Oops, no idea how to choose location / country! For the avoidance of doubt for anyone else reading, I'm UK based. Have not found a way to get this to the USA or anywhere else (sorry!)

I haven't completed the order, but I started to put one in, and it let me fill it out with my US mailing address. The page (i.e. not chrome) even autocompleted it for me.

How do we know it's UK only?

It's in the FAQ:

How can I get copies if I live outside the UK?
We are sorry, but at the moment we cannot send copies outside the UK.

Wow, that was painful to fill out, it uses message boxes for validation messages and if one of the address fields is too long it throws an unhandled sql error.

All I picture with this is, as soon as it hits newsagents is getting to everyone of them and buying all the issues to get as many Intercessors as you could possibly need on the cheap.

Ah, reminds me of when I did it with the Moria goblin issues of BGIME. 120 goblins for £24, that was a good day.

Well, I've signed up. At least for the first month it seems good value. Will see after that.

I may be going blind but I couldn't see the first release date. Is it already out? The survey suggests some people might already have it.

Very interesting. Not for me like, but interesting all the same.

So...not that interesting then ?

I'd be interested, but once again, no USA option.

For NooBs I think it’s got real legs. £7.99 a week is pocket money. And as a demonstrably creative hobby, not bank breaking as a monthly treat from parents.

I also suspect this isn’t the one they’re hiring staff for, given it popped up nary a fortnight after the Staff Quest began.

Could be (and only could!) we’re looking at this, and something for more established gamers later down the line. I reckon a large centre piece in resin (possibly even pre-painted, ala the DeAgostini Falcon) is a possibility.

It’s likely postage issues with the paint pots as much as any other logistics.

So the pictures (and common sense) suggest they'll be working through the starter box models and associated kits (including a multiple-issue Dreadnought). I suspect it will be a long time before we see anything that isn't Primarines or Death Guard.

I want an Age of Sigmar one. Maybe that's what the new jobs are for?

I tried to subscribe but I knew there was no way they'd ship to Canada at that price. I haven't painted any of the primaris guys yet and figured it would be an ideal way to get them.

Is this on the shelves at news agents in the UK?

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

It will be - at least for the first few issues, if other Partworks are anything go by.

Any word on the release date? I doubt I'll subscribe but I'd be happy to cherry pick issues depending on what they're giving away.

Hachette aren’t showing it on their home page, so I suspect this still in the trial stage.

For Transformers and the 40k Novel collection, they ran four issues across 8 weeks as part of the trial.

Whether we’ll see this match four issues, or eight weeks I don’t know.

FAQ confirms it’s weekly

If it was fortnightly, I’d have taken the plunge. But not sure I can justify £36 on top of my regular spending.

This is a great idea to get people paint models, although I'm not sure I need a constant increase to my shame pile.

I expect I'll pick this up on an ad-hoc basis after the first couple issues when there is something really cool (and Orky!) attached.

I think it is a great idea and good way to get kids and newcomers involved. I don't think £8 a week is too much of a stretch and it is a steady drip feed of new models and paints without overwhelming the consumer. Definitely within pocket money range too.

I am surprised GW don't have some sort of subscription based model already - come to think of it, it could be a great way to build a new army, a little bit at a time in affordable tranches.

Out of interest - the Primaris marines, do they have Ultramarines heraldry moulded onto them ala the Dark Angels from Dark Vengeance or are they "blank" so can be painted up as any chapter?

Hmmm....thirty two quid a month. You get eleven quids worth of paint (after the first four), so in reality, you're paying twenty one quid for four issues and their respective models.

Looking it over, it would appear to be very much worth buying multiples of the first issue, and maybe two of the second, then actively subscribing from Issue 3 so as to get one of the more expensive issues free.

After that, it really depends on the contents of subsequent issues. I fully expect to see all the other easy to build kits wheeled out, alongside some of the more classic easy build marines/guardians/sluggas. Thing is, I wouldn't bother paying eight quid for five cadians plus a pot of paint. They're too cheap and easy to get second hand. So it really would depend on the ongoing content.

I'll definitely pick up four or five of Issue 1 for the paints though!

This definitely seems to be a trial release.

The online survey is asking questions along the lines of what extra subscriber gifts you'd like to see (USB stick, messenger bag, 'large scale' warhammer figures).

There is also a question as to whether you would consider paying an extra GPB1 per issue for access to extras including scenery. The current 2000AD collection had the option of paying extra per issue compared to the standard sub price to have access to a range of figures (Dredd, Death, Rogue Trooper, Nemesis and so on).

Think of the small print though. The painting handle is with your 7th delivery. I think the issues are being sent in monthly batches. You won't receive it for 7 months!

As i have just told my SO, I am giving up my usual 3 or 4 beers I drink in the evening during week to get this.

I'd think it might be a hit if it is visible in the supermarket's magazine section. Older ex-GW players might see it and decide to pop back into the hobby when they are pushing the trolley around with a nagging spouse.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

So long as they don't start putting "exclusive" models in there once they run out of existing E2B Primarines and DG, this looks to be a brilliant idea, and the best use of the concept. Not for "vets" really, but doesn't come at our expense in any way and is great for new players.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

Can concur, went into my local and there weren't any copies.

But for £2 I can't pass this up so I'll keep an eye on this thread.
I'm quite glad it's not one of those 'for £8.99 a week and 300 weekly editions, you can build a boat' that ends up costing £2000.

The Black Library book and magazine thing was really cool as well.

The issues for me are:

I doubt anyone will get first copies, as scalpers will buy them up and sell it all seperate. Throw the brush away, sell the paints and figures, and get... what... 6-7 for the figures, 1-2 for the paints, 9-12 pounds per two pounds spent.

After issue 5, what are they going to give us? a dreadnaught in x parts? A Blight Hauler in y parts? Scenery? More dice?

Saying that... scenery would be pretty darn cool. Imagine getting a few bits, and then learning how LOS/cover works, and at the end you not only have two forces, but a decent amount of terrain too.
