That actually sounds like an awesome game.

I was hoping for a pretty Chaplain, not Pimp Zombie Jesus (in Space!). Hopefully he looks better in real life (or the 360° view), although considering character prices I won't be sad if he doesn't. The Apothecary could be good, though.

I'm kind of surprised at the unit sizes in those two boxes. Reivers at ten men is a nice surprise to be sure. Aggressors at three, not so much. They're big, sure, but they look more like something Marines should field in units of five, not three.

To anyone worried about Reiver helmets, while it's obviously not proven yet, there is absolutely no reason why there shouldn't be full helmets in the kit in addition to the bare helmets. It would be hilarious even by GW's standards if they made cool skull helmets and then released them only in the three-pack snap fit box. Come on!

It looks like there are power cords running from the "mag" to the weapon, and possibly another type of nozzle aside from the bolter nozzle. Maybe it's a dual weapon, or a targeting system?

I can't help but notice that the Chaplain has nearly the exact same pose as the Gravis Armor Captain, except mirror-flipped. Not a bad thing, since he doesn't appear to have the belly the Captain does.

I am really hoping the Chaplain has a helmetless option (for those that want it) and the Apothecary has a helmet option (for me, since I am totally doing this guy as my In-Game Avatar and I would never be dumb enough to expose my head in battle).

Im not sold on the chappy just yet, and I usually love chaplains.
Its something awkvard about many of the dancingstep legs the primaris characters have.
I think I could probably use a mohawk skullhelmet from the reivers to make a sweet space wolf chaplain instead of that hooded head.
(its been a pain to fit beards and/or topknots on those primaris).

Speaking of the reivers, the grappling hook might be a combi grappler, doubling as a pistol.
Anyway, it makes me think of old action figures more than cool miniatures. But its no biggie.

I don't like how the Chaplain, Librarian and the Apotechary all seem to have some sort of robes. I mean it is a great look for Templars and Dark Angels and other chapters with similar style, but I would have preferred these generic character kits to be a bit more... eh... generic.

Yeah...I might need to look into doing an arm and backpack swap with the Apothecary to get rid of the robe (and give the body a Reiver helmet to to make him into a Chaplain). I don't mind robes/tabards (20 Sternguard speaks for itself).

I'm not concerned that the new SM codex is overpowered.. I'm concerned that it's reintroducing bloat.. which was supposed to be cut off as excess fat. Tossing it back in with the very first codex just feels like we were hit with a bait and switch. TBH, I kinda like how simplistic the indices are.

I do find it encouraging that Black Templars and Primaris are specifically mentioned together.. as I was literally building my starter box dudes as BTs. I am kicking myself for not ordering an Iron Halo bit from Trolls Under the Bridge with a recent order though.. as it would have made converting my own Chaplain waaaay easier.

The new dreadnought really is reminding me of the old school dreads.. and even moreso of the Epic 40k version.. I just wish the designer had been a bit more elegant with the front area around the sarcophagus.

Really like the new HQ models, and the helmets on the plasma inceptors are unexpected. But not thrilled about all the additional rules and stuff...I was hoping the bloat would stay gone...thats why I gone into 8th because it was simpler. I understand chapter tactics.. but the rest....I could do without.

Each SM Chapter will have 10 Warlord Traits to choose from and one additional relic (did the book even say anything about generic relics?).

How do you roll for warlord traits if there are 10 of them? Are they finally doing away with random generation?

I am pretty sure they did that already. Same goes for Psychic Powers.

At a guess those ten warlord traits are the generic D3 table in the rulebook, a general D6 table in the codex and an additional chapter specific warlord trait.

Also you don't roll if you don't want to in 8th ed. Same for psychic powers. You are free to pick if you please, or roll. There's a paragraph or two detailing this before each table.

Kind of. They give you the choice of randomly determining it or just picking it.

No they tell you to pick but alternatively you can roll and they number them.

well the bright side is that Primaris Heads are interchangeable with standard marine heads so even if there is no helmeted option (and so far all the character kits have allowed for a helmeted and helmetless option) you should be able to get a helmet easily. if you don't have a TON of spare Space Marine helmets already just ask at your FLGS.

Why are extra stratagems power creep? If they're well costed to cp they're more flexible...not necessarily more powerful.

I have a hard time NOT saving 2 cp for an interrupt.

flesh can be a paint to paint I've only recently discovered ways to do it that makes it look halfway decent myself. also helmets protect yer noggin and all.

me I tend to PREFER helmets as it means if I show up to play a game and it turns out the guy I'm playing against has this awesome moon scape terrain designed I'm not feeling silly
