Subject: Mini-Movie Reviews- What You Are Watching.... in Miniature
I must be honest and say that I wasn't expecting much from Rebirth and yet its a surprising improvement over at the last three films. Its not going to blow anyone away like Jurassic Park did in 1993, or even Lost World in 1997, but Gareth Edwards has done a decent job.

Never heard of Screaming 8. I look forward to your review.
Minecraft
The Jason Momoa Movie.
The kids put this on to pass time, and for that it works.
Turns out Jason Momoa is a gifted comedic actor. He had great chemistry with every other actor, especially the unisex turquoise blouse guy. We laughed a lot in the first half.
The plot and action scenes of the movie were exactly what you’d expect. For kids who’d never seen all the tropes and cliche character beats before, I’m sure the film rocks socks. I spent most of the last 40 minutes looking at my phone.
There are certainly worse movies kids could force you to watch.
MST3k: Manos! The Hands of Fate
It’s Torgin’ time!
Not the funniest or best MST3k, but one of the most memorable.
Had managed to avoid all spoilers, and it was nothing like I expected it to be, as it’s not a retread of what came before.
Absolutely loved it. But that last scene has piqued my interest!
Megan 2.0
Really good! I enjoyed the first one, and this was a step up in story and overall quality.
It’s far better than its box office suggests.
Automatically Appended Next Post: For clarity, Secret Screaming 8 isn’t a movie in itself. Rather it’s a pre-screening of an upcoming horror flick. But you don’t know which until it’s show time.

Fed up of Scalpers? But still want your Exclusives? Why not join us?
Not the funniest or best MST3k, but one of the most memorable.
MST3k: Space Mutiny
The one with Blast Hardcheese.
This one was funnier, and very quotable.
MST3k: Warrior of the Lost World
Megaweapon! Megaweapon! Megaweapon!
The one with Megaweapon!
Could have used more Megaweapon.
Bang on on Manos.
Space Mutiny surely is among the episodes I watched the most. It's just so much fun.
Geez, I haven't watched Warriors of the Lost World in a while. Wasn't that one the one which starred the guy from Paper Chase? (not that I ever saw that film. )
Danny and Michael Philippou’s Bring Her Back (2025)
These dudes debuted big into the horror scene, having written and directed 2022’s pretty damn excellent Talk to Me .
Their latest effort didn’t feel as well put together. There’s something here that could’ve been wild, and there are definitely disturbing scenes and imagery, but it never pulls it all together in my view. Felt like it was trying to be a few different types of horror movies, but wouldn’t commit.
Didn’t hate it, but kind of felt dissatisfied after viewing it. I’m probably not alone in thinking this, as it grossed $23 million on a $15 million budget, compared to Talk to Me’s near $100 million gross on a $4.5 million budget.
6/10.

Not enough people got eaten. :(
But yes, overall an entertaining enough dino romp.

Yes, It starred the Paper Chase guy, Persis Khambatta, and Donald Pleasance. And yeah, I never saw Paper Chase, either.
There was also the guy who looked like Jimmy Carter. The “malaise, sucka!” joke made me laugh well, but my son is too far removed in time to appreciate a good Jimmy Carter impression.
I want to show my son the Mac and Me episode, but I can’t when my wife is home because the aliens in that film freak her out.

I enjoyed it a good bit. Fun to see Momoa in a comedy role, too.

I’ve heard a surprising amount of positive talk about this movie in real life, and yet the Cinemascore annd RT are worse than previous JW films. Is there something in the film that can explain this, like a dog dying or two middle aged women hugging too long or a goofy politician stand-in or something? Did someone say something sassy? What gets a film review bombed these days?

Straight to Prime effort. Kinda spoofing “Has Fallen” type films, starring John Cena as the US President (a former film star) and Idris Elba as the UK Prime Minister (former solider and pretty ‘ard). The always reliable Paddy Considine is our central villain,
Whilst possibly not everyone’s cup of tea, with Cena and Elba in charge it’s hard not to like this film, daft and purposefully silly as it is.
It’s perfectly suited to Streaming. Which isn’t to say it’s Straight to Video quality. Just that happy place of Streaming.
If you enjoy Cena and/or Elba? Do give this a watch.
I enjoy Cena and Elba. This was phoned in at every level. They CGd them getting into a train…
Only watch if you need the mental equivalent of gruel because you are over stimulated in the thinking department.
Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

“Hoo ha ha HEEEhaha. OooEeeeeeeeeeeee.”
We played a party game with the kids called “How long can you watch Turtle Dreams.” Turns out they could watch the whole thing because they loved it. Nonstop laughs for everyone.
Turtle Dreams is a performance art piece from the Age of Primo Drugs set to experimental “music”. It’s free on YouTube and worth checking out with a fun-loving group.

Dunno.
Gareth Edwards at least has a decent track record with Monsters(74%), Godzilla(76%) and Rogue One(84%). Throw in The Creator(68%) and I think that the 52% score might improve over time as more people see it. There are some silly moments(red shirt syndrome and "saved by the script" escapes), but if you're just there for the monster mayhem then you won't be disappointed.
