first strike actually sounds like a pretty good deal, my only issue is the squads of 3 istead of 5.

They seem like a pretty decent all-around close combat unit.

- Basic weapon for dakka, giving them something to do during the shooting phase. I'm guessing it's going to be slightly better stats than a basic bolt pistol if the trend remains the same.
- Weapon should also have the Pistol stat, meaning that the close combat unit will be able to shoot during close combat.
- Should get an extra attack in close combat from the knife, and possibly 2 base attacks.
- Whatever special rules they will end up with, probably the same deployment rules as the scouts at least.

Which should be a pretty solid basic unit.

After reading the novel, they should be pretty damn nasty.

Spoiler:

In the book they are noted as having Heavy Bolt pistols (whatever that means) but more importantly, their blades are surrounded by Disruption fields.

Mmmm the pictures reveled looks like a regular primarius pattered bolt pistol and a regular knife. not even a power knife.

so it just seems that way to me.

maybe they are just both coated in poison or some other things giving a nice ap- buff and stuff.

The Easy-To-Built models have no options, but different weapons could be in the regular kit.

I don't suppose you or anyone might have an ETA for those?

The primaris pattern weapons tend to have better stats though.
Bolters are S4 AP0 24" range
Bolt Rifles are S4 AP-1 30" range

Therefore, one could imagine that the bolt pistol the Reivers are using will probably have better stats than the standard bolt pistol.
Apparently its a heavy bolt pistol, so probably something like S5 AP-1

Yeah i know though strangly the primarus bolt pistols are just normal bolt pistols even with everything else changed.
and it looks the same as the revel picture which is why its a bit confusing.

not a big deal just gotta wait

Where will the Reiver rules be? Will the box come with a datasheet for them, or will they just not have rules for a while, or what?

Probably in the box (obviously in the starter box)...and it's a good bet the Primaris are going to be one of the first to get a real "codex" this go round.

I'm going to go ahead and assume the card with their art on the back that's under the datasheet card for the Intercessors(that just so happens to have the exact same dimensions) will have it.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I'm quite pleased by that price on the Reivers, as it struck me there's a way to use them as truescale HH Recon Marines afterall - it just requires me to change my thinking on Recon Armour from "they should look like Scouts but bigger" to "they should look like the Scouts from Space Crusade but bigger".

A resculpt of the upper legs and abdomen to fabric and some muscled arms & bare heads with mohawks should make them spot-on, and I'll have the skull helmets left over for my Star Phantoms veterans Kill Team.

Well, with the price of the Reivers and Intercessors, I will be getting two boxes of each to make two full Squads (I imagine Reivers are 5 in a squad like most of the units). The extra Sergeants will be used for some conversion work. I really hope that they will come packed with their stats and points(looking at the article, the Getting Started boxes have the rules, so they should). The Captain and Librarian will be mine as well.

I really want to see the price of the Repulsor. Hopefully a less weaponized, more transporty version is going to be available. I am afraid that this is going to be a huge point sink otherwise.

yeah thats my fear. if Primaris are paying like 250 points or something for a transport that'll be a bit of a problem, less of one mind you if it's points efficant eneugh that it can be a decent MBT for it's points cost but...

The rest of the model is fine though.

And Kyoto wins the thread.

Still I hope you're right that the Primaris Devastators do end up looking like those cool concepts from years back.

I think the one off thing with regards to the reivers is the blocky shorts part of the shins. would have been better to leave the blocky part off, just have thin shins with the spats, and up top have more ribbing and a larger knee pad.

Hmm.. I really wanted the Repulsor and Redemptor to be released, or atleast announced, at the same time as the Easy to Build kits. My vacation starts in the middle of July, and there would be no better way to start it than building up some awesome Primaris armour.

Alpharius? Never heard of him.

Not yet, but I wouldnt be surprised if we get all these multipart kits and a codex in July-September. I will refrain from buying any easy-to-build models with the exception of the First Strike box until then. Some Primaris sprues in Dark Imperium (like the Ancients) will probably not get a new kit but will be re-released (with some recuts or added sprues maybe) later on like the BaC/BoP models have been.

I've always thought it a pity that devestators couldn't pack assault cannons.

I've made a Dev with an a Assault cannon. Use the Ravenwing sprue assault cannon and the Dev heavy bolter. Looks cool.

Doesn't look as cool as Mr. Akimbo Assault Cannons though. I wish they'd make that model.

Actually a servitor with half of his body being an ammo drum walking behind the marine (attached by lengthy ammo feeds) would be some great Blacnhitsu modeling.

Spoiler:

I remember those being reposted when the marine centurions were released as the inspiration for them. The one with the vertical missile launchers is a bit similar but not so much the rest of them. I don't recall though if that was just fan speculation or if they actually officially said they were the inspiration in the accompanying white dwarf. In any case, the fugly centurions are different enough from the potential source to leave some sort of Restartes variant as the devs a possibility.
