Wolves wip looks promising. The Alpha on the right is one of the best models in the range, in my opinion. I'm sure they will be something to howl about.

As you should, they may look scary, but are just looking on giving a little wood to everyone.

The evil paint scheme really doesn’t sell the model in my opinion.
Well I got home, I didn’t like the white all dry, but the basilica grey looked good so I’m going with it. I also tried doing the white over the grey .
So here is test guy 1

I’ve kept one of the apothecary white, it may need more work, but we will keep on him for a different pack or use the technique again for a white alpha.

I’m on the mend, it’s just bosses who want my work level back because we are short handed(though they’ve always said we aren’t short staffed), who are wanting me to do more than I should.
Yorkright wrote: Wolfies looking good Theo.
Thanks Yorkright, glad your back, missed your insight.
Well here are the first mongrels, terrible picture and still very WIP, but I got a couple different tones from lighter and heavier layers of the basilica grey contrast.
I’ll try and get more better shots tonight/tomorrow after more work is done on them.

Basilicum grey is really nice, I also grabbed black and skeleton horde last week. Trying those out, so far the skeleton horde looks great on....skeletons , but trying something with it below
So AOS army shot so far, my estimate is almost 1000 points.
First half of dryads are done, leader needs her base flocked though.
Second half of dryads are based with Rakarth flesh.
And as stated above I got some skeleton horde contrast paint, so I’m testing it over Rakarth flesh to see what that looks like. It’s still wet in this photo, likely put up a shot later tonight when it’s dry.
FLGS got a pallet load of stock in from GW yesterday. They said it would have ALL the contrast paints on it, may have to stop by today and see what is needed.

That’s what I was thinking as well. Now the question is to use this on the next phase of the army, or keep them all the same and not....Branch off .
Slinky wrote:The group shot looks amazing, top work!
Thanks Slinky, I’m pretty proud of my little saplings.
So quick stop by the house between work at church and work at the hospital. Man I cannot wait till I’m off light duty and back to a decent schedule. My wife and kids have enjoyed me being home more in the evenings, but it makes getting any solid project work inpossible.
Dry skeleton horde over Rakarth flesh.
Yep, I think that’ll do it. Now to start planning phase II of the Forest growth.

I’m glad the experiments help out , more to come as I just picked up Militarum Green and Aetheric Blue(spelling may be off from GWs version).
FLGS got their restock, hard to not go crazy with the contrast paints, but only grabbed two and more Reikland fleshshade as I’ve been out for a while.
The militarum green I’ve seen used for Ork flesh to a nice level so I grabbed it up. The Aertheric blue I want to try a few things with, including warpaint/tattoos on the wolves.

Mine are very basic. Rakarth flesh everywhere, agrax wash, darker tones are a coat of Darkoath flesh contrast on top of the others. Couple shots below .

Thanks, it’s I still doing what they marketed it to do, which is to get me to paint more and quicker with good results ( IMHO).

Well army shot.
Plus a couple close ups of the dryads.
Onto some more contrast experiments now. I know I’ll buy another start collecting Sylvaneth in the near future. I may never play, but having a shelf of these guys will give me wood every time I look at them .

It burns the eyes early in the morning though
Well I tried a lava effect, which I’ve always wanted to do and tried the old fashioned way, but far too many layers the old way. New way is simple.
Prime white drybrushed astorath red, yellow contrast, dry, black contrast, grey drybrush, basilica grey contrast. You could skip the basilica grey contrast, but it gives a “wet” look, which for those who seal miniatures might not want or get from the sealer anyway.

So I’m also looking at other models that I can redo in my collection and these molen are right there. Also looking for ideas on other lava, earth elementals that could join them.

Speaking of growing...
Not totally happy with him so far, but making a treeman out of left over bits looks possible given all the extras they put in the treelord kit so you could do three different builds.
Doctor visit this morning, I’m pretty sure I’ll be back to full duty today, which I’m glad for, just don’t want to go back and overdo it again.

Well, turn some out I wasn’t happy with how it was going, so parts were rent asunder, but fear not......wait,wait, wait....quake in FEAR as October’s painting competition theme I saw scary things. So be warned as a new growth will occur in the thick of the woods.
inmygravenimage wrote:Good stuff old son. Keep at it!
Oh no worries there (see below )
Oh it happened again
I’ve gone barking mad I tells ya. I need to get to the root of this problem before I’m terra firmly planted in a field of woe.
Also in picture the last 8 dryads have been flocked.
My mind is sprouting ideas for the spooky competition, may have to swing by the dollar store before all the Halloween decor I saw gone.
Also I’ve been given a clean(ish) bill of health, so back to my old routines. Hopefully I’ll still be productive here though.
