Fenrir Kitsune wrote: If necromunda isn't based around the terrain and 3D nature of the game anymore - being board based - there's not much point investing in terrain, is there? Unless it's possible to purchase terrain rules for the game at some point?
It is not board based, it's just that box set features minimalistic, single level, printed cardboard terrain.....
Lol...is that marketing speak for "a board"?
I have some minimalistic future growth mystically imbued beans to sell you.
It's a genuine and important distinction between board-based and free-terrain-based mechanics. Nothing of what we know about Newcromunda backs your stance. By your definition playing 40K on printed mats could be called "boardgame version of 40K"...Do you need different set of rules for playing 40K on mat and modelled table? No... I would agree with you, that Newcromunda is a boardgame if it's mechanics was similiar to grid-based Deadzone and playable only on supplied Zone Mortalis-like printed tiles. Which it is obviously not and we are dead certain about it at this point.
I also play monopoly on a one dimensional card based illustrative terrainscape of famous London streets. Note I've never mentioned mechanics or gameplay, just the fact that it appears to be played on a board. Or "one dimensional card based single level terrain", if you insist.

I'll just go with my own terrain and stuff I have bought from non -GW sources. I still have the original rules and those can be buffed with inquisimunda
So, no thanks GW. You can't have my $.

I don't find it disappointing and prefer it to have no terrain (keep it cheap)
Rules seem more rogue trader mixed with the HH board games rather than 8th.

Grot 6 wrote: Question- Do you think the Warhammer Ogers will fit on a 40MM sector base?
Easily. They currently ship with a 40mm square base with plenty of room to spare so putting them on a round base won't be an issue.
Compared to the Ogryn, they are smaller. Do they have new Ogres, that are on the same size as the Newest Ogryn?
The guy looks kind of short on a 40mm base. Additionally, he is going to be just a head taller compared to my leader.
2 questions-
1.Do the Fantasy Ogres scale to the new IG Ogryn?
2. Do the new AOS Ogers scale to the older Fantasy Ogers?
Looking into alternatives for the Ogre attachment to the Gang, the one I have right now seems a little short fore the task.
On the issue of Scenery- These boards are Sweet!!! I am going to be gathering up another 4X4 board to add to the batch, as I also push forward.
My list on that is some more of that Mechanicus scenery, and add in the home made stuff from Lowes/ Home depot.
For the new board, I will be adding in depth with some 2 inch pink styro boards, and a resin sludge trench that I found for rail road water over in Hobby Lobby.
Here, Ogre on bases -

Another is investing in Pegasus/Imex Platformer stuff.
As the proud owner of too much of it, I can honestly say the Platformer stuff is terrible. It has some OK bits for trimming terrain but trying to build it is a nightmare, the clips always break.
First off - your Gothic/Chemical Plant builds look like aq lot of fun.
My suggestion to Q on the platformer sets is to do what I did - make the builds permanent, don't try to make them when needed. (Mine were combined with the Chem Plant to make a refinery. Always fun when the players realize that the terrain all has warnings about flammable material, and they are armed with grenades, flame throwers, and plasma weapons....
The same holds true for the Mantic terrain - it may be intended to be taken apart and reused, but you are better off making permanent builds.
Armorcast also has some awesome terrain bits - often designed to be used with soda cans....
The cans are glued in upside down, the small round bits fitting into what was the bottom of the cans.

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.

The Warhammer Community Forum that dropped the latest Necromunda update noted the first supplement, Gang Wars, would include rules for using vertical terrain. I figure if the new rules suck we'll just use Shadow Wars rules, leveling, etc., which are basically original Necromunda.

Interesting take on the needle rifle as well. The gnagers hsould give some good opportunity for Cultist conversions

Like I said - micro transactions
yeah, while NuGW has done some pretty great thing, they are worst than ever when it come to pricing and nickel and diming the customer.
But even then, I'm so excited for Necro than I don't mind paying through the nose for it. Really like that they said that there will be a lot of fluff and art about normal life in the imperium. THat's a lot more interesting than the ''superhero punch supervilain really hard when everything seemed doomed'' that the 40k fluff has turned into.
And I really really hope these upgrades pack are plastic also.

Necro specific stuff from the Q&A reported by Spikey Bits
Necromunda – Bespoke rules for the gangs and world.
No planned cross compatibility with major 40k factions (unlike Shadow Wars: Armageddon).
.
Looking hard at Necromunda backstory / lore to bring in additional models and factions (Arbites, lord’s guards, etc).
There’s a possibility of more Shadow War stuff because of it’s popularity.

I can't be the only one who wishes the Shadow Wars rules were re-released to be compatible with this new Necromunda...even if it was just a companion book a la Outlanders.
My problem with the way they are releasing NuNecro is that I'l need to carry around 2-3 rulebooks when i play "away from home". Or is this where we should try to go digital and carry a tablet to play my games?

Seriously, I think rules for the world, means stuff like the old rules for the different areas and wildlife of the under hive. Witch boils down to environmental modifiers and 3rd faction NPC monsters roaming the board. In the trailer at 0:49 you see a big tentacle monster mini after all.

Sounds line they will be taking on different Hives, and the Ash Wastes.
Bespoke!!! The new meme of 17!
At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Great news. Shadow war was a mistake as the game system was terrible + no fluff to give a damn about. Smart to stay true to the setting as it creates more of an emotional bond for players (nostalgia being an important currency in gaming)
