Maybe but since the Raumjaegers have been sold out for a long time I doubt that’s the reason ☹️

Raumjagers were sold out in the US warehouse. We had difficulties getting a quick restock due to COVID, so had to have it shipped in with the WW1 Germans.

We have not abandoned the raumjager. They will be getting a heavy weapons box

Could just be which kit sold better.

It doesn't necessarily have to be one or the other. I'm thinking that some of those heavy weapons could be generic enough to use for either Grognards or Raumjaegers. A power fist doesn't have much "ethnic style" to it. What if they developed the heavy weapons, and the arms are the only things different? Could save some time and resources using generic weapons for differing humans.

On a side note, as soon as those heavy weapons and the not-Squats come out I'll be buying about a dozen boxes of various product.

We appreciate your support.

Part of the reason we want to differentiate the heavy weapons is to give more options, rather than trying to pack everything on one frame and having to leave something out

I don't mind, I just found it odd. I infinitely prefer no bases at all to those integrated kidney bases that companies similar to WA usually do.

Just note that historical and fantasy kits come with oval discs attached to the feet (as it is usual with most historical stuff).
Sci-fi kits are completely baseless as "normal" with GW's and similar kits.

Ah, thanks. I recently got the Raumjaegers. I have the skeletons in the cellar but I could't recall if they had bases.

Have to say I really appreciate this company. Not everything is to my tastes but it's wonderful that somebody outside GW can just rapid-fire a crazy assortment HIPS releases like this. Makes you wonder why other indy companies struggle with it

Many smaller companies invest in a mix of materials like metal, resin and HIPS.
Resin and metal are usually cheaper to start producing, especially resin. The issue with resin is that there is a higher chance of defects in the pieces and the individual cost per miniature is higher.
HIPS on the other hand is costly to start with, but once you pay for the molds and machinery, the running costs are very low. You only have to make new molds every once in a while, something which is much more frequent with resin.
This means that if they sell well enough to repay one kit, they can focus the earnings on additional ones quite fast.
Working with freelancers also typically adds the fact that you have people who might already have ideas of things to do, rather than you requesting them a very specific thing you want done.
As a creative writer I must say inspiration helps a lot.
To keep people interested in the company in the long term, you need to keep releasing stuff and that is why many smaller companies keep having low margins over the years, as there is stagnation and sales drop, but to increase them you need to invest on new kits and that is not always viable anymore.

Companies also have trouble if there's no game to peg things to. Both Wargames Factory and Dreamforge had plastic kits but a lot of customers had no obvious use for them.

I really wish they (and a few other companies) had just made a deal with one of the free rules writers (like One Page) to use their engine for a low effort, preliminary and temporary fix to the lack of official game. Take a system everyone can kind of get intuitively, post some “these minis use these stats” updates with new product, and have Joe the Intern write up some scenario and flavor text twice a month.

Something like:
Uh oh! Somebody’s been abducting Space Nazis! In this scenario, the Dreamforge Eisenkern (stats here) must fight against the WGF Shock Troops (stats here) for control of the Fargate. They’ll need to control either the Phone Home Device or the Security Override Console to make it work (using scenario 43 in the Free Game rulebook here). Who will make it back to Space Earth and who will nazi their homeworld again?

Okay but so far there's just 2 "factions" each with a basic infantry kit for sci-fi. And Fantasy and historicals probably don't need rules.

I absolutely agree with BobtheInquisitor.

There's so many free and relatively inexpensive rulesets out there. Why not partner up and have everyone get some extra exposure?

Heck, One Page Rules often stats up other models of the sculptors that do bonus content for their Patreon as it is already.

Ganehsa Games has all sorts of rulesets that can be licensed and adapted to suit your game, like what Antimatter does.

I always thought part of the problem on those other plastic kits was they just didn't mesh with everything else on the tabletop. Their scale and proportions stood out to all the 40k stuff.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I am going to use the Halflings for Kings of War, the Spiders in Star Saga and Deadzone and with Les Grognards I plan to use them for a larger army, just need to decide on which tanks I gonna use

while having a supported rule set would be nice, I see it more like with historical wargames were rules and models are independent from each other (and this is a good thing)

Halflings and spiders-as-rat-ogres for everything from SBH skirmish to Dragon Rampant to KoW or Mayhem mass battles.

Ditto. I agree that the WA range so far is a bit scattergun, but I think the hand-holding nature of most genre gaming has more to do with it if gamers struggle to find uses for them.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

I am thinking of using some of the WW1 Germans to do a version of House Atreides Guard like from the Lynch movie, in their green and gold uniforms. Use them for whatever skirmish game they'd be good for, likely Kill Team Imperial Guard I'd say.

There is so many rule sets available out there, I don't really need another. After a time, you're just adding to the pile.

Personally, I would have preferred the WW1 Germans with longcoats. Would have made for excellent Death Korps of Krieg proxies - because let's be honest, 90% + of all sold Raumjager, Grognard and WW1 sets are going to pull duty as Imperial Guard.

well of those that are actually used you might well be right ...…. but I suspect the majority will actually end up in gamers stashes to be dealt with 'soon'

Edit: and I hope to get delivery of my stash filling afghans, germans and raumjager soon

From the conversions I have seen, if you mix grognards with the ww1 germans you get some nice DKoK proxies.

What's wrong with summer dress Kriegers? Greatcoats are extra weight and more importantly heat.

A closer look at some of the Einherjar with squad support weapons: flame thrower, grenade launcher, and plasma gun. These figures have been outfitted with the variant helmet type (there are enough in the box to outfit all of them with this helmet) and an NCO's cap. Flame troopers usually shave their beards (for obvious reasons) but this veteran will have none of that. More tomorrow!

Does anyone need a reason?

I'm not a wide and varied player of games but the Raumjager have the appearance of alternate history through modern to far future sci fi infantry.

To that end, they could likely fit in to Konflikt 47 up to 40K.

This makes them more adaptable than the Les Grognards and upcoming Space Brits which do seem to scratching the itch of 40K players who want an affordable IG army that doesn't look like Cadians.

The price point is nice as well. £70 for 72 figures if the three box option is selected.

I'd think Raumjager would make good Elysians. German Elysians. Just need jet packs for some of them.

Today's Einherjar preview featuring two stout fellows with the standard rifle (a squat bullpup design) and the old (VERY OLD!) veteran who continues to stick with the tried and true weaponry of his youth 1500 years ago.

We will cheekily note that you can turn a good portion of the box into more fantasy-flavored dwarves if you so choose.

also worth noting the fur collars are a separate piece from a comment on facebook

Continuing this week's previews of the Einherjar. Here we have an alternative color scheme without the fur collar for our scout (who previously appeared as Stabby McBackstabby), a young, beardless communications specialist, and a veteran trooper wielding a shotgun and with the face-shield helmet. All painting and photo by Matthew Leahy.
