So this is a very simple and straight forward thread. So simple and straight forward? I call upon our collective better natures.
See, if you’re reading this, you’re at least a Geek, or, like me, a dyed in the wool Nerd.
And whilst we might disagree on certain points in our wide and wonderful realm? We deserve each other’s support and encouragement.
Because our differences are stupidly minor. That’s why things get overly heated.
So let us put aside such slight differences, respect each other’s preferences and that, and have a Nerd Hug Sesh (metaphorical, but if you want a proper one, I have wide and welcoming arms).
Because we need to stand together. I suspect you’ve been hassled in life over your preferences. So why hassle each other?
We are One. And our differences of opinion are to be celebrated.
So here’s to you. And here’s to them. And self indulgently, here’s to me. We share a Hobby, not a life. We’re all teeny tiny aspects of that broadstroke, and long may this fantastic status quo stand
Fed up of Scalpers? But still want your Exclusives? Why not join us?

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like soup. Now you put soup in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put soup into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now soup can flow or it can crash. Be soup, my friend.

Being a geek is passion. Being a nerd is knowledge.
Minor differences become important because of passion and the depth of knowledge. When you care about something, you can disagree civilly with someone who has a difference of opinion, but bold untrue assertions from people who know less than you (in your opinion) will rub you the wrong way entirely (faction X should change in this way, faction Y are the real bad guys)
It will frustrate a passionate person when someone doesn't 'get' the elements of the hobby they enjoy (painting, lore, whatever) and tries to dismiss those elements as unimportant. Its very frustrating when someone who is clearly more passionate about something else tries to inject that into the hobby (hello kitty/sportsteam themed armies, lore from somewhere else that doesn't gel, identity politics)
It will frustrate someone who is knowledgeable and has invested energy in knowing the game, the lore, whatever, when someone dismisses that level of engagement as unimportant. 'lol, its just a game' is the response that makes an invested person see red.
So let us put aside such slight differences, respect each other’s preferences and that, and have a Nerd Hug Sesh (metaphorical, but if you want a proper one, I have wide and welcoming arms).

I don't think anyone should 'hassle each other' and people are entitled to like whatever. I do think rigorous investigation of ideas is good- and a forum like dakka allows passionate people to share and discuss their ideas. There'll naturally be some disgreement.
We are One. And our differences of opinion are to be celebrated.
I hope one day to meet you all with firm handshake and a friendly smile. I don't talk much on here but have been here for a while.
I will always try to keep a measured head online and in person.
