I think I like the dread better that way too. I cant get the image of a man with a beer gut out of my mind when I look at it with the armor plates up.

As someone who was against Primaris when they were first announced I can feel my self caving in as the line gets more and more fleshed out....

I did a conversion of it based off not liking the weird double shoulder deal the original model has, having a huge square shoulder then a second rounded shoulder that's a complete design mismatch. I also brought the legs slightly closer together, and after putting a venerable dreadnought's exposed pilot in, had to tilt the torso forwards a lot because he looked weird at a 45 degree recline.

This as actually a very easy conversion to do, so there's definately a lot of room to customise the model.

Nice work - the kit (at a glance during that promo video) looks to be hugely modular, which is nice. Probably one of the most modular kits I've ever seen from GW.

So, turns out it was some big 40K news.

Made a thread for it here!

I like the layered plating look, the only customization I will do is magnets for the two arm weapons.
I really could have done without the "beer-gut" comment however... I will try very hard not to think of it that way.
It just looks big and mean, the way it should.
It is a really good kit, fits are really nice.
Looks like I will have my Black Templar segregate the Primaris folk into a separate "Crusade" so they can carve their own path as they see fit, which is very much the BT way.
At least I can include them in as needed without it being a different Astartes name / keyword.
What will I do with my Guilliman model? I was sorely tempted to go to the Ultramarine Primaris army as a form of retinue for that model... oh well.

Unless you just want to do it for fluff reasons, I'd say black templars are probably the worse chapter for primaris.

I am tempted to agree with you, that is what my "gut" is telling me, nevermind just the rules.

Thanks for voicing your opinion, I am not the only one that this new Primaris element has me scratching my head.
Possible long-term replacement for the marines we have now?
Roll them in now for the day my old army gets replaced?
Opportunity to create a new army?
I have no such confusion at this time with the new CSM models: it is all good, until the new Codex comes out I am sure...

Primaris DO have good assault elements that prevents me from writing them off in that regard as BT.
I cannot even bring myself to consider the Imperial Fists: either the Ultramarine smurfs or just suck it up fielding them as less than optimal BT.

I think I now know what it reminds me of: the front end of a sentinel tacked onto a dreadnought.

I would bet you half a ham sandwich we have already seen the last non-primaris (loyalist) marine models GW will ever release.

No bets, I suspect you are right.

They have everything in plastic for the normal marines they need.
I will be interested if they will bother upsizing / re-release any of the vehicles as well.

I have a ton of the old metal scouts so they will continue-on in my old army and the plastic scouts (which are much bigger) will get the spare Reiver heads with the hair sticking out.
It will look ace for snipers and I assume the scouts start off small and get bigger with time...

<edit> The good thing with these kits is they have many extra bits that allow upgrades for the more "basic" starter kits (Reivers, some get grappling hooks, some get grav-chute).

I think GW may still put out non-primaris characters, such as if they want to make a new lieutenant 2-pack, or if there are any classic special characters they think need a plastic update (were those rumors of being able to "upgrade" to primaris incorrect?), and they might even release another HH boxed set or two (I thought those did well?), but yeah, I'd bet 40k-era normal Marine squads and vehicles aren't going to see any releases.

With the whole non primarus lieutenenants being in the codex im hoping for a new commander kit with bits galore.

Tacticals, devs, assault, vanguard and ster vets are recent enough

i think the primary thing that needs an updating is the dreads, vehicles, bikes, terminators, and im sure im missing a few other smaller things.

It's a reference to the rogue trader peanut dread's body shape... It just isn't as obvious because of the sides of the model completely shifting the overall look.

Oh wow, that's cool, and with a teeny bit more work it looks like it would be fairly easy to make something approximating one of the old jes concept sketches(top right):

Have to agree with Elbows; regardless of what you think of the Redemptor design as-presented by GW, the kit is impressive.

God damnit I swore I was done after buying the infantry, now I want one of these AND I find out the Repulsor is actually closer in size to a truescale Rhino than a Land Raider so would make the ideal basis for a grav-Rhino.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

Honestly if you just built it without the open sarcophagus I converted in, you wouldn't need to tilt the upper torso forwards 45 degrees, making the pelvis more visible and matching that sketch very closely.

As for how I did it: You honestly just need to leave off the sides entirely after building the central part, take the circular parts that would have been joining the pelvis to the legs and use them to attach the arms. Then just trim the now-bare sections off the pelvis to narrow it, and trim a few bits of loose plastic that are jutting out across the model due to bits not being attached. It does leave some cavities under the armpits, but they aren't very visible and some plasticard or green stuff would fill them easily enough.

How are those Adeptus Astartes dice? Is there something I'm missing regarding the symbols? They just look more HUD techy with a large slathering of 'Murica on top.

The symbol on the six depends on the color- red is a techmarine cog, white is the apothecary helix, blue is the librarian skull, black I dont remember.

You'd think they'd be sure to have those visible in their image. I'd assumed that skull was the picture on the six you were talking about.

Has anyone gotten the new Hellblaster kit? I'm curious about the assembly of the weapons, it seems to me that it is impossible to assemble the weapon to look like the Dark Imperium plasma incenerator.

That's what I was thinking given that the skull is showing in every column but none of the other symbols mentioned are beyond just number pips. I guess that's a bad roll by the marketing department when putting them in the container for the shot.

I answered this on the last page. Rapid fire version (same as in DI): two cylinder mag. Assault version: add scope under barrel. Heavy version: add cable and backpack.
