Chapter Tactics seem much better than they did in previous editions. I'll be interested to see what the requirement is for using them - I suspect you'll have to have your entire detachment be from the relevant Chapter, similar to the way that Canticles work now for Adeptus Mechanicus.

The problem is those aren't very good. Congrats you assaulted conscripts and now you get shot by 300 shots in their shooting phase, but it's okay because chainswords give +1a

Assuming its absolute first turn, you didnt chuck a landspeeder or something else stupid at it first to eat the overwatch then proceed to halve the conscript squad with both assault and shooting.
not every army is going to be conscripts.

Weakest?! I'd say it is probably the strongest. It is insanely good, especially if you MSU. When I think all those CPs I used for rerolls in my last game, this would have let me do all that for free and much more.
IF is good too, and depending on the amount of terrain it might be better.

Yep it is extremely powerrful - although overlaps with Vulkan's ability quite a bit.
So with 3 detachments one CT or three do people think?

thats a bit of a pain - I guess you cna just roll 2d6 and if either gets a 6 then you ignore.

I guess the IF thing works quite well with bolt rifles or heavy bolters. Intercessors are going to be decent at bullying other infantry, with -1AP and no cover bonuses against them. Overall it's ok, if unspectacular. It does represent being good shots, which is good, and it stacks fine with other bonuses. My Deredeo is pretty happy.

Yep it is extremely powerrful - although overlaps with Vulkan's ability quite a bit. So with 3 detachments one CT or three do people think? I wouldn't say extremely powerful. It's potent, but its still only a reroll. Technically 2 as you can reroll a hit and a wound, but still. I can see it being quite useful for special and heavy weapons. Imperial Fists probably have one of the more useful CTs; no cover saves is going to effective against a lot of targets. White Scars have a good CT if you build your list for it, and it allows you to get across the field quickly RG one is situational - against an assault army it might not be that effective. the UM one is also situational - against a shooty army it might not be that effective either. Iron Hands CT is predicable. It's good, but predicable. Black Templar's CT is pretty powerful for an assault army. I'm surprised it's not that rule from 3rd-4th ed that allows them to move forward when they lose a model though. All in all, all of the chapters get a useful CT, so that's fine.

This will be annoying though as some factions now have to wait like 6 months to catch up giving marines a clear advantage for a bit. The -1 to hit for example will be devastation to orks. flyers, heavy weapons (when those factions don't get a bonus themselves for the time being).

Yeah, I hope they lay down something juicy. I'm already reconsidering my decision to make my Primaris dudes BTs and maybe just roll them into one of my other armies. As it stands I feel like they've overly diluted the chapters.. especially BTs and Salamanders... really hope my suspicion is wrong. If the only difference is strategems and the listed traits.. and BT players lost Emperor's champ or the unique structure of Neophytes and the specific units to their list etc.. then I'm definitely just going to nudge them into another force.

While I am disappointed that it doesn't do anything for the -1 to hit stuff, ignoring cover is pretty awesome. My list with 20 Sternguard, 10 Intercessors, and 5 Hellblasters is going to have some fun, for sure.

As a Salamander-player I'm torn on our new CT.
+ It's good. Re-rolls are handy. It's not amazing, but pretty good.
+ It benefits both shooty and fighty-units, unlike some of the other CT's who only affect certain units.
? It pushes for MSU/Combat Squads. Some may like this, but I personally like larger units.
- It's extremely boring. It's not Iron-Hands-boring, but still boring. It feels alittle lazy from GW, like they didn't quite know what to do with Salamanders.
- Almost no synergy what so ever with the signature weapons of the Salamanders; Flamers. If I could change one thing about our CT, it is so that you could, instead of rerolling the to-hit roll when shooting, reroll the D6 for the number of hits on a single flame-weapon in the unit.
All in all, I rate this new CT "meh".
I love my flamers, and currently Ultramarines do flamers way better than Salamanders.

That is something I'm wondering about though.
Are we going to be Chapter Tactics-less, or will we just choose one of these per FW?
Ya know, because I don't entirely mind just using the Black Templar one for Carcharodons. Nope, don't mind at all. No sir. No problem at all.
