Yeah. I would have preferred to see the armor being more unisex, but that female stormcast looks suitably beefy, so I'm willing to give a pass to the boob armor

Haha, I wonder if that snail was painted like that because 1d4chan called the End Times quest to save Shallya from Nurgle's Garden "Warhammers' s version of Alice in Wonderland".
Just his whole gardener theme is really neat. (Though I wonder what he did to warrant an assassin going after him?)
(Also just now realizing that nurgling is a carrot-on-a-stick)
The Stormcast are epic as always and the helmet option for her is nice.
Only complaint is Nurgle knights would've been appreciated for kitbash. Though since that's a gardener gathering up a local pox posse it's understandable.

Gah as much as I wanted to keep my Stormcast all helmeted, that is a really nice bare head sculpt on Black talon . The Nurgle side looks like a SC box with Horticulous in place of the Herald and depending on the price that's a decent amount of Stormcast as well.

Indeed, Stormcast have both men and women in the ranks with some chambers being entirely women like the Daughters Draconis.

To be fair, we never knew that the female ones would in fact look this female.
There was a bit of debate about the "Reforging" process, whether or not it removed defining aspects of someone and essentially left their spirit in place. I like the model without the helm as I think the helm looks too effeminate/goofy(but I think many of the Stormcast helms look goofy).

Yeah for female stormcasts it looks GW is sticking to the theme we have seen from the shadespire model, which is a good thing in my books.

IIRC there have always been female stormcast by means of omission (speaking of great heroes reforged blah blag). The first mention of a female being made into a stormcast was either in Balance of Power or in Godbeasts where an entire family (with Florentian sounding names) were reforged. Up until then and after that (excluding Shadespire, Blightwar and a possible mention I've missed) all stormcast have been either portrayed as male in artwork and fiction or have been mentioned with nothing indicating them as female.
I'm not against female stormcast or whatever for those waiting to pounce. I just prefer them, lorewise, to be portrayed as human males as Sigmar remade their soul stuff in his image... as stormcast were portrayed early on in art and fiction (trollface)

I actually give the Stormcast some props because they have female models. While I don't personally like Stormcast enough to collect them I think that model is a great one and they did the face good. Also I would have found it weird if they made her super sexy it's not the Stormcast style.

I recall in the first campaign book they mentioned heroes taken were men and women and then around release of AOS GW confirmed it on facebook and then it went from there. Honestly having male and female stormcasts is just one more thing that makes them different compared to Astartes which is something I approve of.

Let's just drop this while it is still only just slightly weird. I'm sure anyone that have actually read what I wrote wouldn't mind it as it is a personal opinion. Love the gardener, just needs a little less of an eclectic paintjob in my eyes. The snail's face is just a little too silly for my taste, but more than made up for by the fantastic posing on the rider.
It makes sense that most Stormcast are male. They are drawn from combat and war-minded mortals, most of them (perhaps all of them) human. Since males form the overwhelming majority of human military Stormcast would accordingly be mostly male. That's why the models are generally male, the characters are generally male, and we haven't seen female models until now. But they do exist and it's cool that they are getting model support, the IG line could benefit from this treatment as well IMO.

Not really...
Space Marines take existing material and add to it using SCIENCE!. Nothing about them is necessarily magical(I guess Librarians maybe and the origins of the Primarchs, but otherwise it's science-ish), unlike the Stormcast.
Stormcast are forged by magic, and upon their deaths they gradually lose more and more of who they are.
Originally it was implied that some of them were nothing more than soul-stuff animating their armor. It's been relatively recent that we started seeing bared heads and the like.
I can get behind both the female look and male looks, personally, but I can understand where some of the people wanting them to be portrayed as more statue/automaton-esque are coming from. Automatically Appended Next Post: Eldarain wrote:What is the price point on this going to be? Those are pricey Stormcast.
I'm guessing ~$150 on the high side, ~$125 on the low-side. USD of course.
Notice it doesn't come with a rulebook or anything. It's got the small rules pamphlet that GW shops give away for free, a dial with the special scenery rules that the Realm of Life had, and what looks like the kind of small booklet we saw with Death Masque, Stormclaw, etc.
It's also worth mentioning that one of the big ticket items for Stormcast is a halved box. $60 USD for 10 Vanguard Hunters but they give us 5 Vanguard Hunters there.

Going through the first campaign book again they don't specify the aspirants gender. They just call them heroes etc so they left it open ended, I do feel it was during godbeasts and balance of power where they decided to start adding meat to the factions.

The stormcasts took off their helmets in the very first book so I don't get where people got the idea they were energy people only time I saw stuff like that is normally from naysayers. Plus they died like normal men and women blood and all before being zapped back to ayzr.

You'll notice that I said "originally it was implied that some of them were nothing more than soul-stuff animating their armor"...
I didn't specify that every single one of the Stormcast Eternals were like that. The Lord-Relictor IIRC might be why some of the people got the idea that some of these were naught but automatons as he has a few lines somewhere that implies the only thing that still remains of the individual in the armor is "their soul and fighting spirit".
In any regards, I'm just trying to point out that trying to pretend that someone expressing a preference for one portrayal or the other is not necessarily wrong.
I do hope that the Knights-Zephyros(of which Blacktalon is our first look at them) get a male release as well, even if not a named character. It would open them up to having both male and female options for that unit since Blacktalon will be available as well.

As cool as male and female versions of the various Stormcast heroes would be(especially if they brought some new weapon options to the table). Doubling up on the now thirteen types of Stormcast hero would probably be a bit much, even for the settings poster child faction.

Nu- GW has shown their main strategy is "just release a million Space Marine products because people will lap it up." No reason for 'em to stop now I guess, but it does leave both 40k and AoS that much more boring when ever other game is against Space Marines/Sigmarines.
