Last actual mini from 2019, #123.

I painted one figure after this, but only dipped him on the 31st, so drying/flat-coating and finishing the base did not occur until today, so he's number one for 2020 instead.

Ohh, you're getting this because I got a fancy macro lense for Xmas, and wanted to test it out!

I must say, it's pretty nice, but very unforgiving - those closeups expose every little jolt of the hand, misplaced brush tip - and how dusty my apartment is!!!

A Crusader Squad Templar - finished him quite quickly, hopefully I can maintain pace in 2020, and inch closer to finishing that army!

There's nothing more depressing than seeing a miniature I painted in glorious un-shrunk 4300x3600 pixels...ugh...

I hear you both--amazing how much even just zoom level or thumbnail size changes how happy I am with one of my paint jobs.

My #72 and last of 2019, an Oathsworn miniatures wildcat sharpshooter.

I painted Sabine Wren for Legion as my end of the year project:

I picked up the habit of having a big end of the year project when I painted my Baneblade way back when because I get this drop in productivity in fall and winter and usually feel like getting that one last thing done for that year and end it with a bang. Sabine isn't comparable in size, but she has a lot of tiny little details to paint. And she uses ALL THE COLORS! I'm glad I got a couple of sunny days over Christmas to get her painted.

It's certainly something you have to train yourself to look at a certain way. I appreciate unforgiving closeups for spotting mistakes and getting better, but you really have to keep the actual model size in mind when you look at the picture. It's all too easy to see all the messy parts that you believe you should have done smoother when at actual size those are the parts that make the paintjob work.

They all got their final basing and transfers done in the same lot, but the last one a brush touched was the aggressor with the blue/green shoulderpad.

Nothing like a zoom to show the flaws, I agree. I just remind myself the intended vieing distance is arms-length and move on. I paint for the table, not the showcase.

Last completed models for 2019. I painted some more but didn't get them completed(indeed didn't have all I needed that I even COULD complete them).

Also wrapped up the paint a warband challenge local LOTR group had going. Gave me bit over 1000 pts big moria army with total of 69 models.

Captain(bottom left) base needs to be replacing. Due to mistake I made base is somewhat damaged but need 25mm round base replacement.

I batch paint most of the time so I don't remember exactly which one of these marines was my last of 2019.

Not exactly done in terms of detail work, but I hustled to get these "done" to tabletop standard in time for a holiday game and to clear the decks for the new Sororitas Army Box. They're the official last painted-to-playable models of the year, though nothing compared to the excellent standard set further up the thread!

This was my last mini of the year. I got back home and picked up a Lord of Contagion sprue last year-ish and I finally gotten round to painting it up.

Decided I would try relatively fast techniques like drybrushing with a limited palette and this is what I've come up over a day's painting. C&C is very much appreciated!

Sir Hekhtur, knight scion. Would've usually saved him for a challenge month, but I finished December's entry so quickly that I needed to paint something.

Holy banana! Can you name the most important techniques I need to learn to progress towards painting like this?

He he, bananas FTW...I'm glad you like them.

No fancy techniques used, it's mostly glazing and layering, so using very thin paints to achieve smooth transition. For Infinity minis brush control is essential, cause of the tiny details they have.
Try to strive for as much contrast as you can. IMO neatness and contrast are the most importat in miniature painting.

My last minis of 2019 were my Fangs, for the game Kharn-Ages, I guess.

I've started 2020 with some Maggotkin of Nurgle and a couple of conversion for Kharn-Ages and AOS

...would you happen to have a link to somewhere I could buy those? Won't happen this month, but those VERY much pique my interest. Paint jobs are very solid too.

Sure do : https://www.tgcmcreation.fr/en/store/kharn-ages/

They are the "Fangs", but I invite you to also check the other Factions (Kharns, Khérops, Black Guild...)

And if you like skirmish game, the basic rules are available for free under (downloads)
