I think you underestimate spending ability.

Plus, Slaanesh had some stuff updated in Wrath & Rapture. Those mad keen on Slaaneshi Daemons have been able to get their mitts on really quite nice Fiends for a few weeks now.

Keeper of Secrets? That’s gonna sell regardless. Anything else is likely to be AoS Mortals Of Slaanesh. Maybe some form of Slaaneshi Beastmen too.

Slaanesh has been a LONG time waiting - heck all four of the other Chaos Gods in AoS have had big releases and new Greater demons (yes all four - Skaven formally count now with their Veminlords in AoS).

I just really hope that along with a Greater Demon we get some new demonic units for Slannesh! Since we can't hope for new deamonettes and their ilk we can at least hope for some new models for the range (which hasn't had anything actually new in a very very very long time save for one hero playing a blood harp

I underestimate spending ability in one of the most expensive hobbies available?

It's not like the CSM release was small and it's not like the subset of CSM players that play EC/Slaanesh didn't buy those new kits.

A Slaneeshi daemon engine would be awesome, but since this an AOS release that's a near impossibility. Looking forward to seeing the KOS and happy Slaneeshi players are getting a long deserved update.

How many years have Slaanesh
followers been waiting for their new Greater Deamon?

I for one, will buy everything from this release.

"One of the most expensive hobbies available?"

Now that's a cute thought. But looking forward to seeing the KOS finally.

Excited for Slaanesh; in this racket any news is good news. Hopefully some of them will translate to 40k, and the eventual release of even more content for AoS and 40k.

Again, this is a Sigmar release slot. None of the people who are playing Chaos in that game got... anything out of the CSM release. Furthermore, this release will almost certainly have Sigmar-exclusive mortal units, like the Arcanites for Tzeentch and the Rotbringers for Nurgle so those won't transfer over to 40k CSM players anyways.

Yeah, 40k players are lucky in that when AoS gets releases it tends be daemon and therefore useable.
But a 40k release is just that.

Every point someone makes Englishman you are replying about CSM straight away to be fair, and till we know more about the Slaanesh release, it is Just for AoS.
(I do think in time we’d perhaos see the EC soon following, but maybe not.
Could just be a KoS and then mortal stuff.but again that would be useable models though not a 40k ‘release’ in any way)

Good for AoS players, and good for Slaanesh fans. Never understood the frustration of players of various races/armies whinging all the time. Particularly Ork players. And I say this as a predominantly Eldar player (not silly Harlequins or stupid Dark Eldar...). If anyone "should" be sour over their model line...it's the Eldar.

This makes sense as well, if Slaanesh gets all of their daemons sorted out - then in 12-18 months or whenever an actual Emperor's Children army comes to fruition some of its groundwork will have already been laid - making that launch easier.

I'm more concerned with how it's going to look. Lithe and feminine, or more weirdly daemonic, or bull-headed (literally). The KoS is the one GD that hasn't had a consistent look over the years.

Looks like we may be finding out a bit more about Slaanesh release tomorrow. I'm excited for all the Dark Prince players out there. It certainly has been a while. I'm not a Slaanesh guy myself, but am very interested to see if he gets any mortal followers and what they look like. Secretly hoping for Cenobite/ Demon Bikers from Mandy vibe, and not just "perfect beauty" stuff.

I'm hoping we see some more about Warcry tomorrow, that game has me pumped.

I cannot agree more.

I for one, hope they came back to the RoC original design, the feminine look being for the lesser deamon in my opinion.
Excited anyway, all GD models have been great (litterally) so I am looking forward a cow headed KoS with a lot,
lot of jewels like they did with the fiends recently.

It's a little easier to make customisable parts for a more-or-less humanoid form than for Blobby McBlobface, so I would expect something more akin to the Bloodthirster.

It would be interesting if they expanded beyond sex and into other indulgences\obsessions. Maybe some big fat models with a food\drink theme? Maybe some models with a wealth theme that have extremely ornate, gilded and bejeweled armor? (I'm not saying to get rid of sex and pain, just to have other themes going on too.)

I was hoping for more of a 'music' and 'art' thing with a bit of Cenobite.

There were a few more difference than just the weapon. The model has three builds including a special character.

You and me both. If wasn't for the fact all the new CSM were so pricey, I would have tried to revamp my whole army. My old CSM are going to see some table time for bit more. I might actually go back to playing a little non-Kill Team 40k for a bit because of everything.

For anyone else that wants the new stuff, I hope it is nice. I am just full up at the moment and don't want the painting cue to get too full.

Adeptus Doritos wrote:I'm more curious about the Warcry stuff, because I want a Chaos Warband now.

I normally have near no interest in Age of Sigmar or fantasy in general anymore (way too much D&D when I was younger), but boy howdy, those Chaos models look really nice. A not completely pants on head price and group of players at my FLGS could very well convince me to buy it I think.

Several of the fiction pieces leading up to Malign Portents had Sigmarines wiping out whole villages. Several were web pieces when they released the 4 champion models (darkoath/gobbo/?? and whoever)

Given how closely tied Slannesh is to the history of the Aelves and there gods in AoS I hope more comes out of this plotline than "just" a new Chaos battletome.
Slaanesh was never "closely tied" to Elves prior to AoS, so I find it interest that they are going that direction now. Especially with how intrinsic She Who Thrists is to Aeldari in 40K. GW seem to pick and choose when they want their 2 worlds to have parallels or not.

I take you never seen any hobby tied to automobiles. Or hell, high end PC gaming or whatever fad audio-idio-philes are chasing now.

In fact, unless you play something inane like full Krieg conscript army, I'd say with a bit of foresight and saving up for boxed sets of minis and paints, wargaming is really not that expensive, especially all smaller and skirmish variants...

Really?

Do a lot of CSM players also take Daemons? Yes. Yes they do.

Have a lot of those players just spaffed all their money on the ton of new models, Vigilus Ablaze and the new codex? Yes. Yes they have.

A large subsection of the market they are aiming this release at are already saturated with previous releases.

Therefore - less sales.

If Chaos players blew their entire wad on the models without waiting for this month and section/category of releases to be over with. That's their fault. Not good planning considering on how much love Chaos has been getting because of Vigilus. Literally have 2 whole sections of Chaos to release still. Khorne was obviously going to be the last so it doesnt drown out the rest because of its popularity

Yeah, the only reason 40k has this reputation as The Mostest Expensiver Hobby OMG is because people often compare it to adolescent hobbies that are either very cheap in individual installments but extremely expensive overall (Magic cards, comic books, etc) or where someone's parents very often pays the actually expensive part of the hobby (video games probably being the most common.)

If you are approaching hobbies as an adult, who has to buy their own PC, or mountain bike, or sports equipment, the buy in to 40k is a lot more comparable, and less expensive in a lot of cases.

at this point 40k is my only hobby that actively pays for itself. this'll be my second year spending only what I make through commission painting and reselling old miniatures.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I would say it's expensive... in terms of table top type of hobbies. All of the updates in terms of rules, models, books, paints, terrain. Not to mention the capital to have to dedicate a space for it, because most armies take up quite a bit of room, once you get into more than 1.

As far as the “different bloodthirsters” thing goes, they’re pretty straight with us that Khorne has a military view, and there are 8 tiers of BTs. Each one has a name and a specific build. We get access to three tiers (8, 6, 3) in the forms of Unfettered, Insensate, and Wrath. The other gods aren’t as military focused, so we probably won’t see the same name options, but will still see multiple weapon options. This is one of those things that sets Khorne armies apart from the others.

On topic...HOLY gak, I GET MY SLAANESH TEASER!! WOOHOO!!!!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
