As this is technically the NOVA thread, although I'm in no doubt that this will disappear under a wave of posts about Shrike's helmet, here's a bunch of stuff that Steamforged announced for Guild Ball last night.

How in the world do those Mason sculpts keep getting worse and worse with every rescuplt? Of the bunch, the only one I like is a Tower who is actually... towering.

I like Honour, Tower and Hammer over their existing standard sculpts, but most are the same as they already were? But then the Masons aren't really my thing from any angle.

I'm more baffled that they exist in resin at all given the KO box gives you those six and the Brewers (which were also in the seminar, just didn't nab a pic) for the same price (or much less in many cases) and get yourself all the tokens and a decent quality play surface.

Still, availability is a big issue so if this eases that then it's all fine with me.

Mallet, Harmony, Vet Harmony, Brick, Chisel and Granite are all the same as their most recent. In the case of Brick I hope the detail is better, as its otherwise close enough to the original to be a wash. Mallet's pose is just awful though, especially compared to the (tiny) original and while Harmony really benefits from being in the right scale, her model is really flat and awkward compared to the metal.

Marbles looks better than the plastic, but feels off to me somehow. Honour is probably the one all around improvement. I really like that sculpt, though I have 3 of her already. Hammer oddly now looks like Tower, baring almost the exact same pose. What bugs me about it is that generally speaking I like that the old Guild Ball models had a sense of motion to them, but ever since the switch to plastic we've mostly had people standing around shaking their fists. Flint is baffling in this regard, as he's always been far more mobile.

The Masons just frustrate me because I love the character designs and the original sculpts are some of my favorite in the range, but they're so hilariously tiny (even compared to other early models) that they're hard to go with. The resculpts though have repeatedly disappointed me, simply because the game has lost so much of its sense of motion that made it look so great on the table despite not having many models or terrain elements for this very passive, 2D look.

@LunarSol

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from, but then the flip side is some of those sculpts were hilariously tricky to assemble (speaking as somebody with almost 30 years practice and zero issues with metal minis.) oMinx nearly stole my sanity with the hands attaching at the (tiny, tiny) wrists. I still marvel at how well Grace has held up in my bag, especially as she's spent so much time in there until the last errata! Then there were the models that had tiny contact points on the base like the first Mist, who will happily fall over to a gentle draft. I've got the resin alt thankfully, both scaled up and with plenty of motion thanks to the cape/rags.

Even recently, Yukai being stood in that very interesting, albeit (deliberately) static, pose meant I had to run a pin through an ankle joint barely wider than the pin up to their knee.

I have to confess though most of the alt sculpts in the resin rereleases haven't really compelled me to ditch my metals. I'd like a replacement for Angel and the two Sirens from the Fishermen, but not with the same drive that I had to have the Shark in the KS pose.

Guys, people who don't like or listen to music you'd consider 'emo' also have fringes. Oh em gee, right? I've seen popular jocky types with hair like that right down to stoner wasters.

Marine heads with hair that aren't the weird space wolves ones or crappy BA bowl cuts is to be commended. Not everyone's a fan of those ridiculous tiny mohawks (what space marine is really cultivating that? They'd either shave it all or grow it).

The short mohawks were probably inspired by American airborne troops in WW2. Many of them sported mohawks and warpaint when dropping into Normandy.

Dunno, but if it is, they'll have to have something to fill in the divet that the helmet on his belt no doubt sits in.

Im slightly disappointed in the Warcry announcement. It feels too much like Commanders for Killteam, at least at first glance. I do like the option to hunt giant monsters though, those will no doubt be fun missions, even more so if you're fighting a rival warband while trying to kill a beast.

Otherwise, the releases all look interesting at least.

Would have hoped to see more about Psychic Awakening for 40k, sort of an anemic announcement.

What are you blathering on about? The vast majority of Primaris models released thus far are generic as feth - exceptions currently are four special characters, one special unit (Calgar's Drinking Buddies) and five members of the Legion of Lieutenants (whose decoder rings are in the post).

even ignoring the possibility of it impeding his vision.
Funny how realism only crops up to complain about a model someone doesn't like, but otherwise the absurdly impractical and downright horrible 40k designs get a pass based on "grimdark aesthetic".

The short mohawks were probably inspired by American airborne troops in WW2.

Surely they'd be inspired by the same source the WW2 americans were inspired by, namely the native warriors which sported the cut?

Finally the 3rd Alchemist Captain !

still think the move into all resin all the time is a bad call by SFG, yes the models are nice but being a niche game where is buy in is now on par with the Geedubs seems a little questionable, the metals where about the same but the three man starters and then singles reduced sticker shock a fair bit

I like a couple of the new alchemist sculpts but wont be getting a box and then have to faff with the trade page or ebay to offload the rest
