Given how much it comes up, there's also clearly substantial demand for female Space Marines, but I don't see GW making them any time soon (and I don't see a problem with this).

The part of this I like the most... they aren't done with the gathering storm releases yet. That still leaves room for a Chaos triumvirate, or any other releases in the next few months.

Shadow Force Solaq and Infiltration Cadre Burning Dawn weren't.
They were closer to what we had with the Stormclaw, Deathstorm, and Death Masque sets...just split into two for whatever reason. And Shadow Force Solaq was an awful value because of the inclusion of Vanguard and Sternguard.

That doesn't excuse deciding you're going to write a Custodes book and then taking a couple of 10+-year-old vehicle kits that are already used in seven Codexes (eight, with a minor upgrade frame) and then spraying them gold instead of giving them something new/interesting.
Considering most of the Custodes line will be from FW, its nice that they are giving us a way to use all the plastic we have. Im sure FW will eventually even give some of it to 40k.
You are getting worked up over a fill in release, like the Calth stuff when it got released separately. In fact, its a buff to the Custodes. Assault Transports will do them a world of good.
I'm getting annoyed that after an endless parade of opportunities to give us new vehicles we're still stuck with the exact same Land Raider kit we've had for as long as time.
The game was in its 3rd edition when that kit came out. It is time for an update.

It would be nice if GW included some ornate bits you could put on the Rhino and the Land Raider. Even something for the BaC Contemptor would be nice, this release kinda feels cheap to me.
Hopefully the two codecii included in the box won't be throw away nonsense items after all the Gathering Storm is over.
I know GW wants to release 30+ boxes a year or whatever they seem to be doing now. If you just want to expand your Heresy forces, this release is a poor value compared to Burning at Prospero.

Hm, color me interested in the solo Sisters box if they release those lovely little rules pamphlets for a reasonable amount. I'm not game for dropping $50 on a codex for models I think are interesting but would not really fit in with my army.
As for the big box, meh? It looks ok for people who are super into IoM or are just getting started

They are in the 30k Talons of the Emperor list. They probably will be, but you'll need the $40 Tribune blister and the $30 Oblivion Knight blister to come out first so you get an HQ choice.

I dont want two gullimans, i dont want two sets of SoS and Custodes. Holy gak, imagine if this effort was spent on updating aging lines instead.

Oh, I thought someone on page 1 said they were getting HQ's in this.
That said, we have a work around. I believe Celestine, Cawl and Greyfax can all be used as HQ's for any IoM CAD. Celestine with honor guard should fix that.
You have given me hope.

I wonder, how much for 5 Custodians. Considering, GW asks 45 euros for 5 Terminators...And FW pricing is +-30 quid in their bundles.

I have a feeling that this box is going to be the only way to get a printed copy of Codex: Adeptus Custodes.
Hmmm... I didn't really want to buy another Land Raider, but I suppose I can make room.

It isn't even a flying Land Raider.
There is nothing new to this release. The custodes and sisters kits are just seeing separate releases from Prospero. There isn't a new hardback codex for $50 like Knights, but a small booklet version of the dataslates available online, with the contemptor and some art added.
The main disappointment is why didn't they do this earlier, and just slot them in the Imperial Agents book?

Given the disappointing nature of the IA book and how... old it felt, I think there's a very good chance it was finished quite a long time ago and it was too late to slot in the Custodes and Sisters.

Feels odd to have codex's based on just one unit, but then that is pretty much what the knight and deathwatch codexs are.
The bigger question is who will shell out for a book less than 3 months before a new edition is due out - especially with all the talk of a radical change that would invalidate the books.

Makes sense. The Stronghold assault book had the same problem in that it left out the haemoreactors (which were designed to benefit several other fortifications).

The LR and the BaC Contemptor are IMO two of the worst plastic kits in the SM range. The fact that I really like there overall look makes it even worse Still if the price is right I may be tempted on this box, especially if the Talons get LR and Rhino's when there 30k red book gets released.

Looks like it's not a full codex book and more of a pamphlet included with the boxed set. This is a good thing.

Zero interest in Sisters of Silence, so not buying the Talons box... and they can keep that horrible static Contemptor too (make mine Forgeworld, please).
On the other hand, excited about the separate box-o-Custodes. They are such ridiculous models... and I abso-bloody-lutely must have them and build them.

They will probably be priced at $60 a box, so just get used to paying $40+ per set off EBay.

A couple days ago I started a thread in the 40k General discussion on what Custodes would need to be useable as a stand-alone army. A dreadnought and a Land Raider were on the list, so this makes me happy.
The only things missing from this boxed set that I'd like to see is a Custodes HQ, and some kind of ranged unit or fast attack unit. I guess we can always hope that Forgeworld makes 40k rules for some of its skimmers or jetbikes.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
I wonder if they will include an armory for the Custodes or have a couple new formations or Warlord traits. Also, I wonder if they will still limit Custodes to only three units of infantry. I'd much prefer running 5 units of 6 guys rather than 3 units of 10.
