This always been the case for Spain and Italy, some editions ago they tested a full fluff book vs a skimmed version, Spanish and Italian players mass buyed the Skimmed one and GW has keep their translation versions like this reason why i always buy English books.
On an unrelated note i've been told my local GW store oppened at 10:50 to prepare the orders and they never managed to get a single one either..

The Codex contains zero pictures of Zephyrim, zero pictures of Mortifiers, just the artwork for the Triumph (which will likely end up being a miniature by way of enormous diorama just like this guy - please GW don't make that kind of miniature a trend). The Priests/Missionaries, Death Cultists and Crusaders are all the existing metal/resin minis. In fact, it doesn't even appear to include pictures of any other miniatures besides the ones they've revealed so far.
All the Seraphim pics are the limited edition box Seraphim. Ditto for the Archos. And the Repentia. The only ones that appear to be the actual kit are one of the Penitent engines on the page that shows off the Immolator and Exorcist and the page with the expanded army. There's the odd Heavy Bolter Sister which must be from the Rebributor kit (but could just as easily be part of the normal Sisters kit), but that's really all. Most of the painted Sisters minis are from this new box.
It's weird when a Codex doesn't contain pictures of the miniatures it's giving rules for, especially when those miniatures are completed and ready to go. I mean, it's so weird that someone might have brought that up as a possibility and then had to endure a bunch of people yelling at him about it.
In fact, I can almost read the posts that person made right now...

And to this I say fair enough - it's certainly extremely 99.99% likely that the full Codex will be identical to this one... and also contain zero photos of any new miniatures outside of the revealed HQ/clampack minis, the tanks, and the SoB Squad.
Really looking forward to the proper Codex release now.
Anyway... the Codex itself has some fun units. I love Mortifiers. They sound like fun. And the Zephyrim are one of those things where it's surprising they didn't already exist. I hope they look cool.

What? No! Don't be absurd! There won't be any differences between this Codex and the full-release version (aside from the cover). That's what everyone yelled at told me, so it must be true!

It was a (stupidly) limited box set - most stuff comes out in the new year
Arbitrator wrote: The thing to remember if you're disappointed you didn't get a box is that the models are more than likely going to end up as the Sister Start Collecting box later down the line. There's no way they'd produce multiple, expensive moulds worth an entire boxset and then have a limited run.
The only thing that's 'probably' truly missed is the limited edition codex and chances are there'll be another version of it, with different art maybe, as well as a collector's edition one with metal tokens too.
They did say on FB (but take that as you will) that its in this box and never again,

One minor correction to what you said - there is one picture of a Mortifier in the codex. The main artwork image for the Penitent Engine shows two other Engines in the background, and one of them is clearly firing non-flamer weapons plus has flails instead of buzzsaws attached as "hands". Also what seems to be a female pilot. That's a Mortifier.

So that snuck in. Very good. And like I said, I'm fairly certain that a couple of the actual Penitent minis in the book are the actual kit, probably because having a unit of three that are all the same might've looked a little weird.
Welp, nothing I wanted panned out. extra kick in the gut that my parent order (Argent shroud) is nearly dead on top of the rules for them specifically being iffy outside of the advance so far as i can tell.
Sacred rites... eh. i think in range to much to like the passion, and the others have niche uses. but plausible ones. guess if im picking it's either denies or the extra advance. rolling wouldn't go amiss so it's nice it's there.
no new weapons with rangebands except for the infantry exorcist weapon that i could see, just more effective heavy bolter use... but i don't see why you wouldn't take the old exorcist weapon option, especially since it's more consistent with shots now. sadly it doesn't play as well with the miracle die than i recall.
the Zephyrim im wavery on. they have all the toppings you'd want in a melee unit, but the strength concerns me. i know they can reroll but thats still a high number to hit on so many targets. wish they had other power weapon options.
Celestians are marginally better than before, but... I'm still let down by them. they seemed like a perfect option to open the melee weapon vault with, like the other original units have their own weapon specialties.
the pengines and mortifiers, aside from the survivability, may be rather impressive. definitely have on paper melee potential...
Definately happy with retributors being able to shoot and move so well, especially under Argent Shroud, and being more useful with heavy flamers. feels like i missed some point value tweaks awhile back, but i like them. Dunno if id pay for any cherub on them or any other unit though. id rather use a different model than a cherub as well to count. gotta think on what.
Missionaries can take shotguns, so Uriah's model is by extension safe, i guess. just in case it's needed.
feels like they tilted the army harder into melee, but skirted around that. anyone feeling the same?
Order Convs - can inclue Ad Min units without screwing them up
Val Heart - 6+ FNP, -1AP = 0AP stacks with Imagifers so -2 = 0.
Bloody= extra -1 with melee /Bolt pistols, +1 A when charged or charging
Ebon 5+ FNP againt MW, discard a MD - other MD is a 6
Sacred Rose: No more than 1 flee, when use MD on a 5+ get it back, Overwatch on 5+
I'm actually not sure which ones I like more here. I feel they all have uses based upon army build.

I always felt you should be able to equip them as either SM Sternguard or Vanguard. Swap boltgun for sword OR a combi. They are the elita veterans, let them be equipped how they want to fight

"Elysians: For when you absolutely, positively, must have 100% casualties"
estimates obviously, but let's be real...we know new GW prices aren't cutting anyone any deals.
That's $270 in a $210 box, and you will still want additional units so you won't feel let down with the monopose.
Plus cards - the dice seem veyr cheap.

Overall I'm pretty excited for the codex. Hopefully they won't have screwed up the points costs but I'm looking forward to trying out a lot of different builds and styles.

Well done GW. :(
Ugh scalpers No doubt some one will be daft enough to buy it.
Still, looking on the bright side(not really got much choice ) any doubters at GW should have been well and truly silenced by this mess. Hopefully any spare production capacity will go towards making sure they have plenty of stock ready for the full release next year.
Selling 2500 copies of a box is unlikely to silence any doubters given that they had stock from the last launch left about a decade later.
Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Looks to be mostly the same costs as before, though extra costs for things like the banner if you want to use more than one miracle dice. Exorcist up to 170.
When GW first announced the Sisters, I remember them saying that their Kill Team rules would be available when they launched. I'm assuming there's nothing like that in the box?
I'm hoping that the Zephyrim are a sign that we'll see more detailed lore regarding the original Sisters of Battle, back when jump packs were their traditional ancient fighting equipment and they were first discovered. I'd expect they were wielding swords before guns, so the Zephyrim style of combat might be even older than Seraphim.
H.B.M.C. wrote: I'm being told that the Canoness in this box is exclusive to this box. Can anyone else confirm that?
If you believe GW on FB, all the models are. Well, except the Canoness - people got her for free at the NOVA Open.
It does seem a bit odd that they’d individually release the one from this set (which is mono-build) in addition to the other, multi-option one we already know is coming later.

And I thought it'd be boneheaded to make mono-pose no-option kit versions of things that they're about to release multi-part kits for, and I was wrong about that. So who knows how GW thinks?

Guess it could be a pdf in two weeks time/upcoming White Dwarf, when the models are actually released. Or only when the full range launches...

Forgot the cards....so basically $285
All those units are ETB tho, with no options. So the prices you use to evaluate the value of the box is kinda flawed imo.
That's where I disagree. 10 Battle Sisters are 10 Battle Sisters. If you don't get these, you will still have to buy a box of 10 that will probably cost you $60. The ones in the box are probably closer to $35 so there is an inherent savings, even if you don't like them. I wouldn't get duplicates but I certainly see this box as an intro with savings attached.
