That's going to be a lot of fun to play around with, both in games and in terms of modeling!

I also agree we'll need some fromage plates!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Don't forget the foie gras. However, onions will do. Chanson de l'oignon

I'll have to see the price and the mix of the extra bits before committing, as I don 't need heavy weapons. Am glad to see the Grognards being expanded.

WA about to drop big news. A new set that is part of a new licensed line. Maybe someone more nutty about guns than I am can tell what from the teaser picture?

What would be a licensed property of not-Marines?

Just looking at the teaser of the firearm and the legplates there, it looks "Aliens" related?

Feet and weapons match Dreamforge's Eisenkern. Likely they picked up the models from them.

I agree on the legplates - the rifle looks off to me though, the housing on the Aliens rifle has vertical vents on the top. Also that should pad looks a bit strange. I'm not really sure what Sci-Fi license this could be though, as I thought most of the big ones have miniatures already. Maybe The Expanse or a novel series?

Yeah I think I am pretty much 100% confident about this. Look at where the little lip is at the bottom of the greave is just above the foot, as well as where the two top most rivets are on the gun, just below the top barrels cooling sleeve and the grenade launcher below.

Nice score, Wargames Atlantic! And I am glad as well, as I need some of those Stormtroopers for Kill Team. Excellent save

That was my first thought when I saw the gun. But the feet? They don’t look quite right, but I’m not exactly a Tarantino when it comes to feet.

If they got the Dreamforge stormtroopers, would they be willing to toss in a spare head sprue? The number one complaint about the Eisenkern was that they only came with the German helmet heads, and a lot of people didn’t want any more Space Germans.

Also, the Eisenkern will tower over the Grognards and Raumsjagers.

Huh, Eisenkern was my first thought as well, but dismissed it as it belongs / belonged(?) to someone else.

IIRC Dreamforge's manufacturer owns the molds and toolings but he owns the designs.

So it is POSSIBLE that WGA has made new molds, or maybe got them from the supplier, who, obviously has no use for them.

(Looks at pile of unpainted Dreamforge stuff in corner saved for ebay)

Well there goes the kids' college fund.

I'm not an expert nor an insider but I don't think that's that situation.

From what I remember hearing from Mark, Dreamforge got an incredible bargain, the company did the molds for free (an investment of 100s of thousands of dollars at least) in exchange for showing what they could do. Which led to them doing models for Malifaux and other games. They'd happily make them again if Dreamforge placed a minimum order, but sales did not justify them.

Maybe with more promotion or a game DF could have had that kind of sales but since they didn't Mark had to let plastics go.

But all of this is IIRC and Mark may post here, he has in the past.

The obvious question presents itself... if Eisenkern aren't worth selling, why is WA picking them up?

In a van down by the river

I believe KidKyoto has the right of it; Mark's tools were cut on credit so WGF still has legitimate ownership of them and they would be happy to fill a container full of kits (and nothing less than a container). The SWM issue is more the one where there's a vociferous disagreement about ownership.

The double issue with WGF for Mark was that WGF also stopped doing distribution when they sold most of their other lines off to Warlord and others. Even if he could get the money for a minimum order, he has no warehouse in which to store those things nor the shipping contracts to make the rates all that viable for direct sales. So a lack of funds to fill an entire container, a lack of storage for a full container and difficulty getting product out of his garage and over to a distributor or retailer. Not a good scenario.

Presuming that WGA is picking up the designs (which still falls under the "hopeful speculation" header and not as a confirmed thing), they would have the things that Mark currently lacks. There was nothing particularly wrong with the Iron Core design motifs and properly expanded they would have likely done well, but when they failed to get a game going they were just nice kits. Heck, even WGA just bringing him on board as a designer would be a big deal; his Leviathans are still amazing kits from an engineering perspective.

They sold out, I think Marks issue was he was paying for the warehouse, distribution and everything out of his pocket. The initial sales were great from the kickstarter, but afterwards he didn't have the kits he needed to sell for a whole army an couldn't justify buying more. It was a bad catch 22.

Now he did have the other Eisenkern models that he did in metals long ago but didn't switch over to plastic. very similar style wise, so he could always release those in hopes of getting the money to buy the molds back. Or if he didn't give the rights to WGF, then he should be free to release the models again, just using new molds cut by WA.

I cannot confirm or deny anything. especially not if certain miniatures in the pipeline have been retooled.

I can confirm that the grognards re-supply is coming with a new headsprue, as that has been said officially.

I really hope these are Eisenkern. This has been doing the rounds on the Dreamforge facebook group all day.

I'm a huge Dreamforge Games Fanatic. I have some of their harder to find pieces, like the Gabriel Knight that was in resin (armorcast reaver titan sized) and the resin 15mm leviathan (40k knight sized).

Mark's designs were all computer files. So, if they did recut some molds they could very well have easily rescaled and simplified them to be in scale with the rest of the Death Fields line. If this is the case, they basically have an entire faction covered for models.

Being hopeful here, but there were a lot of Dreamforge designs that I'd like to see reemerge. Like the Black Widow Walking tank, if Death Fields ever becomes a game of that scale. I have been saying for years that a number of smaller manufacturers with visually similar styles should just pool their lines together for a common game.

About a year ago or so Mark teased work he was doing on new Shadowkesh minis he was working on. He had a basic CAD file of one, but then everything went quiet. I'd love to see those return too.

If WGA is going to include some new head styles, it would be really cool to get different styles of Sci-Fi helmets, including a more retro kind like the below if possible.

I am feeling a bit over German designed helmets for Sci-Fi troops, heh.

I just looked it up, the Shadowkesh preview was August 28, 2018. Since then Mark did the Grav Stug kickstarter that fizzled out, and then not a lot. I thought he just went back to his 9-5 job and didn't think much of it. Interesting indeed. Waiting on this preview from WGA is so nerve wracking.

Yeah, if it's Eisenkern, and they've been rescaled to 28mm, that would be pretty damn cool.
