But GW should really do one of each of the races instead of all marines. This will give them more opportunities for distinct limited edition characters. That way it has also has something for everyone as well as keeping people hunting for the model they are after, with a bigger range of models.
Voss wrote: I... don't get it. Why did folks want randomly packaged single space marines?
Because blind packs are a HUGELY popular thing in Japan.
So GW has assumed everybody wants that.
Makes perfect sense right?
One countries culture loves X. So everyone wants X!!!
Yay!!!
You might want to go to closest toy store, there are literally hundreds of blind bag ranges there, of everything, starting on LEGO figs to small MLP ponies.
One country, you say?
I don't like this trend and probably won't buy these, especially seeing how stupidly low chance of getting the captain is, but pretending it's limited to Japan is quite silly...
Automatically Appended Next Post: By the way, chances of getting each one:
Yeah it is basically gambling, like loot boxes and collectable cards.

I think he was questioning the desirability of the chosen distribution/marketing method, not the models themselves.
Yup, I get that. My point was that people want them because they like them, not specifically that people want blind buy models... It's just the only way to get them if you want these particular models.
It looks like, may be wrong here, that the missing models are the ones found in the Space Marine Heroes board game, so that may be a reason for their omission.

These are the ones in the Space Marine game - indeed the four missing ones (Flamer, Heavy Bolter, Auspex, and Knife guy) plus the sergeant - I guess they couldn't leave him out of the "collect them all"-collection.

Might pick up one or two just to have a little something extra to unwrap on Christmas morning.
Nice looking models at the impulse buy/stocking stuffer price point. Not going to get into them at the collectable/duplicate level, But just a few to add some spice to the shelf should be fine.

What game was that from? I can’t see it on the GW website and my Google-fu is failing me!

Nice try. But that's not what I said.
Shame it wasn't something original though.
12 imperial guard officers from 12 different regiments?
12 heroes and villians of the armageddon campaign?
12 heroes and villains of the 13th black crusade?
12 lesser known Xenos species of 40k?
But I suppose that would be too imaginative

Yeah, a shame that they went with tried and true biggest and most recognisable, yet generic sellers for a first foray into these sets in an overseas market.
Lesser known, obscure characters would have been a much better option!
THIS sort of unrealistic, badly, or non-thought out, non-rational, personal wishlisting complaint is a perfect example of why "the internet" is treated like a joke.

Granted, after 2 "hero" ranges, it would be awesome to see a band of "evil" CSM as wave 3. Lord, aspiring champion, couple generics, couple of heavy and special weapons guys, and 4 generics that are marked to the 4 gods. Still marines, but got to have someone for the heroes to fight after all.

That would be pretty awesome. I would love to see something like that. Definitely would buy a bunch for a Kill Team. But a Space Marine "Villains" range would definitely be well received, I am sure.

For these reasons they aren’t going to do characters, but then also for price reasons -GW charge more for characters than this, it’d be a loss for them.
(Though 12 variant guard would be cool. But it’s Space Marine Heroes, which is also how the game is recognised).
I could have seen something like this if they were a scale nowhere near usab,e in 40k they’d get around to named guys or something, but people would just buy as cheap characters, I mean look at the price of clam packs now
So I'm guessing the contents of each large box of 12 are as follows:
1 each of the 1/12 rarity
2 each of the 1/6 rarity
2 each of the 5/32 rarity, then in 1 in 3 boxes, one of those gets replaced by the 1/36 model.
So if you were to buy an entire box you'd get the whole range apart from the rare model with 3 duplicates plus a 1 in 3 chance of either another duplicate or the rare model.
Can anybody picking these up today see if the boxes have individual code numbers referencing which marine they are as Sacredroach pointed out with the Terminator set? Mine *should* be arriving today so I will report my findings.
Nope not interested in this way of collecting no matter how cool the minis are. The idea is not new here but never liked the fact of getting duplicates etc. Rather get my money worth in something else.
Sadly no individual code numbers on these. That said I am really happy with my purchase I got 7 from my online retailer of choice and only got one repeat, the missile launcher guy Brother Remus. The scenic bases on these are especially good.
I can confirm the boxes have individual codes, they’re in faded ink on the left side of the box between the veteran sergeant’s legs. I picked through three sets, found five unique codes, and when I bought and opened them they were all different marines.
So yes, don’t buy an entire box set, you will get duplicates. One of the boxes had five copies of 18253.
I mean I watched the entire un-boxing with Kitetsu or some youtube guy...what the feth is the point? You get a mono pose guy, Who cares... You can make better guys or the same with a bit of green stuff etc? The entire point of box sets like SM or Deathwatch etc is making them individual... maybe a few years to late... because now days releasing Primarius which are predominately 1 ways to be and if want more have to green stuff.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Its like the basketball card craze in the 90's, people want the individual cards etc for what?. Mates just build the normal model they look better than what you get out of it
However, If want to collect them go for it (I find it crazy)
