I think that I posted in a few threads by accident. Lol tired and have too many tabs opened.

The elves that I want to see are the chtulu inspired ones. This has the potential to be fragging awesome, especially when you consider the quality of GW kit lately.

After looking at all the new dwarf pics on the community site, very much this.^

Troops need very little in the way of mods (a few weapons, paint) to work fine in 40K. Of course they would work better in War Machine and I suspect that they are aimed directly at War Machine players...

Taking the balloon things off the vehicles gives some usable grav vehicles. GrundstokGunhauler made a nice speeder type vehicle and the bigger boats could be Land Raider /Predator/Leman Russ analogs.

Just saw the video for Shadow Wars. What a huge disappointment. It looks like a decent tool for drawing in new gamers but as someone who was hoping for a new Necromunda with updated rules and redesigned minis it's a total miss. Well, the plastic terrain is pretty nice. I might pick up some of that when the ebay retailers start breaking up the boxes.

That list of units isn't every unit usable in the game, just some of them.

Well, that's a data dump to wake up to.

Kahraraharaatasdon? Erm. Yeah. I like the airships, but seems my general Steampunk Aversion remains good and healthy. Perhaps they'll grow on me.

Shadow War? Definitely buying. The scenery alone is enough reason for me. Two or three sets methinks.

The AoS game? Intrigued, and want to know more.

Um, metal beards were always a dwarf thing.

I'll give you the armored balloons that look like water mines. Can't wait to see the lore behind those.

Iirc the steel beard first made its appearance with the last dwarves release of whfb, so not that long ago

My guess is that the Talons of the Emp box set and the new Shadow wars Arma box set are mainly set up to partly attract some new players while introducing some new bits (Custodes\Sisters and Terrain) for the current base. But the (hopefully) main thing is to clear stocks of old models (Scouts, Orks, Rhinos, LR etc) that are on their way out of production or not selling well enough. This to make way for new stuff coming with the release of 8th edition.
Well at least i hope so

Hmm, I'm not sure really. Lore-wise it goes all the way back to the "Burning shore" novel where the dwarfs forge metal beards for themselves after their original ones get burnt off.

I thought model-wise it went far back as well but maybe I just saw a old conversion.

That shadow war box is looking pretty good. With rest of terrain doesn't look that bad and I had been thinking of getting some scouts for 30k sons of of horus. Please be decent price! Could find use for 2-3 boxes.

Apparently there is a quote from one of the GW guys that Shadow War is so close to the old school Necromunda rules that you can, at least in theory and likely in practice, use your old Necromunda gang rules in this game if you wanted. So, you could have Goliath gangers vs. Marine Scouts. Or Arbites facing off against Tyranid Warriors.

You're free not to like them, but they're steampunk as feth and steampunk is very GW Fantasy.

I'm very much on the fence, half of me thinks they're the best thing GW have done for quite a while, half of me thinks they're fething ridiculous.

So how about thinking that they are the best of the fething(ly glorious( ridiculous thing they have done for quite a while?

As to the 12 Kill-Team Squads in the new Necromunda. No Space Mahreens other than Scouts. Foreshadowing the Nu-Mahreens?

Tactical marines are mentioned in the interview as a faction you can take. GW don't need to sell people tactical marines though as everyone has them. It's why the initial splash is pointing to cool kits that maybe don't see a lot of sales (DE Wyches for example) but you can take as factions.

Basically expect every troop choice to be there as an option for this.

Certainly happy to see Neophyte Hybrids there from the start. How easy will it be to adapt the Necromunda gangs from the Neophyte Hybrid faction? Should be fairly.

When I think of Necromunda I really don't think about Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, Tyranid Warriors and Grey Knights.

I think about Grant Beerheart and his Orlocks drinking in bar while some bounty hunters play cards. Only for his peace to be disturbed by a Trinity DeVito 'a blue haired Escher' knocking his pint over. Which breaks down into a shoot out ok corral style in the street.

Can't imagine that kind of thing happening with this game, if a grey knight, ork, space marine scout and genestealer hybrid were in a bar and they hadn't already killed each other the inquisitional would be called in.

Terrain is nice, but couldn't care less about the setting or using current 40k armies, that's not what Necromunda is about.

All these releases have fried my brain... why could they not make squats? Because those guys look like squats.. I think I like them? They are quite a bit of a shock - they could definitely be a crossover 40k/AoS unit. I do love the airships- they are really cool.. the rest I am warming to- why do they paint things in fecking purple though, I hate purple..
The other game is maybe AoS mordhiem?
The scenery for Shadow Wars looks great- wonder what the price point will be. Could be a really good game to get for those of us with limited time..

Having seen the full set of terrain Shadow War is now a buy for me.
Also seeing the scouts are the multi part set, and not just bolt pistol and knife guys helps.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Scouts are the multipart Scout box and the multipart Sniper Scout box.

Saves me having to buy scouts for my Carcharadons.

IF these little dudes make them good munneh, we could be closer to Squats being redone than ever before. Remember, though likely apocryphal, a stumbling block for Squats has been a studio desire to reflect their Epic Awesomeness, and not their 30k Drunk Biker Funny In The 80's I Suppose Lameness....

Sorry if this has already been posted but I had a wee look at the 40K Community site this morning to see a clearer description of how the game will play.
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/03/15/war-returns-to-armageddon/

A better shot of the terrain.
Spoiler:

It sounds like they intend for you to only need to buy one troop box to add a new faction as well
You’ll be able to expand your game with extra models for the two squads in the box, or even add whole new races. The Kill Teams are all designed to be built around squads in an army you might already have, or can pick-up in a single boxed set. Here are a few of the units that you will be able to use, in case you wanted to get started building and painting now:

Skitarii Rangers
Chaos Space Marines
Cultists
Dark Eldar Wyches
Dire Avengers
Eldar Guardians
Harlequin Troupe
Grey Knights Strike Squad
Necron Immortals
Necron Warriors
Tau Empire Pathfinder Team
Tyranid Warrior Brood
Neophyte Hybrids
Scouts
Scouts with sniper rifles
Cadian Infantry Squad
Ork Boyz

The Shadow War game is a nice stopgap product. With AT being post-poned and the Blood Bowl plastic range planned to be expanded, Necromunda 3.0 from the Specialist Design Studio will definitely have to wait. I'm fine with this Armageddon scenario. The Community site mentions it will be using Necromunda core rules, so adding gang rules will be easy.

The style of arcitecture used for the terrain seems to be based of these artworks by Geoff Taylor and Les Edwards

Spoiler:

I like it

That's the thing I like about this other than the cool scaffolding - by the sounds of it, it's a game that will work with my collection of models right out of the gate, which is pretty refreshing
