Subject: Space Marines - Upcoming Releases [News: Codex SM in July]
Thank you GW for the Open War cards that will cost money instead of including them in your so-called rule book that is 3/4 useless fluff. This reminds me of Kickstarters where they do not actually offer a complete game and provide those components as stretch goals or add-ons to make people feel like they are getting something special.
I hope people realize the old evil GW is still in place under a different guise. The rule/codex/index combo costs more when all is said and done. And the rulebook has even less rules related content than ever before! The cards will cost you. And while we are at it, GW please let us pay over $30 for new single infantry HQ models in hideously overblown armor!
The cherry on top is that GW is still going to release codex's with their trickle out method that we all know will ramp up imbalance issues as they power creep their way through the various races. But you cannot just buy the codex friend, we are going to leave some information out so you will need the Index too. We all need three books to play the game so break out the extra tables!
Paradigm for a happy relationship with Games Workshop: Burn the books and take the models to a different game.

Do you have an Ultra pattern Land Raider? The 35th anniversary Marine?
No? Then you don't need the index. Go read the FAQ.

I've outlined everything I think I see in the image, hopefully it makes some of the things stand out a bit more. Make sure you click for the larger image! Hmm in the back left too there looks like some Inceptors, but I think they are from the starter set.

No, do not play meat bags, only Necrons. The Index should have been a free download for putting up with a crappy rule book.

I will 100% be getting an Apothecary or two. My favorite specialty Marine (I am an Army Nurse, so it's only natural). I may or may not get one of the Chaplains.
Hopefully regular Space Marines can ride inside of a Repulsor. I want Pedro's Entourage to be able to actually ride with him.

yeah, if they enable standard marines to ride in Primaris vehicles it'll likely increase demand for them, of course if they don't it'll also ensure demand for rhinos and land raiders continues.

I'm really hoping that the transport incompatibility is an index only thing. Not being able to fit in a Rhino or Razorback is fine given the size of a Primaris marine. But anything that can transport Terminators and Centurions should be able to accommodate at least the basic MKX armoured Primaris.

Once they sell a bunch of repulsor tank kits (or whatever the transports end up being called) I suspect we might see an errata letting them ride in LRs and Stormravens.
Because the only reason I can think of not to let them ride anywhere a terminator can is purely a business/marketing reason.
But I can hope with you that once we get our codex, we will be able to field them in other transports.

I wish I had a counterpoint to this, but I don't. There is no logical reason why Primaris Marines can't go where Terminators go. And like BrianDavion said, if a Repulsor can fit Old Marines as well as Primaris Marines, people won't buy Land Raiders or Rhinos anymore.
One thing I could see happening is the Repulsor being able to fit Old Marines and Primaris Marines but NOT being able to fit Gravis or Terminators. They could give Gravis the ability to fit in Land Raiders. Then again, I could see them saying Old Marines can't ride in the Repulsor because their armor doesn't sync with the life support systems of the new tank. Gotta scrape every dollar they can from the fans, I guess.
I still think that if they don't make a low points cost transport for Primaris Marines, that their sales will ultimately suffer. They don't have the mobility options to make them all that useful otherwise. And they are too expensive to have footslog (whereas blobs can get by since they eat up so many shots).
I will still probably get two Repulsors, and an Apothecary or two of the stuff we have seen. Probably more Intercessors and Hellblasters as well.
When you have 30" range guns, and you can deploy 12" inches into a 48" table, you can reach the other table edge with your guns after moving in turn 1 of the game.
Yeah. I don't see the problem with the movility of Primaris. At least for the troops we have seen now (Ignoring Reivers that will probably have some form of deepstrike). They are 100% shooting units, they really don't need transport to go anywhere.
Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

they might be able to shoot across the board, but they will be spending the entire game walking to objectives.

Sure there is...doctrine.
There's been how long of Guardsmen riding in Chimeras and Rhinos being for everybody else?

Don't you think calling GW evil is just a bit dramatic? Annoying sure but evil? I wish paying slightly more than I need to for a luxury hobby was the worst humanity could throw.

depends what our options look like. I could see a situation where you have a force of mixed primaris and standard Marines, you use your primaris inceptor and hellblasters as your battleine, with one or two repulsors to give you a little bit of mobility, your inceptors are your high speed trouble shooters. flitting about to add firepower to high priority areas, Reivers are used as force multiplers to shatter weakened formations etc, (I'm assuming they'll be able to deep strike here BTW) you follow this up by moving rhino mounted tac squads, backed up with inceptor and agression squads in the heavier armed primaris transports.
in short most of the mobile work is done by flexable standard astartes while the battleline fighting is handled by the Primaris Marines. (one could also use transport packed guard for this light quick objective grabber as well if one prefered)
Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

One might say it's *puts shades on* repulsive. I agree though. I don't overly care for its aesthetics. I would much rather have Intercessors and Hellblasters taking up two slots in a Rhino than use a Repulsor. I guess thems the brakes. My current list doesn't even have room for any Primaris Marines in the first place.

That's entirely on the individuals involved, nothing intrinsic to this forum. You'll find similar behaviour anywhere a large enough group of people are talking about GW.

That's part of it. The bigger problem for me though is the fact that the grav plates look like a last-minute add on to a tank that was designed for tracks. It doesn't look like a super-high-tech new addition. It looks like a battlefield jury-rig.
I find myself really tempted to buy one (once they hit eBay at a discount) and convert it to have appropriately-sized tracks. I suspect that it will be a vast improvement.

Why are all the objectives in your opponent's deployment zone ?
Also, Inceptors.
Also, use Hellblasters instead of Intersessors and sit on one objective while blasting them off of another objective.
I'm currently building 6 units of Hellblasters, because nothing says DIE YOU FILTHY HERETICS quite like AP -4 plasma shots from from across the board.

Trust me, I am feeling you totally on the Hellblasters. They are basically exactly what I want out of a Marine. Too bad they aren't cheap, but they are still worth every point. Now if only GW didn't put that insufferable helmetless Sergeant in there...

Just swap his head? He doesn't have a helmet mag-locked to his belt like the other two helmetless models.
Edit: Do we have any information what is up for pre-order tomorrow?

Three start collecting boxed sets (Slaanesh daemons, Kharadrons, Beastclaw Raiders) and the Path to Glory supplement book for AoS
Some (not known to be reliable) sources said Codex: Space Marines will be available to preorder on the 22nd of July. This is from their GW store managers. Based on what GW officially announced this is very likely.

That is actually rather plausible. We know that STC designs are malleable based on the resources and technology available. The Repulsor could be a template designed for repulsors or tracks, and had it been built in the Great Crusade era the grav version would be sleeker, like the grav plates on custodes tanks, but since then tech is lost and now replaced with cruder repulsor tech.

Way ahead of you. I gave him a Mk IV helmet, which looks more or less the same as the Mk X helmet. I would rather have had his helmet maglocked to his belt so I could cut it off and put it where his head goes like I did with the other helmetless models.
