With a likely plastic Adeptus Arbites release in 2018/19 I wonder if there are going to be more plastic Inquisitor models as well and if/how they will restructure the Imperial Agents Codex for 8th with SoB getting their own book. I felt the 7th ed book's concept was good and would like something similiar. So Assassins, Inqs etc compiled into one book.

Something like that, or perhaps a Revenge For Sanctuary 101 box of Sisters assaulting a Necron tomb world (Sisters are fanatical enough to do that).

 Dysartes wrote:
Define "improve things" in this context, Melissia?
Hell if I know. I'd prefer a medieval plate armor look to go with the idea of Sisters being holy knights of the faith, but I'm okay with them keeping the same aesthetics as now (as shown by how Celestine looks, they can still make improvements to Sisters miniatures without changing the aesthetics) as well. Either way, it'd be an improvement over the current miniatures. Change is not inherently bad.

I'm more interested in whatever vehicles they might release for Sisters. The infantry? I've already got enough from the Raging Heroes Kickstarter. But vehicles to go with them will be cool. I just hope there will be a bit more to it than just a Rhino or Land Raider with a special roof.

I started to respond to it, but instead I'll just ignore the "political correctness" whining. It's just as silly an argument as it has been for the last... ever.

All I want is for the models to be good, and everything GW has done recently tells me that they will be. Although the wait was arduous, I'm glad we're getting Sisters soon rather than years ago, with GW's relatively recent slaughtering of the sacred balloon animal cow that was "heroic scale".

With Celestine still a month out and thus far from confirmed to be released, some couldn't help but notice that in an age where everyone and their mother got characters in plastic and there were even limited edition models in plastic, the first Sister to be released in over a decade was a resin model.

 Manchu wrote:
Yes, I took the opportunity to mention Sisters in just about every survey response. I guess I am skeptical that it took a formal analysis of a survey to get us here. I mean, GW itself was already doing the teaser jokes before that. So the alternative explanation is, GW already knew they had a Sisters "problem" but the survey indicated it was a Big Deal and caused GW to advance Sisters in the queue. So in that case, in 2017, Sisters were planned for release sometime after 2019?

The survey is likely the final piece of evidence, and possibly the one GW simply couldn't pretend wasn't conclusive.

When they released Veridyan, they release a limited resin model. Demand exceeded stock, so while they could determine there was demand, they couldn't easily determine just how much there is.

Celestine and the twins have been unlucky to me packaged with big bad centerpiece Cawl and some Inquisitor chick and GW couldn't have read solid numbers into that if they wanted to, and later on released on there own after everyone that wanted the model already had had ample chance to get it.

Personally I think they paid attention to these two releases but wouldn't commit to a full army because there was uncertainty left. Which, now that they went out of their way to do market research, isn't a concern anymore. I don't think it was a lack of awareness that caused them to hesitate (as you say, there was plenty of awareness to mock SIsters players in the meantime), just a lack of faith in commercial viability.

Repentia should do nothing of that sort and only wear purity seals instead. You may think white robes are pure, but they will never be as pure as purity seals.

Also skulls.

Veridyan was also the first Sisters model in so incredibly long, yet was based on the kind of Sisters representation that a lot of people very much dislike. In other words, it was Blanche. Instead of our badass warrior nuns, we got... Blanche.

For the simple reason that she was based on the cover of the very first SoB codex.

Veridyan was quite divisive, though even the people I saw who hated her design aesthetics (like me) were usually at least glad she was released because it was something actually new for Sisters instead of just the same character rereleased (and then immediately taken out of the new Sisters codex at the end of 7th edition).

The take away here is that all the complaints finally work. Hear that, everyone that said we should just shut up? HEAR THAT?

Seriously though, of course some people aren't going to be happy when the release finally comes, because some people are always unhappy with every release. All of the legit complaints though will go away, and that's what's annoying the folk who enjoy taking the piss - it's less a case of "what will Sisters players complain about now, fnar fnar" and more one of "what will I complain about now Sisters players will be happy", hah.

This. This a million time.

 Manchu wrote:

They were NOT planned for release. It's as simple as this.

"Our fantasy settings are grim and dark, but that is not a reflection of who we are or how we feel the real world should be. [...] We will continue to diversify the cast of characters we portray [...] so everyone can find representation and heroes they can relate to. Great news! It looks like they know what a big seller these are gonna be, so I'm sure they're gonna build up the hype.

