Simply put, plastic is allegedly over capacity and resin is made to order with its own workforce.

It would make more financial sense to leverage resin production to increase revenues at a time of plastic capacity issues.

So, if we're looking at making money (greed is splitting the Necro rulebook into bits over a year) then selling more resin would be better right now. So why nerf units they want to sell?

All I'm saying is people are projecting what they want to see and drawing 'conclusions' that support their view of GW. I'm no white knight, I'm pissed they're gouging away on the Necromunda rules. Equally, I'm not an armchair expert who could miraculously write perfect balance if ONLY he was allowed into Nottingham, and I'm not ascribing incompetence or malice.

Maybe, just maybe, it's their best shot in the time they had before print with the info they had? I dunno. Maybe it's just the DakkaDakka NegaChamber in effect...

Plastic has a larger start up cost but once the molds are made its pennies on the dollar to make. Lets take a baneblade, I know those molds are a little more expensive then normal because they use slide cores on them for the gun barrels. They are milled from a piece of steel or aluminum ( guessing here) alloy. Before they use to have to make a 3-up model and use a pantograph machine to cut a negative onto the metal. Now before GW use to have to out souce all of this ( usually Renedra) but for atleast the last decade this is done all in house cutting down on costs drastically. It's all done on puters now a day. I think they also use 3D printers for rapid prototyping for some models now.

With resin it's a lot more labour intensive. Making the model. Making the Master Molds. Then they make 2-3 more molds, then from those they make the production molds. Resin is a lot more involved then HIPS once the molds are cut.

I have no interest in Necromunda other then ' Are they going to make Arbites and Spires again? If so when?'

Necromunda? I thought it was the Khorne cultists vs the Slaanesh cultists starter kit!

Is there a permanent stickied thread for Chaos players to complain every time someone/anyone gets models or rules besides them? If not, there should be.

Aaah okay. I was gunna say, 8pt power swords would’ve sucked. Thanks for clearing that up

The force weapon reduction is my personal favorite change in the book. Most of the units that use force weapons aren't particularly good with them, and as a Thousand Sons player it felt like a serious tax to take one in each Rubric squad. Much less of a burden now.

Especially for whoever has staves modeled.
They are still not as good as swords, but at least don't cost more.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Silly question but....

Do they update the pdf codex that you buy on the online store?

Or they are just hopeless and you need to go back and forth among the various faqs, chapter approved and stuff?

I can't say for sure, but I believe the case is you need to go back and forth among the various FAQs. Pretty sad but I am hoping I am wrong, so I can start buying digital again. No use buying digital since the same price as paper and them not updating the digital means there is no use really getting it anymore for me at least.

The 6th/7th digital books did integrate points and errata. (At least the iBooks version).

Whether the CA points updates will get integrated into the various Codex books... it would be interesting to know.
Codex SM is on version 1.1, but the web page doesn't give a date for the update.

has anyone with a digital version noticed changes?

I actually found the format clunky for referencing material. With the 8th edition approach, it seems even worse, as you can't exactly stick fingers and sticky notes in the 4-5 pages you need at the same time.

I could be wrong, but since the book is out now, wouldn't this be a good time to (finally) close this thread?

Book is out now? I thought it came out this Saturday. If I am mistaken, I wonder how come my FLGS didn't inform me my order is in, unless he didn't get the order in and got it late again.

Thank you, will call my FLGS tomorrow and see if he got it in and forgot to notify me.

I have my CA, the store got it mid-week.

The reason I like paper codexes is they are Sooooo easy to update. I scratch out the old number and write in the new one. Done. No waiting fow GW, no worries that the update may have bugs or errors.

The rules update for any particular army, basically fit on one page. I'm going to just scan the page, print it out, and shove the printout in the index/codex.

I am putting point changes on sticky notes and putting them on the pages with changes. I don't like writing in books. Especially if GW goes ahead and changes the points again.
