The book will go on preorder this Friday, will be available at UKGE, and will be available for general sale June 14th.

Includes:
DZC 2.0 rules
New units for DZC
DFC Dreadnoughts, Destroyers, and Monitors
The new Resistance fleets

In addition the new DZC command cards go on preorder this Friday, and their own in-house online army building software will be live in a few weeks.

In addition it sounds like they’re looking at doing unit bundles rather than having hundreds of blisters, and are in the process of redesigning the two player starter.

I'm really hoping this gives the game a big boost and gets them back on track - esp since Firestorm and all the Spartan games died a total death (and are likely at least a year or two off Firestorm coming back and longer for Planetfall).

Ouch the resistance starter fleet is not cheap. I've got a big Dropzone and fleet collection but it's been too long and this doesn't pull me back in. Shame.

Okay, the start of the Resistance Fleet is here too! The Resistance Starter Fleet will be on pre-order this Friday too. The box contains enough parts to make 3 Cruisers and 4 Frigates in an astounding amount of variations. Again, we’ll go into how to build Resistance ships in the next couple of weeks. Basically: there are a lot of ways.

You can build a Vega Scrapfleet or a Kalium Kabal Fleet out of the same box! Or any other disparate group of Resistance fighters too.

This box also comes with full rules for building Cruisers and Frigates, so if you want to get started straight away, or have quick reference for your games, it’s a good choice!

We’ve got a couple more things coming on Friday too – stay tuned to TTCommunity for that information!

Their plastic are fantastic, never played the game but got their UCM and space station sets and loved them.

I can't find if the Resistance is plastic or resin, which probably means resin.

This box contains the perfect beginnings of a Resistance Fleet. With three Resistance Cruisers and 4 Resistance Frigates, your fleet can be built as the strict Kalium Kabal, the junkers of Vega Scrapfleet, or any group of Resistance in between!

The ships in this set can be constructed in millions of ways, with each one different if you wish, all the better to show the various different types of Admiral that make up the eclectic Resistance Fleet. With dozens of weapon and equipment options, the Resistance Fleet is perfect for a Commander looking for complete versatility in their Dropfleet Commander games.

4x Resistance Frigates: These multi-part hard plastic miniatures can be assembled as Light or Heavy Frigates, or as Strike Carriers. Each can be
made in millions of different ways. Typical length 94mm. 36 Parts for all four Frigates.

3x Resistance Cruisers: These multi-part hard plastic miniatures can be assembled in over a billion combinations! Modular weapons can be added to
broadsides or hulls, making Light, Medium, or Heavy Cruisers. Typical length 105mm. 40 Parts per Cruiser.

Resistance Fastplay Cards: Designed to get you playing straight away, these cards contain full rules for Resistance Cruisers & Frigates. Included are stats for the ships, special rules, and tables for arming each ship, making modular fleet building easy!

The new book is 2.0, with some additional rules for DFC.

Not sure why they’d need to do a KS for it?

What conversion rate do they use for real currencies?

Are they planning to run another set of the plastic DZC starters or the DFC starters?

Far as I know all their starters are in plastic now.

It is very good plastic too - very high and fine detailing!

I've always been really interested in DFC, but when I heard it was frequently taking lots of people 2.5-3.5 hours to play a game I lost interest. My schedule is just too packed for a single game taking that much time. It's a shame because the models are really top notch and I'm having a hard-time finding a space warfare game that can be played on something other than a banquet table and taking 3 years to play.

And I know X-wing exists, but I'm looking for larger engagements than fighter squadrons.

Hopefully they'll release some straight space battle rules that don't involve all the dropship froufrou.

Hopefully they've adjusted the dropship games as well - I recall reading that armies like shaltari simply loaded up with loads of dropships to just spam rather than engaging in a heavy space fight.

So you want larger engagements then xwing but complain about a rather reasonable game length time. Unreasonable expectations much?

Honestly I think the only way to get large engagements and short game time is a PC game like Homeworld 2. Not being cheeky but large number of models even with simpler game systems are going to take a couple of hours to play out - at least with a computer game you can pause and save and resume later.

Or you could go for one of the 4* style games like Stellaris (I'd also say Endless Space 2 but it doesn't have huge fleets)

So you are telling me that playing a game with 10-15ish ships of various classes (Battleships down to frigates) in 90 minutes on a 4x4 table is unreasonable? Seems lots of games played successfully at this scale before......Mordheim, Necromunda, Warmachine (at least initially)…..the list goes on and on.

I'm not asking for a game that takes 34 rolls to resolve one hit on a ship.

