on the forum. Obviously

Ah, I must have been thinking of the Templars then. The Militia are indeed a group who technically do not break the degree passive, as they are just imperial citizens who just mobbed up and joined the crusade.
You can't really police that. They aren't an actual army with a supply chain and command structure, they're just people.

Instead of leading a regimented, structured life among their fellow sisters, they open themselves up to the glories of the Emperor, leading the lost flocks in his name. I feel like that checks out, thematically.

Damn, now I want to make an army of Templars, Sisters, zealots, flagellants and assorted faithful. Sort of like a 40k People's Crusade.

Nope. Crusaders are just "private" bodyguards, not part of a standing military organisation. Frateris Templar were disbanded in the 36th millennium.

Nah, I'm just pointing out that an incredibly obscure sub-faction was introduced into the game with plastic models before an existing faction. The fact that they are both "Sisters of ..." just makes it sting that much more.

I mean, they were introduced via 30k, where they weren’t obscure like in 40k. As soon as they made a 30k game, SoS were a likelihood, and they’d made the models so why not use them in 40k too.

I, for one, do not wish to see self-mutilating Repentia sisters. Placing yourself in danger to prove your worth and earn your absolution, is an entirely different concept to self-harm for the sake of punishing yourself.

I think their models are a bit ho hum but I actually like the concept (and art) for SOS. I'm fine with anything getting plastic models. Indeed, there are few plastic kits I'd rather see ahead of line of SOB (new IG, new CSM) but I feel like with SOS it was really, really reaching. Plastic Custodes was already a shock - and then also plastic SOS? What in the world? This is why I started saying, we'll see plastic Jokaero before plastic SOB because GW would rather put out any other (IOM) plastics. And then they announced a new Squat figure LOL.

Both make sense, from a viewpoint of religious fanaticism. But sure, I think the former makes more sense in this context (tabletop miniatures battles) than the latter.

As long as they maintain the aesthetic of Blanche and modernize them like Celestine & her Gemini we should all be happy.

I second the body horror stuff for repentia. They should look out of place on the battlefield, armoured only by their devotion to the emperor.

All I see is GW telling me I have to wait until next year to get my SoB objective cards. Probably right before 9ed drops, last to be updated, first to be outdated...

I would much rather have my dex and cards now with a nice new release of plastic Aspect Warriors to cleanse. Something has to get Eldar players off the Dark Reaper train

I mean, flagellants are also an interesting, Gothic concept which fits into the setting, but Sisters, who've trained their entire lives for their bodies to be instruments for the Emperor, wouldn't want to intentionally self-harm, as that would reduce their own usefulness.

I don't see why you couldn't have both flagellants (which could be civilians of both sexes) and Repentia sisters as separate units, or flagellants lead by Repentia sisters.

Perfect, that kinda look with some varied head options and a eviscerator is exactly what I'd like to see.

The "sexy leather strips" look doesn't really fit the concept, especially with an armoured sister chasing them about with a whip.

This is great news!!

Really hoping for some sort of sisters-type terminators. I don't want them to totally have to just follow a 'girl-marine' aesthetic, and be 'Girl-min-a-tors'.I just think they should get some BIG armored troopers of some sort.

I think there's a lot they can really do to make the sisters into something very different from the other 40k armies, and if they are going to be as open to the community about the process as they claim, it would be cool if they allowed us to 'pitch' ideas for what might be cool. It would be a lot of stuff, but I guarantee they'd get a few gems within it, things that they wouldn't have considered, and things that would connect the community to them a lot more as well.

Plus, showing off in progress stuff on them seems like a really terrible idea. It's only going to result in complaining and arguing about them.

So ... no change, then? Two years is 2020, so you're exaggerating somewhat.

Are you talking about the same announcement as the rest of us, or just making stuff up?

As we literally know nothing and GW hasn't shown anything, not even concept art IN THEIR ANNOUNCEMENT TRAILER should we assume they haven't even started working on them?

Er, no. we should assume that they've already done a lot of the work already and just not shown us it. Or do you think they only did all the design work on the Idoneth Deepkin in the last week, because they hadn't shown us anything until this morning?

