I should probably give this one another go. The armies that did well at Adepticon look a lot more interesting than the game I remember.

Good news for the game and fans who want those minis in particular. It does look like someone didn't want to cut a check though to Katee Sackhoff for the use of her likeness though, lol.

Legion has always been deceptively popular. A lot of its playerbase came into the hobby via other FFG avenues though like Netrunner and X-Wing, so a lot of them don't interact with the rest of the hobby community that GW raised.

interesting, it seems like MCP took alot of players from warmachine, and with that having a BIG comeback it seems like MCP players are going back to warmachine

Funny enough I'd argue MCP took a lot of players from Guild Ball which took most of its players from Warmachine, but your point stands. In general though Warmachine took a lot of its players from 40k and a lot of them left when GW turned over a new leaf in 8th. All the while these games also grow new players who might follow back into something else. There's usually people that are just generically good enough at games that will regularly signpost what's hot with their local playerbase by popping up as a big success at Adepticon each year.

The Mandalorian faction seems really cool. I'm not sure how many units they could potentially have though, armies might start to look awfully similar.
It looks like the initiates, warriors and kryze veterans already share the same sculpts. I suppose I could paint them in a color coded way to differentiate them on the tabletop.

They are very tempting which is funny to me because I was never a Fett fan but really like what they've done with the larger Mandalorian society. It does seem like its a very repetitive set of sculpts though, largely made up for by each member having a unique paint scheme.

It's certainly somewhat limited in what they can do and I think there's an expectation that all Mando forces will be relatively similar in units; it's the Clan mechanics and keywords that are assigned that provide variety (along with the named characters). They're not a full faction in the game; more a very specialized battleforce (like Shadow Collective).
In terms of sculpts, definitely a bit reliant on paintjobs to add variety although allegedly there are a LOT of options in these kits (albeit there's only so many poses in there). There's also nothing to stop players from using any of the pre-existing Mando sculpts to represent them either; the Clan Wren and the Maul Supercommando models (which have non-spiky helmet options) could be easily used as any other Mando faction.

And Clan Kryze? is it pronounced Crazy? Because that's how I want to pronounce it.
Mud Troopers? is that what the muddy troopers in Solo are officially called?

That's totally allowable but you have to model any helmetless mandos with grillz and wearing lots of bling. Automatically Appended Next Post:

Yeah I'm not sure why. I think just because in the film they're implied to be basic conscripts with gakky equipment, but snowtroopers were stormtroopers (elite at the time of the Empire) with specialised equipment (coats and hoods) so it's more believable that they might actually be referred to at least informally as snowtroopers

The Mudtroopers are Imperial Army, not Stormtroopers and they'll be presented as such in Legion (they've said they're going to be cheaper and not particularly great unless there's some stormtroopers around to 'encourage' them). They have alternatively been called 'Swamp Troopers', though that doesn't particularly help to distinguish them in terms of the naming conventions being discussed.

Imperial Army troopers is what I always knew them as .... 'mud troopers' is a terrible name IMHO. Maybe as an in-universe derogatory term used by different branches of the Imperial armed forces - I can see that. Not as bad as 'Shore troopers' IMO. (should have just been 'Imperial Marines' or something like that)
As for the distinction between Imperial Army and stormtroopers, it's always seemed a bit confusing to me visually, due to the equipment and role overlap.
For example, look at the tank driver on Jedha in Rogue One, and the 'Tank Troopers' that the heroes disguise themselves as in the Mandalorian show. The Tank Troopers from Mandalorian is clearly just the basic imperial army getup with a different helmet. The tanker in Rogue One is wearing that same helmet, but paired with white Shoretrooper armor instead. Then you have the AT-ACT pilot from the same movie, which is wearing just Shoretrooper armor (with the Shoretrooper helmet) but white. Where does the stormtrooper corps end and the 'normal' Imperial soldiery begin? The Tank troopers are probably IA, but everything else is rather murky. Are the AT-ACT pilots part of the stormtrooper corps? IDK why they would be, but their armor is literally the same as a Shoretrooper's but white, and the Shoretroopers are stormtroopers, sooo......?
Trying to make sense of it all is just asking for a headache. Disney/Lucasarts probably could have avoided some of this if they didn't insist on making a new -trooper variant every other day.

I'm glad to see a lot more coming out for the game. Its good to see it being popular.
I have zero interest in the game itself, but as long as it remains popular we'll keep seeing new kits. I like the plastic vehicles they make, and some of the robots and more generic star wars characters also have their uses, for use in my Judge Dredd collection. Its nice to have SciFi vehicles both in plastic and neither Grimdark & Skull infested.