Most shooting in DFC is two rolls: Roll to hit, Roll to save. It's possible to get up to 5 in some circumstances (if you're firing a close action weapon and therefore they get point defense, if you cripple their ship, and if you destroy it).

I guess you could end up with 34 rolls if your ships were tightly packed together and one of them was destroyed with the worst result on the catastrophic table which led to a daisy chain of exploding ships, but at that point the game is probably over or close to it.

Most of the complaint for time is the ground combat section, and there's been talk of ways to streamline that.

34 rolls was an exaggeration, I haven't played DFC before, I'm just referring to Naval games in general often taking absurdly long to resolve a single attack. I played a few games of Firestorm Armada and it was horridly slow to get anything done.....not my idea of fun.

I would certainly be interested in a reduced timeframe for DFC, either by modifying the ground aspect or just by putting out an alternate way to play that is just space battles. If I could play a game that was 2.5 hours including set up and clean up I would probably get to play it fairly often. A lot of games I have played in the past with terrain set up, special rules, deployment, mission determation, the game, and clean up would take over 4 hours, often well over that. That's not something I can manage on a workday, and I can't devote my free days exclusively to gaming.

Being able to get a game finished in a more reasonable time means I actually get to play it.

Most of the games you are quoting only have 1HP models, which at most might be Down, instead of Out of Action, so they could stand up later. Most Fleet-scale games are going to involve To-Hit rolls, Armor save rolls, and with certain successful hits, critical location rolls. Battlefleet Gothic also had Command Rolls like Reload Torpedoes and the like.

Battlefleet Gothic took a 4x6 table to play a reasonable sized game, and even Star Wars Armada uses a larger table than 4x4. Both games take much more than an hour to resolve around 6 turns of gameplay.

I dont know of any Capitol Ship games that are also fleet-scale like you are looking for than can be played in 90 mins. Even Galleys and Galleons, which plays like a capitol Ship game (even though it is wooden sailing ships) has to only have 6 or less ships on a side to play in 90mins or less, and thats quite a rules-light game.

Well yes, the two GW ones, but Warmachine had models with over 30 hit points in standard use (at least before it became Infantry Machine). You just need to have a system where models do more than 1 HP worth of damage in a single hit. Assign certain areas of their hit point blocks to certain features (much like Warmachine). There might not be a game out there currently like what I described (which is why I don't play any fleet based games), but it certainly can be designed. I mean there are Warhammer Fantasy sized games out there that you can play in less than 90 minutes currently, so why not a fleet based game? A lot of game design is too stuck to "doing things as they always have been done."

Battlefleet Gothic is probably the most well known fleet based game, and it could take quite a long time to play a game. It's also pretty dated in game design. Star Wars Armada uses a 3x6 if I remember correctly. I tried to give that a shot but the game play was pretty clunky and I quickly lost interest. It also didn't help that early in the game pretty much ever Imperial ship was just a variant of a Star Destroyer.

Unfortunately I don't either, but I do have hope that one will make it to market eventually. Cruel Seas is not quite what I'm looking for, but apparently that can be played in 45 minutes. To be fair I'd be okay with a fleet based game that could be wrapped up in 2.5 hours max (including set-up, mission selection, and clean up). I want games that I can actually play on a work day, because I will get to play them regularly. If I can only play a game once a month, it's probably not worth the investment unless I really love the hobby aspect of it. And as far as 4x6 tables go? If I can't play it on a normal sized table and have to go to a hobby store to play it, it's not happening unless that game is the best thing since electricity.

Anyways I should probably wrap this discussion up, because it's not really on topic and just cluttering up the thread for people who want to read about DZC and DFC.

The scale's off - 6mm vs 10mm.

But since there aren't currently any man-sized figures in Titanicus, it's not likely that this will be an issue. I think others here have mentioned using the buildings, and doing fine with them.

I've played both DZC and DFC on and off in the past. Loved both but could never get a group going. People in my area are death afraid of painting anything under 28mm despite all my efforts to show it's easier

My one complaint was that drop fleet definitely emphasized landing actions over all else. You could completely table an opponent while losing little in your own fleet and be handed a crushing defeat which felt counterintuitive. I get that ships cant hold ground but simultaneously youve completely cut off your opponents escape and isolated his forces. You'd think that counts for something. If they add a mode that allows you to battle it out in set engagements over territory or something like space stations I feel that would help add variety. The game plays beautifully and really gives a great feeling when you plan ahead correctly and have your ships right where you need them.

Plus I always loved the lore of the DZ universe. The return to Earth has been hyped for a long time now with a lot of foreshadowing so this battle will be one for the history books
