Hello there! It’s been a while since my last post in this thread. Today, I’m back with some pictures of finished stuff I want to show you.
Before we get into pictures, I want to explain quickly how the idea for the miniature I’m about to show you started out. Now I’m sure many of you know the classic ‘80s movie Robocop. I recently rediscovered this movie by stumbling across the gruesome scene at the beginning where Alex Murphy gets violently blasted to bits by a criminal gang. Diving deeper into the subjects of transhumanity, artificial intelligence and the associated body horror, which I find incredibly exciting and intriguing, I discovered that many of the gory and sinister themes in that movie would work really well in the equally dark setting of Warhammer
40k. Watching scenes from the classic movie and the sequels, I really started enjoying and appreciating the Robocop franchise more and more. While googling, I also discovered this very cool
40k crossover artwork by Blazbaros over on Deviantart:
Finally, I decided to combine my interest for the awesome Robocop setting with my love for the
40k hobby by building a miniature for my own, custom Robocop. As luck would have it, I had a perfectl fitting head already at home, because I had ordered a batch of cyborg heads from Puppetswar a while ago. I quickly realized however, that I would need very special, custom bits to recreate a matching body for the miniature. I finally found what I was looking for on Anvil Industry’s website, where I ordered a selection of robotic/bionic conversion parts for this project which was already taking shape in my mind. When all the parts finally arrived, I of course couldn’t stop myself and started clipping, cutting and gluing right away until the miniature I had envisioned had become a reality. I was very happy with the result of the conversion, which motivated me to instantly move on to the paintjob, which was thankfully quite straightforward, quick and easy. I blasted through it and the result was also much to my satisfaction.
With the miniature completed, I figured I had to write some fluff for the character as well. It was only then that I realized that at least one other person had also had the same idea before me (should have seen that one coming

), because a similar Robocop inspired character is already described in one of the fanmade, unofficial Adeptus Arbites codices that float around on the internet. Oh well, I guess that’s alright, because it saves me the hassle of writing the fluff myself, something I was never that good at anyway. So instead of subjecting you to my subpar writing, I have copied the character entry from said codex to share it with you here:
Man, I wish I could come up with such cool, grimdark fluff as the authors of this codex.
With all that other stuff out of the way, I think it is high time for me to show you some pictures, right? One last thing though: While I do really like the fluff for this character from the fan-dex, I have come up with my own name for him, which I will use because I prefer it. SO without further ado, meet
”Cy-Marshal Hyram Lupex”!
Cy-Marshal Hyram Lupex was assembled from conversion parts from both Puppetswar and Anvil Industry, as well as some regular
40k bitz like the bolt pistol and scout shoulder plates.
The paintjob on this guy was realitvely simple: most of the mini was basecoated with
GW Ironbreaker, then washed heavily with Nuln Oil. After the wash had dried, I reapplied Ironbreaker in a drybrushing technique to pick out the raised surfaces and give the metallic body back its sheen.
Certain parts remained black and received a blue/grey drybrush, like the abdomen and the chin areas. The bolt pistol was painted in the usual red, as on all the regular Arbitrators in my army.
The torso part was initially a bit too large for the miniature, so I had to remove one segment from the bottom and slice off the belt to be able to make it work with the legs. The set of legs has an amazing amount of detail, especially on the back, but the one thing it lacks unfortunately is any semblance of a butt. Ah well, I guess Robocop doesn’t need a butt anyway, what with him being a cyborg.
The cool thing about the Anvil Industry arms is that they are completely poseable in every joint, and they also come with a selection of different hands to create almost any pose you want. I decided to go with that pointing hand for his left arm, seeing how he is most likely going to be an important character leading the other Arbitrators on patrol. A final, top down shot to let you appreciate some of the other details:
And now, as always, let me wrap this up with a scenic action shot:

And that’s it for today! I hope you all enjoyed this long-overdue update and the custom character I created. I’d really appreciate any comments or feedback on the stuff in here! I still have some Arbites stuff lying around unfinished, but since I’m currently working on other stuff, I’d suggest you don’t hold your breath for the next update. Anyways, have a great day, bye!