Haven't GW said it takes about 2 years from concept to product? When they said "Emperor willing, the Battle Sisters of the Adepta Sororitas will be ready to take the fight to the renegade, the heretic and the unbeliever in 2019." does that mean a more realistic release would be 2020 as the wording strongly suggests that we need a miracle for them to be done in 2019? So December launch 2019 if a miracle happens?

Or they said "Emperor willing" because this is, you know, the army of the Ecclesiarchy, and it's just a little shout out?

With all due respect, there's no way that an open Sisters design process won't be a lightning rod for the boob armor/high heel debate. I don't think I've seen a SoB thread that hasn't devolved, angrily, into that debate, and I've never seen one of those discussions end without a locked thread and mod warnings. We've always sort of just agreed to disagree and begrudgingly went our separate ways, but since no conclusion has ever been reached, it's just sort of there, boiling beneath the surface, waiting to explode.

(I have no reason to believe that GW won't make amazing models - the Daughters of Khaine didn't sacrifice anything and even has an older topless model and nobody seemed to be bothered by it - but the community has never come to consensus on the whole boob armor thing and I know of a lot of passionate people on both sides)

Not a SoB player myself, but I'm glad to see that an army which needed updating is getting new models. I do hope the new range is large enough to field a proper SoB army and that SoB players are satisfied with their new toys.

Because wishing for GW release a bare bones half-arsed army out of pure spite due to my own faction not getting proper love is such a petty, sad thing to do.

Was going to quote multiple posts from the first pages, but this post by MadCowCrazy to a degree sums up some of my fears of what could happen AFTER GW starts putting out the previews. I have a fear that some of "those who must not be named" groups might infect the SoB project just enough to change the SoB into something that the SoB are not in aesthetics of the models, art and lore.

Spoiler:

Just look around every entertainment industry and you will see it. LGBGFWERGFRGVADFVWVASDFVAWADSFVASDVW comics that only feminists and sjw were asking for that has the lowest sales rate of all time. Blizzard Entertainments Alexstrasza that got the rectangle body type in Heroes of the Storm despite her look in all of their artwork and ingame model in wow.

Then we have GW who gave Celestine and the Geminae rectangle body types.
I suspect that all the sisters models will have the same body type as Celestine. I sold mine because I didn't like the way she looked. I prefer the female body type GW uses for all their other female models, Sisters of Silence look perfect to me and I had hoped GW would use that body type but they wont.

GW are going to use the Celestine body type, feminists and sjw will still complain about everything being sexist.

So here is what's going to happen, 100% guaranteed!
GW will show the design process, feminists and sjw who represent less than 1% of hobbyists will complain about everything all the way through. GW have already caved in and will make ugly rectangle bodied generic women with male faces to make them happy. Models will then sell like excrement and GW will have no idea why and blame it's customers for it.

On the other hand alternative sisters models will see an increase in sales by several hundred percent because they will be making the models that gamers actually want.

So the market for alternative sisters models is going to be stronger than ever because people are going to buy what they like the most.

I suspect the only models I'm going to buy from GW are penitent engines and other vehicles but will have to change the female models of alternative models. It's going to be interesting to see what GW do with repentia but I expect them to be fully clothed with rectangle bodies instead of the hourglass figure GW uses for all (currently on sale) other female models.

This is a sad day for sisters collectors like me, this is going to be one drawn out "mud"slide down the latrine. The feminists and sjws are going to make so much noise that "news" papers, social media and perhaps even politicians will be drawn into it by the 10 or so feminists and sjw claiming to be under attack by the nazi sexist misogynistic GW... GW have already caved in to these people so what we will get are rectangle male faced sisters or what is essentially female space marines.

Now going on beyond my fears. I'm at 50/50 between "I'll believe it when I see it" and super exited about plastic SoB coming out in 2019. I will be putting aside a little bit of money every month in anticipation of release.

I hope that we get a wider variety in the armor bling. For example how the SM tac plastic set has a variety in the bling on the chest decoration, and would love to see similar variety in the armor bling for the SoB and would like to see something that leans slightly to what we see in the SW plastic box set in terms of the amount of bling and decoration.
