I'd suspect the image is wrong and is just to show the number of paints you'll get, rather than the actual colours, as otherwise the paint guides will have almost reached as complex as they're going to get! With BGIME the paint guides got reasonably complex by the end, at least on a par with the current Paint Splatter type guides in WD if not more complex, so I'd expect something similar here.
Yeah, we know at the very least they are covering drybrushing in issue 14, I would expect highlighting to be covered when we get more new brushes. They might always go the old fashioned route of having us actually lighten colours by mixing!

I had the same problem yesterday here in the midlands at a couple of stores,
but it turned out that they'd had so much chrismas stock in there wasn't room for quite a few of the partworks as there are so many on the go at the moment and they were all hidden behind the counter so when I asked in the second shop they said oh yes, here they are
so well worth asking if you didn't already

Can you post if you do find somewhere in Cardiff that is getting stock in? Because that'd be interesting to me for reasons.
I've got a Maccolls round the corner so I'll pop in and ask there.

Folks, it's often best to go hunting on the Tuesday or the Wednesday.
Various newsagents are putting it on the shelves early. And even if they don't savvy Nerds are whipping round, buying multiples of certain issues. Not necessarily to sell on, but if you fancy Blight Haulers, why not three for £24?
In short? Just because you don't see, doesn't mean not stocked. If it's a local Newsagent, see if they can order issues in for you, or at least hold one. Most will be happy to, because business is business (and you'll likely buy something else whilst you're in. Like sweeties. We like sweeties. Yes we do. Mmm. Sweeties!)

WH Smith fethed up my pre-order of issue 10. Those copies they did get were sold by the time I visited the store and none were put aside.
Anyone know a newsagent that stocks Conquest, preferably one that will ship.
It was due Wednesday, and arrived this morning.

I had to go to eBay and buy my extra Haulers from the touts.
Not happy about that one bit, but some touts gouge more than others.
This has not been a pleasant experience, the magazine section manager who kept things going smoothly was away, and Ms Cant-do was subtituting. Apparently it was all my fault because I didnt put down a £30 deposit, per magazine. Hold on, was never asked for any deposit and I was pre-ordering via WHSmith for the last five weeks. and ask I ordered five I would have noticed a £150 deposit charge .
I remember her from last time, first she claims they aren't getting it in, next when I find out it is, she cant do any pre-orders. Then when I find I can and subsequently do I hear nothing from her.
I know what happened, she fethed up the pre-order and would rather lie through her teeth and blame the customer than admit she had done so.

I've heard from friends that Dublin is experiencing the same issues with new issues(well the good deal ones) being out of stock almost immediately. Smaller stores outside the city usually have better luck, probably same uk wise?
Something I noticed, and sorry if this has been brought up before, but the issue with the librarian seemingly had artwork of a primaris librarian in gravis armour inside the cover? Tease of future model maybe?

I'm impressed at how well thought out this is as an introductory process, it builds nice and incrementally into something more advanced, but most issues still have some reward to offer you here and now (playable rules or a new paint type to work with), it does well to avoid feeling like filler.
Also nice and practical - suggesting you use your blister packaging as a palette or repurpose your Macragge Blue for the clothing fragments on the poxwalkers is a nice touch. May not be much use to a more seasoned builder/painter, but it's a clever way of giving newcomers something to actually get on the table and enjoy for their efforts every week.

It is definitely a sign, IMO, that GW have given some serious thought on how best to attract new blood. Whenever these sort of 'how did you start playing' threads/polls appear on Dakka, you seem to get two large tranches of response; a bunch of players who grew into GW after playing Heroquest and Space Crusade and a bunch of newer players who got into GW after they ran a similar sort of partwork based on the Lord of the Rings game (with Hachette as well I believe). Personally, I think these slow build/slow burn partworks are ideal for slowly drip-feeding enthusiasm and interest in the hobby and I think it is a smart move for GW to do it on arguably their most popular IP.

Absolutely. Also avoids the potentially daunting prospect of walking into a shop for the first time completely green, or freezing people out with a big initial price point to get playing before they know if they actually like it.
I know it's a feature of the mini lines themselves, but having the DG and SM figures in actual coloured plastic was a masterstroke towards this end - a newbie has WH40k figures, mechanics and accessories they can actually use in a basic game in all of 2 issues and for less than twenty quid, without having to paint a single stroke. You could have walked out of a newsagent and started playing your first ever game within the hour,

If you can try find an independent news agent - mine is happy to order and save each issue for a week with no deposit. Smiths reservation service has always been haphazard (apparently one needs special training to put away issues for customers....).

I've been pondering if 'armies by subscription' might be applied in other ways. It seems clear Conquest has been very well received, and other than the double up issues, I've not seen it last on the shelves more than a day. Some issues have absolutely been 'blink and you'll miss it'.
If GW packaged up armies into say, 1,500 points or 100PL, and sold it at this sort of discount directly, with new elements arriving monthly, that may have a similar appeal. Downside is it's that bundle or nowt. Upside is GW's got someone roped in for a year or more via subscription.

I'm still narked I haven't received Issue #2! I've rang them a month or two ago when I received the first delivery, and I've just emailed them to check the delivery.
I probably wouldn't mind if it was 3 or 4 or whatever that was delayed, but Issue 2 has all the goodies to actually get me playing the game with my nephew. It's a really good way of getting him into it. I already have the rules online, but the way they break it down in the magazine is better than I can.

Issue 2 is available at Games Workshop Shrewsbury, there were a handful of copies in the storeroom found last week. Go to your local GW and arrange to have issue 2 reshipped to your local store. GW are pretty cool with redirections, however they can always say no..

Not until someone receives issue 11. The back page has the next 2 issues, so unless they mention it in the videos, we don't know further than 2 issues in advance.

Stupid question - the delivery I got last week had issues 3 - 6, I guess delayed for whatever reason.
Will Hachette "catch up" for the next one? Or should I expect the next one at the same time next month? What's the latest issue people have received in subscriptions?
