Yeah, that tank is pretty cool. I remain baffled where people complain that there isn't any 'value' in the upgrade to Warlord. Based on eBay prices of other KS exclusives from the first two campaigns, the 2 exclusive heroes and the Trederran pack will probably cost more than the difference on their own, and then like half a grand in other expansions get thrown in there.

Even compared to CSI's pricing, it's a pretty sweet deal at 900k, let alone 1m.

I'm already over the incessant whining about the painting stretch goal. I hope there's another big ticket reveal (1.1m or beyond) that this is just buying breathing room for in their budget. An Otherworld or something similarly hefty.

yeah, I think the 'value' is there at Warlord Level, for certain.

As for remaining big items, I think they've already ruled out the Hell Train, but they've hinted at a viking ship or something, haven't they?

Not sure how well a tank would work on the tiles, but it will make a fine GSC Leman Russ I think!

The $1M stretch goal is a tank. Vikings vs a tank might not be one of the classic fantasy matchups, but darn if I don't want to see it.

@Alpharius, I'll start a new thread for the mission I'm writing up. FFP never responded to my Kickstarter message.

Please do - it sounds great and should be a lot of fun!

As for this campaign...

$275 gets you just about everything, and then we have a total of 4 kind of 'must have' gameplay options for $90 that add in 16 doorways, some cards and 16 tiles.

I think I want it, but wish that the 'expansion' add-ons had more miniatures too.

But, I suppose all is forgiven with that $1M stretch goal!

I'm typing it up at home, so will post it hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

The gate add ons seem pretty solid to me for terrain for other games with some choice cards for this game, but I'll buy them through the pledge manager or at retail. I don't know if I need those other tile sets...

Nobody told me that there's a Trederran hero team in this one! Forget the cowboys, the samurai, and everything else, I want to play as a 3-eyed dieselpunk alien spec-ops soldier. Are there any designs for what the team members are going to look like floating around?

There was a Trederran Hero available in the previous KS. I can bring the rules for you to copy next time we meet, but the models are mine, all mine.

He can have maximum grit: infinity if you choose the Trederran Sunset upgrade...but then he sets off a grenade vest if he gets KO'ed.

I don't think the tank will be Leman Russ sized. It is described as a "scout tank". Those are pretty small for a tanks. It is meant to roll down the trenches, burning stuff up as it goes, after all.

So, I think it will be a small one. Which is nice because it needs to fit on the maps. Not so nice if you're planning to use it in 40K or something.

Since I'm getting the tank only for SoB, I'm fine for getting a smaller tank.

I expect the Trederran team to be pretty much what it is in the cover of the expansion. I do hope they get some invidualistic touches.

The description says there are 5 models, so I wonder what the fifth model is? A piece of gear (landmine or gun turret or something that a hero can drop down) or a fifth mhero figure (alt. gender perhaps?)

More info is needed. Too bad the Froggies are not talking...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
There was an answer about the fifth figure in the strike team.

The fifth Hero Miniature in the Trederran Strike Team Expansion is an Alt Gender of the Trederran Sergeant Hero (Male and Female). The Sergeant doesn't wear a helmet so you can more easily see the gender of the figure. The other 3 Trederran Heroes wear a lot of heavy gear, helmets, and armor, so the figures can easily represent either gender.

@Morgan Vening (shoutout!) had a good point about them ideally being something like 2x3 or 2x4 squares, for the logistical reason of presumably this is something that fits through the gates, and even if they don't have a standardized size in the setting, they do in the game.

It's called an XXL enemy, however, which means it's probably substantially bigger. The Raptor, Terralisk, and Guardian are all XL sized enemies. XXL is more like the Kraken, Burrower, Ancient One, and Beli'al.

Which I guess means the Trederrans believe in scouting via heavy firepower.

This campaign is running on all cylinders so far.. A TANK!?!

Hope to see an add on for Advanced level play though, like a combined team of different settings heroes working together at higher levels...

Having a Viking run around with a Six-gun, a Samurai sword, and a laser sword harkens back to Thundar The Barbarian.

Really neat to see the conquistadors in that swamp planet. I have a metric gak-ton of jungle scenery that needs to be dusted off...

Loved Thundarr as a kid - with Jack Kirby designs, who wouldn't?

But, none of the good guys used a gun - but I guess Ariel was essentially a 'magic gun'!

Anyway, some of the Otherworlds do resemble the series - let's hope that there's a Cracked in Half Moon world in there somewhere, someday!

Huh, I thought it was, but apparently that'll just be the 2 missions added to the Strike Team thing.

That's good news. I'm sincerely glad that more people will be able to get one as an add on and at retail.

It is nice to get the Tank, but I'm not sure I actually want to encounter it in the game. The few trips I've managed to make in Trederra have always ended up in disaster.

I mean, who puts a booby trap in the middle of a minefield!

Spoiler:
The answer is: Trederrans...

There has been an update going over the vikings and conquistadors in a bit more detail, showing off some of their mechanics, etc.

And we've unlocked the Trun Gladiators, as well as a social goal of post shares on Facebook, adding 6 Feathered Serpents to all Wolf, Lion, or higher pledges.

...less letters if you'd just typed " and Warlord" instead of "or higher pledges"!

It would have been more letters to say "and explorer and warlord". :-P

That was more my point, it's a stretch goal that applies to the lion, wolf, and explorer tiers, of which there are few this time around. There's no real analogue for the Outlaw and Sumo this time around, and frankly I'm not surprised, those were absurd deals. The Mine Cart/Shogun were great, of course, but $100 getting the core, an exclusive class, and like another 200+ in expansions was just ridiculous.

A bit under 3.5 days remaining, and as expected, funding has been slow but still coming in. Hopefully there's a new surprise today (social stretch goal (yes, "freebie"), or add ons, announcement of a 1.2m goal that knocks peoples socks off, something like that) to kick things up a bit. Crossing the 1 million mark before the 48 hour reminders go out would be great, but at the same time, I'm happy with where things have gotten. If we just saw steady growth and unlocked the Tank and extra Hero class at 1.1m (or, say, get to $1,113,204+, and another 200+ backers, so this campaign pulls in more funding and backers than KS2 in half the time), that'd be pretty great.

I was only joking!

I'm a bit surprised that the pace here has slowed as much as it has, especially after the $1M tank reveal.

I still think we'll get there - but I thought we'd get there with a lot of room to spare!

Here is the thread I promised for house rules discussion. I should never promise to post things on a specific day because that's just tempting real life to get all jerkfacey.

Sweet - Thanks!

And that new add-on gets us up over the rather painful $400 mark for game content too. :(

I knew $275 was too good to be true!

Wait for retail for the boats? The difference in price isn't much, and the Warlord pledge has months worth of content already.

Not a bad idea, but sometimes retail lags way behind even their oft delayed KS deliveries, I think?

Yeah there is some drag. The Ancient One from the first KS has not been released to retail yet.

That's true. On the other hand, $55 is a lot of money for an add on 2 years in advance.

I feel like there's an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other!

Only about $4,500 before that tank becomes reality (well, in a couple of years!) too...
