Yes, that's why there's a large variety of licensed product using the Warhammer 40K / Age of Sigmar IPs. It's as close to 'free money' as a company can get.

Yeah... GW doesn't invest anything in this. This is licensing. Funko pays them.

Some people like the style of Pops, some people don't. I avoided buying them because they never made anything that appealed to me until they this guy and this guy.

These are great for when your new girlfriend isn't disappointed enough by your real 40k miniatures, show her these as well!

Equally, if it’s one sculpt but a repaint only, Funko get to appeal to more than the fans of one Chapter, guaranteeing more “just buying one” sales, and they appeal to collectors wanting the set!

Blank or not I may pick one up for exactly this. A Sons of Malice bobble head seems hilarious to me.

So to confirm, it looks like 4 Space Marine Funkos:
-DA vet
-SW blood claw
-Primaris (likely UM)
-Assault Marine (likely BA)

Too bad Funkos are HIDEOUS, or I'd get them all.
But anything that puts 40k into the "mainstream" is good by me.

Since I also do not like Chibies, Not my thing…

I want to see the Funkodex to know how playable they are before sinking any money into them. On the upside, it will be great to have an option for a pre-painted army!

As for "proper collectible", what I mean is it has no scarcity. You're not buying something that has a high chance of holding or significantly improving its value, or trying to complete some defined "set", it's just a bit of plastic that sits on a shelf, like the bajillion other exact copies. And there's nothing wrong with being happy with a bit of plastic that just sits on a shelf...I just don't get it.

That's also how it differs from models, incidentally - they have a purpose beyond the simple owning of them. The reason some people struggle to grasp why we pay so much for them is that they don't grasp that, they can't see that we're not paying for "plastic men", but for the experience of assembling them, painting them, playing games with them. In short, they see them as being just like Funko Pops, but the issue there is their misperception.

Not a "proper collectable?" Go ahead and look for a Stan Lee POP! Or a Conan. Or any GenCon or Comic Con exclusive. Or the alternate colors. Or any limted release.

Its a company that does exactly "proper collectables."

These releases will not be, but the line as a whole definittley fits the mold.

Not understanding why people buys this figures to put them on the shelf is like not understanding why people put paintings on the walls...
Because they like how it looks, is aesthetically pleasing and the fact and feeling you own it is something you value?

Also everyone knows Mega Bloks will get the IP rights first because they're smart enough to hop on those things. Lego doesn't do anything overtly "violent" to an extent, which is why you'll never get close to realistic guns anymore.

They could've changed that stance since I was a teenager but that's basically what they operated as for me growing up.

I don't think I'm wrong if I say your average person can paint primarch well...While these comes ready without painting. Doubtful market is those who want 28mm scaled beautifully painted miniatures to buy.