I am hoping for a big range and not just a few infantry boxes. I think it's time for a few dedicated plastic vehicles not based on the rhino kit.

Given GW's willingness to make a full codex for the tiniest, obscurest or single kit faction, a codex that exclusively features Ecclesiarchy units doesn't seem farfetched. Leave the Inquisition for their own book. Perhaps this time even with invulnerable saves and power armor...

While Rhinos (and variants) are a given, and we'll hopefully, finally get a plastic Penitent Engine, after GW released a special tank for Death Guard there's really no excuse for not giving Sisters a chapel on tracks or something. although with the way they've pushed flyers for a while, perhaps some air support might be the safest bet. And as Dark Angels taught us, you can build your chapel into a plane, too.

It seems like an early april fools joke. Still not buying it until I see the new models.

I don´t have any problems with kinky stuff (combat stilettos, bondage, etc.). Although these design elements were used very sparingly by GW for the Sisters in the past, the violent & prude brigade think they are entitled to throw temper tantrums as soon as they think they saw an exposed nipple. You may not like it but the Adeptus Sororitas have a reputation for using more adult themes. Love it or leave it. Don´t hassle forum members who love their BDSM nuns with your medieval moral attitudes. Socially acceptable my ass.

Yeah, exactly. I speculate that a lot of Veridyan purchases were in spite of her aesthetics, for that exact reason - it didn't matter what she was or what she looked like, she was something, anything new, after such an obscenely long time.

Spoiler:
I notice that the new Squat didn't get much of the same reaction. Maybe it's because Squats have always been completely ridiculous?

It's actually more of a "we'd prefer less booby armour, but we're okay with it", and certain people like to take that and turn it into "Sisters fans are never happy! They want them to be rated U!!!".

A portion were, to be sure. I'm somewhere in the middle I don't have a problem with Blanche, but I really don't like high heels. Didn't hesitate for a second though and went and bought one. I even painted her, which is more than can be said for most of my metal Sisters.

Veridyan and the Squat may just be the difference between an army that was literally squatted and one that was kept around without support. People could at least try to make something out of the meager offerings the metal Sisters range and whatever passed for a codex provided and thus cultivate and retain an attachment, while never even getting the chance with Squats. And classically, Squats aren't associated with Necromunda specifically, so I doubt a Squat has quite the same appeal there as in the main setting.

I'd say "fracturing," to emphasize it wasn't a two-way break. I like the painting but I don't think it translated very well into a miniature. Plus, while it was surprising to see any new Sisters miniature, the idea of a painting-inspired, limited edition resin miniatures was - to my mind - anything but cause for hope. Revising the limited status of the figure, however, was clearly a good sign.

Isn't the implication there that GW has currently, at the end of 2018 Q1, pretty much nothing accomplished on this purported 2019 release? That would really explain the "Emperor willing" qualifier ...

This. I love Sisters and the painting is probably my top WH40K artwork of all time but the model was pretty meh. Her head is too small.

Honestly it baffles my mind that they didn't have them planned earlier given they decided to bring back GSC and bring Custodes and all a long time ago but everything points to this being the case.

That sounds like a tall order, considering the entire line needs to be redone barring one SC and her personal bodyguards. Unless the initial release will be somewhat modest?

Yes, it makes me very nervous to see GW announce they can be bothered to finally do something wity my favorite army, which they have mockingly neglected (seriously, there are plastic Sisters of Silence models), because they can be used as a vehicle to experiment with marketing. Experiment with your dumb sea elves and give Sisters a normal release.

I honestly believe they are announcing them so early in development not as a marketing gimmick, but to preempt the competition. They don't want people to fill up on Shieldwolf sisters and only buy a taster of GW sisters for dessert.

Does the immolator/sororitas rhino need to be redone? It's already a nice plastic kit, better than the current space marine rhino, so...
Which leaves, as kits needing to be redone : sisters on foot, seraphim, immolator, possibly canonness. Since the Sister's range is quite small, that makes not so many models.

Wow, poor sisters players. After all their waiting and begging, they get: "Hey, we'll finally do them! You can get some about a year and a half from now. Or more, maybe. Who knows. Maybe two years."

Plus, showing off in progress stuff on them seems like a really terrible idea. It's only going to result in complaining and arguing about them.
