You're tellin' me.

I can't make out a damned thing in that pic (except maybe 4 Ur-Ghuls) but yeah... tiny hex tiles?

Oh, I was really excited for this until I saw the hexagonal tiles. They better be freaking amazing, or the immersion is totally gone immediately.

Hex tiles are surprising. But they worked well in the Calth game and they do provide a lot of options when building the board.

Yeah, I think Calth tiles worked fine for map building.

Hex tile dungeon crawling? So I assume map generated like Lost Patrol

The tile are so dark you can't make out of anything but the drone, the big robot, and a chainsword wieldy baddie with a flying pose.

Looking at the tiles, wonder if this is a ‘rolling road’ game?

Those prices really took the wind out of my sails.. I was hoping to get it for my school as a part of the School Alliance, but that is way too much of our budget.

I do t know what was in Calth but it doesn't look like all the hexes are individual. It looks like there are a series of hex based rooms and corridors linked together to me. The patterns on the floor look a bit too well continuous for them all to be separate hexes.

Really disappointed by the look of that, don’t like the look of hex tiles, there’s a wafer thin rule book.

And it was going so well.

Calth had bigger map sections that had several hexes in them. This game propably has similar set up.

Hexes work better for movement than squares, so I'm not against the game using hexes.

I wouldn't believe that they showed every single tile of the game in this picture. I'm pretty sure they didn't show all of the tiles in similar pictures of "Space Hulk". There are likely to be more tiles in the game than shown. Also I don't mind a small rulebook, as long as the rules are clearly stated, interesting and an additional campaign book is included (i.e. as in the "Star Wars Imperial Assault" boardgame... or the old Hero Quest).

I'm more worried about no sign of such a campaign book. It would be a real bummer, if it's only meant to be "random" games with no progressing story. During the storytelling so far they spoke about how the floors in the blackstone fortress are always changing directions and such... I hope this is no indicator for completely random maps. That way they'd be able to sell it to the players as a "new" experience in every run... or add new "levels" by simply changing the victory requirements, which would require next to no effort.

I'm actually not too disappointed by the price, less than 100 Euro.

I may also be alone in linking a thin rulebook. I'd like a cool game that is not too complicated, that should be easy to play with family and friends not too familiar with GW games. Underworlds has so far gone down really well because it has such an easy to learn set of rules, even though there's plenty of depth and variety to be had. From the blurry pic there seem to be a lot of cards in this game, so I'm guessing there'll be plenty of different rules even if they're not in the book.

As for the tiles, I'm withholding judgment until we see more. Calth had those and all reviews I've read of that game say it is really fun. And they make sense to me when exploring a continually shifting fortress.

Oh, whoops, I was looking at the GBP price, I see now. My bad. And then yes, that's somewhat disappointing; then the exact contents will make much more of a difference on whether or not it's worth it.

£95.00 seems reasonable enough to me.

Do we reckon pre-orders next weekend then?

Glad to see the ancient leak tradition of a photo taken with an 80's polaroid, in a wind tunnel, during an earthquake is maintained!

Ah I didn’t realise the seminar was tonight. Thought it was Sunday for some reason.
Is that the whole thing, I.e. Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Realms Of Chaos etc,
Or do they have multiple seminars across the event?

Well, the game components are definitely underwhelming. We'll see if the 30 odd minis alone justify the price tag.

Looks like there's a heap of cool looking blobs in this game though, and wasn't expecting the tiles to be hexagons. I'm keen to see the proper reveal.

I think it’s an enlarged and zoomed in photo from the full page/poster.

(Or as some would say - it’s all GW wanted you to see)

Probably from a holiday checklist booklet.

Ooh, renegade Guard. Hopefully they’ll come with autoguns or be able to slot into every existing Chaos army in place of Cultists. I’m really starting to dislike the current Cultist models the more I work on them.

These overhead shots usually show everything you get in the box, dumb to do otherwise from a marketing perspective.

Between the single suspiciously thin book, small amount of tiles plus (yawn) chaos baddies colour me un-enthused. As previously suggested, I strongly suspect that this will use a 'Lost patrol' moving and re-shaping map, recycling the tiles as you go deeper into the fortress. The fluff mentions the maze like and ever changing nature of the internal structure.

On a positive the adventuring party look like a cool diverse bunch and I am still hopeful for some innovative mechanics but I think I am growing a little wearisome of the GW boxed sets with very light rules treatment. I love that they are back to doing boxed games again but they need to step up with the rules depth some of them are offering. I just don't think their business model is designed to achieve this compared with other boardgames on the market.

A chaos/renegade marine with hammer is very cool and uniqe concept in 40k. I like it.
Also the lack of daemons mutants and "marked" units (so far) is nice and would speak for certain legions like IW.

Not sure the book is as slim as people are making out.

Looks to be the same thickness as a standard Citadel Slottabase. Whilst by no means thick, that’s still pretty far from a pamphlet or couple of dozen pages?

For reference, silver tower had 13 double sided tiles and shadows over hammerhall had 18 double sided tiles. So it seems likely that this game will have somewhere in that range and I'd expect them to be double sided.

I'd also expect it to have randomly generated maps like silver tower (as opposed to pre-defined ones like shadows over hammerhal) given the reference to the BSF constantly shifting and changing. In fact, silver tower used similar language to describe the dungeons. I think this is good as it will add repeatability and may account for there only being one (slimmer) book.

Most events and instances will most likely be generated through cards anyway, leaving the book(s) for core rules and delicious fluff.

The Canadian price is identical to Silver Tower and Shadows Over Hammerhal - so exactly what I was expecting. I'll need a better look at the contents to see if it's worth it, but the price isn't a surprise.

I have no idea how you make that judgement from that picture lol

It may well be weak, but good games don't require a lot of pieces.
