Part tempted by Ravenor but depends what goes into it. If its just a hardback with cover art and a tassle bookmark I won't bother.

Novellas sounds like we are perhaps getting half as many stories for the same price (would fit with GW generally costing double in hardback). Then again perhaps they are only teasing some now and will tease more later.

Bit disappointing that the novellas are hardbacks now all of the sudden. But then again, probably only going to get the Bloody Rose one, so far the stories by that author have not been disappointing.

And this time around, only five stories in the series, odd. Was expecting another Guard story that pretty much copy-pastes an existing story into 40k.

It might be that they're breaking the novella series into multiple waves? Wouldn't be shocked if the hardback bit is related to who they could get publishing stuff. It's also interesting how many of the novellas are 40k compared to usual.

40K often had a good number, but with 10 Novella it was mostly evenly split with AoS. That makes me wonder if they are just teasing a few now and more will get teased later.

Don’t they usually release the novellas in collections eventually?

Thus far the Novellas have all been individual books released in sets, but where you can buy individual ones. They are longer than short stories and thus far I don't think GW has complied them into a single purchase ever. Even the ebook purchase gives you each one as a separate file (book).

I really hope the new novella series isn't just hardback. While a hardback version is nice, they recently released another hardback Novella, "Ciaphas Cain: Old Soldiers Never Die" - at £10. If that's an indication of the sort of price, then that's a huge jump.

GW is sometimes annoyingly odd like that. Then again most of their hardback books do get a paperback, just weeks/months later. If anything it might be showing that the novella are doing so well that they are going for normal distribution like their other books. Of course its a pain if you want to read them in physical form and have to wait for the paperback.

Thankfully they aren't too bad on books, save for limited edition lore/art books and when they shifted the Inferno reprints from 5 to 10 books in one go; which shifted the price from £25 to £50. Granted it means we get the whole set faster, but its a big price jump. Though my by count we've only one more 10 book set before its complete!

YES! A 5th Omnibus edition of Gotrek and Felix. Two novels and then short stories sounds like they are starting with the stand alone stories. Interesting choice as I'd thought the 5th would have been End Times, instead it seems that they will now likely cover all the stories and then End Times

And thank jeebus for that, the ET novels are very much best avoided. Indeed hopefully they keep all ET-related stories out of the Chronicles imprint to ensure no poor newbie is made to read them by accident, they can get their own reprint run later for the seven people who like them. Even setting aside my personal dislike for the ET as a whole, Kinslayer and Slayer are almost as bad as Deathblade, just miserable affairs.

EDIT: Ewww, I actually hadn't noticed that Eldarain. What a shame, especially since they stuck with the decent logo for Daemonifuge. Seems like an odd choice as well - these are clearly nostalgia products first & foremost, I doubt "brand synergy" with modern 40K is high on the list of priorities for the people buying these(often quite the reverse, I suspect).

I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Chronicles has at least a year before they need to touch End Times

https://warminiatures.wordpress.com/2018/08/31/warhammer-fantasy-classic-black-library-listings/

If you look at the Individual series there's at least 8 more to go of formal series to put into a single chronicles tome.

Gotrek and Felix could do another Omnibus before needing to touch end times (assuming that they keep.

Darkblade is another that could do with some omnibus editions; though I believe he's also got a comic series too?

Round it all off with a few collected individual stories and short story collections of the short stories not already in a collected volume. If they go back to one a month that they mostly had last year, then Chronicles could be completed in a year or two.

Personally I'd welcome them finishing the chronicls format and then cleaning up the BL website to better display it all.

To clarify I'm not a fan of the new logo (nor really that cover to be honest) I'm more excited it confirms the rerelease is happening. Deeply regret selling my copies.

Late night musing on the new Gotrek and Felix Omnibus and what it might hold. The description lists that there will be 2 Novels (of which one involves a Serpent Queen), 4 Novellas and a selection of short stories
Edit - also in a moment of late inspiration I checked Amazon where the description specifically states the two novels included, but not the short story nor novella titles

From the published books on the Black Library website and excluding those already included in the Omnibus 1 through 4 we've the following potentials:

2 Novels.:
The Serpent Queen - confirmed
Road of Skulls - confirmed
City Of The Damned - not mentioned as included on Amazon page.

4 Novella
From what I can tell the four stories included in Gotrek & Felix: Lost Tales, make up the currently listed novella style stories for them. Which would make the selection:
Charnel Congress
The Reckoning
Into the Valley of Death
Curse of the Everliving - bit of an odd one as this is an audio transcript for an audio story (or at least I can only find an audio version listed).

A selection of short stories:
Berthold's Beard
Golgfag's Revenge
The Contest
Marriage of Moment
The Lost Kinsmen (currently included in Myths and Legends and the only one of those 3 stories that isn't as yet in an Omnibus edition)

Which basically means there's a very high chance that this book will nearly complete the entire Gotrek and Felix adventures within the Omnibus editions. The only ones outstanding will be the End Times stories (which might well end up in an End Times collection for Gotrek and Felix or part of one specifically comprised of the End Times stories in general) and perhaps one of the Novels and a few short stories. Note that there's every chance that they could also include other short stories which might have been published, but which are not now sold on the BL website (my named selection above is based on what is currently sold on BL that I can find). Of course they might leave several short stories out to be combined with City of the Damned as a final 6th Omnibus, perhaps also with the End Times.

I want to read it if just to help support the notion that Xenos books sell and thus help toward getting more Xenos focused novels!

Ha, I feel your pain brother! Eldar seem to have been totally forgotten. They played a massive role in the whole rift, then we had two books and then years of silence.

If in doubt, there are extracts on the BL site: https://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/brutal-kunnin-ebook-2020.html

Dialogue shown is easy to read and follow with some odd spelling and slang thrown in, but the author did not thankfully go overboard with the orkyness, as some have done in the past.

Also, any doubts I had about the Crime imprint are well and proper done away with, almost done with the anthology novel and it hasn't disappointed either, so actually looking forward to the next Crime novel now. Still need to get used to 40k stories penned by official BL authors dropping hard f-bombs, but I guess as this line is aimed at a more mature audience, that's why they went with it.

IIRC, the former is an updated/expanded version of the latter. Adjusted for changes in the background since the first one was published.

It's a reprint of the classic brown book / Imperial Infantryman's Handbook a.k.a. Uplifting Primer (black book) and Munitorum Manual (green book) combined into one book, minus the Damocles Gulf content that was in the second edition (blue cover) of the Uplifting Primer.

I'd be shocked if this reprint actually contained any new content or the few extra pages from the Damocles Gulf edition.

Not really seeing a reason to do so, it might be nice if this reprint is in a larger format, which would make for a nice roleplay prop, but as is, probably not. Already got both versions of the primer.
