The implication is that it's a faction that has watched and stayed out of things. It's a faction that has waited for a time to return and/or become involved again.
The Kroot have done neither.

I'm calling a new Aeldari faction, personally, based off the ideas of the 'old Aeldari Empire' and us finding out that the Exodites were hiding something big.

Ynnari have been pretty active in the Lore though, helping both the Imperium (Gman especially) and other Eldar.

The "blob" looks like space nagash to me in all honesty.

I would say I have seen half a dozen things mentioned in this thread that are probably cooler than what it actually is.

I am preparing my whelm to be severely undered.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

This. It doesn’t fit. I would say ynari are the most active too.

Oh my god. That looks like a xenos hidden in the stars to me. It’s really happening isn’t it. It even matches the unsolved rumor image people were trying to claim was snake Primarch. So rak’gol looking xenos. Possibly even GW take on them.

Although if instead of mirroring it, you just rotate it 45 degrees and then overlay the image from the cover of the 3rd Edition Tau codex, it looks a bit like a Crisis suit...

I'd say Necrons with maybe the Silent King finally getting involved? Would work with the 'mirror image' figure as well, a suped up Necron Lord would be inpressive.

That's a double primarch prediction!

This is actually a half decent possibility too. At least as far as xenos are concerned.

Yeah, I'm falling into the camp of not a new army. Half the armies that currently exist are still suffering from being Index only against Codex armies. The amount of rage that there would be online if GW decided to stop halfway through updating all current armies into Codices to release a new faction (with everything that is associated with that) would be insane. Not to mention the current production issues with models, there's gonna be some explanation needed if multiple armies went with models being out of stock for so long while GW's very limited model production capacity was spent making a brand new army.

Due to the current circumstances of the game and the company, I cannot see this being a new army announcement. If I'm wrong so be it, but I'm thinking its gonna be Necrons and or Tau being announced. I do think a lot of people in this thread are taking the words FAR too literally.

Not sure how much harder GW can possibly troll Adepta Soritas fans considering they have already released plastic Sisters of Silence. But Jokaero Liberation Army would be a pretty good effort, on GW's part.

This thing right here is almost certainly going to be some kind of additional Space Marine tangent.

Again, announcing a new faction doesn't mean it's coming soon.

Though I think the next Campaign is probably by far the most likely possibility.

You are talking about the people who trolled their own fanbase with Sisters and then only released celestine and for every army lol. You think they will care about triggering some existing army fans? Duncan would laugh it off in a video.

So I've been thinking about this on the way home from work. First thing that got my attention was the straight line on the one side in the image below

Nothing in the universe or gases/stars is straight so that tells me there's something in this picture. The second thing is this "helmet" looking thing.

Near the middle you see a helmeted face with big lips. It's an open faced helm of sorts, looks kinda gaunt. My guess would be eldar of some sorts. So that's kind of a clue. The second part is the top of the helm which someone said looks like a panther. I zoomed in and I think it looks more lizard like which makes me think Old Ones. Which we know created the eldar as a race and as such, could have escaped/fled with some on their ships as workers/warriors, or whatever. So that's a theory.

Then comes my next part. Off to the side looks to be an "imp" like creature here:

To me this looks like a mephit/imp from my old d&d days. Even a mini balrog. You can see what looks to be a head and maybe wings, and down and to the left, what looks to be a clawed foot of sorts. If it's not, what could it be? A mini dinosaur? that would mean the lizard from the helmet is not Old Ones, but maybe Eldar Exodites? If that's the case, Eldar players will have a simultaneous orgasm as they've been crying for Exodites for forever now. And before you cry out "GW wouldn't release two eldar factions so close", yes they would. GW doesn't care about fairness. They care about making things that sell. And dinosaurs with lasers? Hells yes.

But what if that is both a varient of an eldar and an imp? Chaos Eldar making a come back? Holy jesus I would empty my bank account right now...

I would like to think it's more C'tan than Necrons. Though watching and waiting fits crons quite well. The straight line staff could easily be a necron staff or halberd.

Probably just Tau or Necrons. The wording makes me think Necrons though.

I'd be pretty livid if it was a new army. We've got so many factions with absolutely ancient model lines and a whole host of rules that need to be written.

The last thing 8th needs is even less focus.

I wouldn't mind a dual- use Old Ones/ Seraphon/ Hitech MesoAmerican Space Lizard faction.

Rak'Gol would be cool if they're as big and imposing as the fluff makes them out to be. Plus you probably wouldn't need too many if they're nice and expensive point- wise, leading to less need to paint.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

How does it, though? I'm not too knowledgeable about Necron lore, but i was under the impression that they are already active within the galaxy for the most part. They aren't all awakened, but i can't think of anything that implies they're watching the galaxy and waiting for the right moment to appear, they're already there - just not all of them.

The same goes for the T'au, as much as i'd like it to be them, they aren't just watching the Galaxy and waiting, they're already there and taking part in what's going on. The way this is worded implies some sort of outside threat that has just been biding their time until things were suitable for them to arrive, not something that's already in some way active.

If it was just a Codex for one of the already known races, then it wouldn't class as a huge, unexpected announcement.

I'm not expecting it just to be tau and necron codex reveals, usually GW just come out and say who's next, hype up 'HUGE' news for Open Day? Gotta be something bigger.

They said it's a HUGE announcement and although GW is usually pretty liberal about what 'huge' is they haven't made a big deal over announcing updated codex's.

Wasn't there some talk about a new Xenos faction being teased via the Chapter Approved cover by Atia?

The cron's machines have been watching the galaxy since their sleep. The Canopteks. Some crons have been awake a long time because they woke up far before they were supposed to.

Yes. She also in a separate post said Tau are getting stuff. If tomorrow is some sort of xenos release then year of the xenos is confirmed.

Earth

Not necrons

They haven't watched, they haven't waited, they have been active and waking for centuries now.

In fact this doesn't really fit any of the current races, tau haven't been watching and waiting, they have been actively attacking and expanding.

I think this is one of the two new races
