Lets not pretend this is a black or white situation. They have been doing some great things. Others not so great. Others, terrible, like this... dude. Gladly is just a random sargeant without anything special, so they could charge 100$ for him, I wouldn't care.

At least he isn't a very cool looking plastic Chaplain in Terminator Armour that should have replaced the old resin one but for some stupid decision from the marketing team was made exclusive...
Man, I'm still salty for that one...

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Yeah, not sold on the Primaris marines. I did get one with the "start collecting" magazine (wanted another copy of the base rules), and I've painted him up as essentially a marine sergeant, but I'm not going out of my way to get any of the marine models - especially not the crazy-priced "special" figures.

However, I am a tank lover and picked up a Repulsor. I don't care what GW attempts to rules, I will be fielding it full of regular damn space marines.

It never ends well

So, rather unlike the previous poster, I love me some fancy special marines. I got myself the store birthday primaris captain and thought you all might like to see inside the box.

He's nothing special rules-wise - just a captain with different equipment. They've kept him to a single sprue, like the chaplain, and the detail suffers very slightly as a result. It's a nice mini overall though.

I might run mine as a crimson fist to make use of their relic power fist. Haven't decided yet.

I've just picked up my FB group's order of the Primaris Captain.

A possibly useful nugget of info is that the box is small enough to fit inside a small Jiffy bag (padded envelope), so shipping costs should be to the lower end of the spectrum.

Just need to go out and buy, erm.....50 or so of the things now, and begin the awesome postage.

Thanks for posting the rules Mandragola! I need to kitbash this loadout; I think it is way better than either of the standard codex options.

It's the "Store Birthday" Captain.

He'll be available at your local GW for their birthday, in supposedly limited numbers there and as an item that can be ordered via the in-store terminal. He'll be available at each store on their birthday for the next year or so.

This.

Stock is funionally unlimited during the Anniversary, which will hopefully cut down on Scalping. I've got 61 in my flat, ready to be posted out to their owners.

It's my local store's Anniversary next week, and since I keep an eye on these things on FB, there's quite a lot coming up in the next few weeks

Will you be taking another round of orders, or are you tuckered out after the present batch(61 man, jeezo ).

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

I don't know why y'all want that bland ol' store birthday Captain when the 40k 30th Anniversary Marine is so much better.

I mean, look at how expensive unique he is:

He has so many options too, like the ability to not have a helmet.

If this miniature of a type of unit that's only been in the game for a few months doesn't completely encapsulate the rich and varied history of 3 decades of 40K, then nothing does.

And he only costs almost as much as a Tactical Squad. Bargain!!!

Since the first ever model they produced was an ork you'd think that they might have done an updated version of that mini like they did for the Space Marine 2016...

I don't think I've ever commented negatively about this sort of GW model before because it doesn't seem worth the effort to bother but, I have to say, I'm disappointed by this miniature, it just seems so meh, it's a real let down.

Hmm as for the idiotically expensive 30th anniversary Marine...having been with 40k for 20 years now, and not having any Primaris marines yet, I think I could truly be just as happy with the one that comes shrink-wrapped with the getting started pamphlet for 8 dollars. Has a nice little scenic base and everything. And something to read!

Better yet, I should get the power sword-wielding Lieutenant as a single figure from one of my online bitz sellers. That pose really does kick ass, despite being very simple and straightforward.

Consider me extremely underwhelmed. This is why it's hard to explain the rose-colored glasses old grognards like me have for the 90's and early 2000's of Games Workshop.

I actually really like the veteran sergeant, nice bit of extra little details you don't get on the other guys, but the price for it is outrageous.

8 Months to the local store birthday...but I want that Captain now. Not sure I want to fork over eBay money though. Like the Sergeant, will probably pick one up just for Primaris completionist sake, and for some variation on Sergeants for the more static DI box squads.

I like the model as well. But the problem is it's the 30th Anniversary model for 40k and it's rather underwhelming for that purpose. And secondly it's ridiculously expensive. If it was just a sergeant upgrade then I think it would be better received. But it's just so underwhelming and over costed. A bad combo.

Yeah, the sergeant is a little bland when you look at him in isolation, but as it's the 30th anniversary miniature, you have to consider the history behind it. It's a homage to the first ever Primaris Marine, released so very long ago.

I got in on the big group order.. waiting for notice on shipping fees for that one.. Kinda sad to see the chest piece and arms and everything assembled in a way that discourages further customization. I had hoped to use the cape and other details as a base for the Chaplain I'm doing.
