tables sideways to get through a 32” wide door hopefully.

Examples:

The table is also 3 parts. 2 4x8’ tables with a river between connected by the multiple bridge sections that set in on biscuits

So the only outstanding issue are the legs. Which we will need to completely remove and reattach if it ends up needing to go through a standard door (like the 32” at our local hobby shop where we would like this thing to live for a little bit once we finish, if they ll have it)

OR the short answer, with lots of help and a uhaul

I love the exoskeleton!

Which kits have you pinched those little servo arms from? They work wonderfully well for that purpose.
