Subject: Re:Space Marines - July WD teaser [News: Reivers/Captain/Librarian + More DeathGuard/Intro sets & book]
The topic is about the July releases in general, and talking about the individual models specifically.
At least that's what the title says. If there is nothing else to talk about other than prices, it could be locked. Or we could let it simmer until more releases come out.
But FAQs don't really have much to do with the topic.

Yes, God forbid we discuss something other than prices for pages upon pages upon pages.
Haha. I totally understand what you mean, but it is nice to have the FAQ discussion in one place.
It really is, isn't it?
That way this thread can stay on topic, and then that one can too!
And that topic was? Because it has been whining about prices for multiple pages now.
I thought that would be obvious?

So, the new White Dwarf in general, and the new Primaris stuff in particular?
As always, everyone can feel free to either not post in a particular thread if they don't have anything germane to say in regards to the topic, OR, alternatively, they can start a new discussion elsewhere about just about anything they'd like to discuss.

There is a lot of Primaris product waiting to be released in the next weeks and I plan to update the first post with all new material until the end of it. If GW continues to throw in Death Guard releases I will change the op and thread title accordingly and start following both factions. Originally the thread was intended to focus on the former. If someone would like to do a dedicated Death Guard topic, feel free to do so
Automatically Appended Next Post: I have no idea how reliable the source is but here are some new rumors
Harvarn - B&C
The other day I got a sneak preview of some primaris models that are not out yet. Cant share the photos but this is basically legit.. was a quick glance but this is what I sawÂ
Â
- Primaris ApothecaryÂ
- In[ter]ceptor Squad with what looks like short range dual plasma cannons
- A second variant of the hover tank which had weapon sponsons where the doors are on the side
- and a new unit which looks like a cross between a Primaris marine and a centurion it had those new missile packs you see on the tank and dreadnought but on the shoulders of the new unit like how typhoon missile launchers are on terminators. They were carrying heavy weapons I assume its their version of a dev squad.
- Bolter Reivers which actually look really really cool.
Â
Dunno of anyone else have seen them but it seems legit cause it was shot in a photo studio.
just looks like it, it is definitely not a terminator just that it had an exo suit on it esp at the feet.. was referring to its aesthetics more than the suit in a suit kinda thing.
Â
The interceptors definitely not carrying pistols it looks huge but stubby

Gw's release schedule is mystifying. This week we get 2 character minis. Next week we get 2 starter sets, 4 easy build sets, numerous painting sets and some new cards.

So the bolt rifle with the scope is the stalker after all. Apart the straight mag, it looks exactly like the scoped standard bolt rifles... If it is actually a sniper weapon I need to build one with a silencer to better differentiate it.
I wonder if the auspex will actually get some rules. I hope so.
And that plasma looks interesting. The weapon itself looks like normal incenerator, but with extra cables and backpack stuff. Could be just cosmetic difference, or one-in-five better weapon in the multipart kit like the Stormcasts have. (Were there some earlier rumours relating to this weapon?)
Hook em cheap and then rinse em. Classic strategy, HBMC.

First Strike is most certainly on my list, as one thing I found sorely missing with Dark Imperium was a tutorial of any sort, or a few linked scenarios to get you going.

I think I am going to cut the barrel off and glue the barrel from a Scout Sniper Rifle in its place. Just for a little variety.
I doubt Auspexes will get rules. It just helps make for cooler poses.
I really hope that the Incinerator is not some supercharged variant or cannon variant.
Hmm.. I haven't bought dark imperium starter box set.
Was thinking I have too minis to paint already.
But with these new sets I could first buy first strike and finish them then no know fear and then finally dark imperium. Seems kinda nice to do.

Speculation, but the power pack and cable on the plasma incinerator probably provides some small benefit like how the box mag on a bolt rifle makes it an "auto" bolt rifle with an extra attack. Either that or it's purely cosmetic. My bet's on the former.
Dead account, no takesy-backsies

Auto Bolt Rifles are Assault rather than Rapid Fire as well.

That looks like a plasma cannon.
Could be, or some kind of upgraded version of the normal hellblaster gun. Plus that is also the first primaris helmet I have seen that has variation, having 4 cables going into the mouth area instead of two. It looks like he also has a lot of stuff going on with his back.
No even slight hint of the DG in the august preview...kind of lame. Looks like they do plan on dragging this out into a good long several month run of models. I guess I can't complain..i'm doing both small 500-1k points of primaris and deathguard so I guess it's gonna be primaris getting expanded first.

Both the Interceptors and the Gravis helmets are different.

My bad, I was referring to the standard mk X for the intercessors and hellblasters. Sort of like how mk IV had numerous subtle differences between the helmets in the calth kit.

NivlacSupreme wrote: These guys are quickly becoming Stormcasts. They have no options and are expensive as feth.
Stormcast have options though...
They came when we got the book/rules for the individual kits.
That's when we got Liberators with Shields/Swords, Shields/Hammers, Hammers/Dagger, Sword/Dagger--and one model in the group can take a Greatblade or Greathammer.
That's when we got the two remaining types of Paladins (Decimators with their axes that let you hit a boatload of things at once and Protectors that have the glaive that can let them negate ranged attacks) and the addition of the Stormsoul Mace "special weapon".
That's when we got the alternate build for Prosecutors with the Stormcall Javelins and when we got the hammer/shield or hammer/hammer profiles and where both got the option of the trident as a "special weapon".
Or Judicators with their Bow or Crossbow option with the special bow option as well.
What I'm getting at in the end is that Age of Sigmar had things broken down differently to 40k. You have some things getting entirely new profiles for what amount to weapon options(Paladins and Prosecutors) and other things getting weapon options.
Edit: And for what its worth, buying a power armour captain has always been a waste of money.
Not entirely true. The plastic kit was a great source of weapons, if nothing else.
This new guy? Not so much.
But....two kinds of bolter magazines with an ugly join! That doesn't count as the advertised "selection of weapons"?
Seriously, doesn't hold a candle to the old multi-part captain, at a much higher price. Hell, at least two of the Stormcast models priced the same come with a gryph-hound, as well, even if they are still expensive.
The Lord-Castellant(first Gryph-Hound model, was part of the original Stormcast launch) is $40.
The Lord-Veritant(a more recent model that was part of the Stormcast Redux release) is $33.
And honestly, I think people are remembering the old Commander box with rose tinted glasses. Because it was a multi-part plastic you could certainly do some nice things with it...but without kitbashing it was just as "meh" as any other plastic Marine HQ kit has been, just with the added bonus of being able to position the arms a bit better I guess?
So one stormcast character with a gryph is 5 bucks more, and one is actually 2 dollars less than either Primaris character.
And rose colored glasses? The commander kit I am talking of is the one still sold for $22.95, and comes with three different heads, 4 ranged options for the right arm and 4 melee options for the left, plus several seperate bits like back banner, iron halo, etc. It's a helluva better deal than the Primaris captain that's over 10 dollars more.
