So like. From the community post, it sounds like we aren't going to get multi-part infantry? Just more mono pose guys in more starter sets? Wired.

So we know cawl might be messing with geneseeds from the traitor legions.
I wonder if there's a legion with a fondness for terror and psychological warfare, stealth and up close knife murder....? A legion where brutal fear inducing murder was standard practice?
Nah, can't think of any.

Not straight away at least. Although it would not surprise me if they announced more kits to be released alongside the Captain and Librarian as the week goes on.
The First Strike box really has me wishing for SWA rules for Primaris and DG.

I now want to start a Red Corsairs force. The Reivers are just begging for a pirate overhaul, love that there is minimal Imperial iconography on them. Just stick a few spikes on them. Hope they do release a full kit of these guys. The community post does not make it clear if there will be more than just easy builds.
Ohwell, yet another project to add to the nurgle like over spilling tank. Blood Reavers with lots of hooks and chains. Lets get all Mad Max in here.

Yeah, this are the easy to build equivalents ones of AoS. This time it appear that they are releasing those first, and after them, the multipart plastic kits.

Agreed!
I was hoping the Primaris line was going to continue to subtly break away from the overly-blinged Regular Marines - looks like I'll have to convert up a Primaris Librarian now.
Unless that helmeted option is super double plus awesome good, of course.

Makes sense.
I want to get into 8th, love the models, can't justify dropping the money on a box i will most likely never get fully painted.
I've had dozens of customers say the same to me , that they wanna get the start kit but real life makes it just a bit too steep.
These lower price point kits are a good thing, they help those of us who want smaller games/ just to paint a few models/a slower cheaper entry into the game get going, and they help the undecided or cpompletley fresh players avoid fatique when they spend two nights building their models before even beginning to think about painting or playing.
Also scenery in the box.cardboard yes, BUT SCENERY IN THE MOOTAFLIPPIN BOX! GLORY BE, GW HAVE FINALLY REMEMBERED HAT SCENERY IS FUN! You can paste that mat onto a piece of mdf and you've got yourself a nice little board.

I have to say it all looks like it's headed in the right direction. I still think the Nurgle stuff looks like ass and the Primaris Librarian looks a bit crappy (could be saved by a decent helmet, so not awful)...but from a business standpoint they're doing it right.
My main curiosity - do either of those starter sets contain the "full" rules minus fluff, or will both only feature the core 8-10 pages of promo rules.
I'd love to be able to grab a cheap copy of the rules which includes the missions/detachments/etc. without spending $45+ for additional fluff I don't care about.
Oh, and the Reiver poses look...poor. "Hey, make sure each marine is lifting one of his heels...that'll indicate the speed!"

Wait, so they are doing the clasical starter set with the big boock, a medium-starter set without the Nurgle sorcerer, the liutenaunts and the banner guy and the book, and then the small Storm of Sigmar-style box?
Wow. Talk about different price points for different kind of people

Yeah I kind of agree there, good thing i've been holding on to my money for the last month or so. I think i'll continue to hold onto my money for the next couple weeks cause who knows what other surprises they'll swing at us. I really want to see the helmeted librarian though. It's weird that the librarian and the captain have odd looking heads. The librarians head seems oversized compared to those in the dark imperium kit and the captains neck seems a bit tall. Everything looks good but I feel mixed on the two hq units.

I'm thinking about the mask portion of the helmets being a lighter, slightly muted or grayed-out version of the armor's primary color. For instance, the Reivers I'll do for my Salamanders will have a lighter green-gray color to the mask portion of their helmets.
In my head, at least, that seems like an appealing way to go. Automatically Appended Next Post: nicromancer wrote:Warhams-77 wrote:The Intro book comes with a single Intercessor Marine. Could it be the one for shop painting sessions?

At release day, my son and I put one together that I then sprayed DA green, he has yet to finish the "color your own primaris" picture so I can finish it off. I also got one, since I'm the only person who turned up ready to do a speed build and paint that the store was going to do.

That Captain and Librarian look fantastic. The fact the Librarian has a helmet option makes me so happy. Hopefully there is more than one helmet option for the Captain. I would prefer one without an augmented optic (that one can go on the Hellblaster Sergeant).
The Reivers look pretty nice. The helmet is a bit much, but otherwise they have a cool look.

Really like the look of these new minis. The Death Guard and Primaris marines are beautiful. The new marines look very modern - incorporating power armor design from current pop-culture and very dissimilar to the classic "knights in space" look of early space marines. Don't get me wrong, they look beautiful, but they are definitely departing from their baroque and gothic predecessors.

I'll have to buy the smallest starter one. I'm sure it will be in the Storm of Sigmar pricepoint. 25€ for those new easy to build kits is very good.

As far as I know yes. It's the £20 starter box I was hearing rumours of last year. It got brought up at the big 8th ed managers meeting in May where they got to play with the new plastics and the HQ guys were going wink wink.
A pocket money level entry product has been talked about for 40k for the last year and Storm of Sigmar proved it would sell.
