Looks like it may be worth a punt. I was shockingly underwhelmed by the recent 40K RPG by the same company (or was it just handed off to them after the fact?)
How does this rank as far as fluff/story/lore goes?

These look like the old FFG rulebooks...different rule set and EXCELLENT fluff and story material. Totally worth the $18...except that I already own all the physical books...

In my opinion it's not as good as the Rogue Trader setting, but the fluff in this stuff is still great.
This is worth is just for the complete Dark Heresy 2.0 collection, but this is all in all a great deal, be it for fluff or to game around with.
Pity it isn't Rogue Trader, but maybe next time..?

The sectors the two versions are set in are wonderful settings, fully fleshed out and a delight to read. Great sources of inspiration or tools for world building of your own.

As far as lore/fluff for inquisition or day to day lives of many people in the Imperium it is great. If I remember right Alan Bligh helped write it and I can't think of a project of he worked on that I haven't liked.

I'll definitely be picking up. I personally think it's worth it for Creatures Anathema alone. Hopefully if this one does well, it will motivate them to do the other games as well. I would love a chance to get the Rogue Trader books, and I am missing the Tome of Excess for Black Crusade.

This does appear to be every DH1.0 and DH2.0 book. The only missing items would be the Free RPG Day adventure that introduced everyone to DH, the Lost Dataslate for The Lathe Worlds, and things like that.

Now that FFG and GW have divorced, is FFG created material still canonical? Regardless of whether GW says yea or nay, I will treat it as canonical, but I was wondering what the OFFICIAL GW position is.

GW's position has always been "Everything is canon and nothing is canon."
There are very few examples of them wiping things away wholesale (like pre-2nd Ed 40K fluff).

Andy Hoare has been busily mining the material he wrote for the Rogue Trader RPG for use in Necromunda. Phyrr Cats are from the RPG, for example, and the Xenarh Death Arc in the Book of Judgement.

Like how the Squats were an species and a playable army and got "squatted"? Or how there was an Imperial ARMY with mole mortars, rapier gun platforms, ( IIRC, the Imperial Army had Landspeeders and jetbikes), which then vanished for a while and came back as the Imperial GUARD, but without the units previously mentioned? I do remember that Space Marines had jetbikes; for some reason "Mk 14 Bullock jetbike has stuck in my head from the RT era. Oh, and Zoats are gone. Well, maybe the Zoats and Squats can show up in a Blackstone Fortress expansion.
As regards Dark Heresy, Mr-Culexus is my favorite W40k fan artist. His art is passable, but I enjoy his comics and characters. If you visit his gallery and check out the folder titled "Verloon Hoop" he has 69 comics depicting a Dark Heresy game he was in. (Unfortunately, he has been busy and so although the game continued, the comics have not).

Are you trying to make a point here, or something?
I specifically pointed out that the pre-2nd Ed stuff is an example of stuff being wiped out wholesale, and then you just came back at me and listed a bunch of RT-era stuff. So... we agree?
