Honestly puddle bases makes it really simple to paint individually for multibasing. I've neverminded it.

Puddle bases are there for some of the same reasons as tactical rocks - for stability so as to ensure that you can glue the mini down to a base, etc. without frustration, and once it is glued it stays as such. As far as wargaming miniatures are concerned they are a holdover from the era of metal miniatures and probably don't serve as much of a purpose anymore with plastic miniatures aside from ensuring you don't obscure a minis ankles with too large of a glob of glue. HOWEVER, because historic minis are frequently mixed and matched between manufacturers, the vast majority of which are metal with built in puddles, the bases serve the important function of ensuring that the mini stands at a comparable height to those of other manufacturers in order to ensure uniformity, otherwise the 2-3mm height differential becomes very apparent.

Its also important to note that puddle bases are also commonplace in historical miniatures to enable the kits to be functional outside of wargaming usage, mainly for museum, fine scale model, and diorama purposes, where the minis will not be glued down to a square/circular base that they occupy but instead will be integrated into a scenic layout - the puddle ensures the mini can be glued down to a substrate after painting it without risking damage to the paint scheme itself (otherwise frosting from superglue might harm the legs of the mini) and the puddle is easy to cover up with sand/texture paint/basing materials/flock, etc. after doing so.

Fair arguments, but I still abhor them.

I mind them less on plastic miniatures. I spent 15 minutes the other night freeing a Reaper not-mindflayer so I could put it on one of my custom cobblestone bases.

(yes, I know that borders on OCD, but it looks so much better)

Puddle bases are absolutely OK, I just wish more manufacturers would design them cleverly. You can make them so flat and sloped at the edges, that they are virtually invisible once the basing material is in place.
For some strange reason, many manufacturers like to put gigantic bricks under the miniatures.
Because of that I cut down the edges on most miniatures with a sharp knife.

The reason would be physics, and specifically thickness for proper casting thousands of times in a row.

I am not an expert. That's just what I've read about it

Same here. Historicals I could stomach for the reasons mentioned but fantasy minis should be free of integral bases.

Scanning through the Release Schedule page, as you do when you're after an update for the Death Fields Accessory set, I noticed the following little snippets.

WW1 French Hotchkiss Team Sculpting
WW1 German Maxim Team Sculpting
Alternate Scale Test Sculpting
First Moderns Set Final Parts Check

Good news for all the Great War fans out there.

Alternate Scale Test? Taking on Warlord Games and their new box sets? Pure conjecture on my part.

Any hints for the first Modern set?

I'm still on tenterhooks for the Gurkha sets that had some initial designs previewed some time ago now.

I thought they had a poll on facebook about interest in smaller scales similar to Warlords Epic scale strips. But now I can't find it, so I may have imaged it.

I wonder if the upcoming tank will be Death Fields-compatible.
I'd like a Not-Leman Russ for my Grognard Not-Imperial Guard

I believe that it is going to be a tankette, not a tank, so not nearly big enough to stand-in for a LR. It might be a viable grot tank at most.

I can hardly wait! But what the heck is up with the farm animals set, Warlord makes that exact thing.

My buddy got the warlord farm animals set. All the animals were damaged. He described the material as very brittle. He is the master of saving miniatures from the trash and frugal to boot. But even he chucked them. Could have been a bad batch but who knows.

I was talking to a guy who used to cast metal minis, and he was telling me the farm animal sets sold ridiculously more than everything else in the range, to the point that the animals paid for everything else to get made.

No idea who's buying them.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Does Warlord produce an optional sci fi upgrade sprue to allow your Space Chickens to fight Space French or Techno Spiders?

Please Wargames Atlantic, make this happen!

I guess a lot of potential American buyers are now not going to be getting the Warlord stuff because of shipping costs ? so having a USA made alternative might see a decent level of sales (or maybe they're not 28mm?)

All kind of historical landscapes for museums, christmas stuff, etc...

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

"We will continue to do Outsource work for companies needing hard plastic sets with our partner Altera. RGD Gaming, Firelock, and some others we’re working on are just the beginning. And the best part is that we can now offer US-based production!"

Firelock? So does this mean that WA are the ones who are doing the sloops and pirate minis from Firelock's last kickstarter?

I cant read the writing on the sprue, but kind of looks like it?

I can read the sailor sprue, but it says Firelock.
