A bolt thrower as a Cities release would be nice as a sign that book might not be a one and done dumping ground for legacy sculpts.

Still going with arrows of some kind. Even the best GW models with sculpted fletching tend to be very 2D. The very bottom of each seems to have a nocking point on it, but seeing as how it's not y'know...a huge model it's filled in plastic.

Personal hope against hope is that it's a new type of Vanguard hero that gets a Gryph-Hound bond ala the Castellant and Veritant.

Zhrukal wrote:I agree these don't look like arrows or bolts. The fletchings are all wrong and they lack a notch. My guess (for what that's worth) is a female stormcast javalin thrower.
The part in the top appears to be a plume (or hair) of some sort; I can't imagine these things being big enough to be javelins (or ballista bolts) - almost certainly just (weird) arrows.
Voss wrote:Yeah. Quiver of 'arrows' for sigmarines, sadly.

Puzzled by the fairly poor fletching shaped like lightning and comets, though. Metal fletching is just... Odd.
Well, the new Escher archers also have metal fletching. And the Sigmarine Judicators have no fletching, no nock, just a weird ring that supposedly is practical in some way or another. Besides, we now have Elves with triple-stringed bows - if realism in weapon design ever was of any concern in Warhammer, that ship has sailed, sunk, and gotten new life as a piece of Idoneth scenery.
In short, I think I'd have to agree with the below:
MobileSuitRandom wrote:Are these even arrows? They have some kind of rounded nub at the end instead of a notch. Can't think of anything else they could be, tho, and none of the other Sigmarine projectiles make any sense, either, sooo ...
Just because they don't seem sensible arrows, does in no way indicate that they won't be arrows. The aforementioned plume does suggest they will have a quiver on the back, rather than the waist as the Judicators do.

I wonder if the unit will get special ammunition, a la Deathwatch. "This arrow has unique fletching, so it causes lightning to strike whatever it hits."

Or it's no different to, say, the Melusai and Namarti Reavers. The fletching on those isn't as good as it should be but we're talking about plastic here.

The main issues I see with this fletching is purely a design choice; it has little to do with material/manufacturing limitations. Plastic figures have been able to have reasonable three-dimensional three-feathered fletching for decades, with recent versions increasingly realistic. If GW prefers to instead make arrows with metal, two-flighted twin-tailed comet-shaped fletching, that's down to them.

It reminds me of the weapons from some of the warcry warbands. I'd say a decent chance of.it turning out to be chaos.

The broken/bent nail and metals look very similar to the recently-teased club, so guessing they're both from the same faction. Looks very 'Destruction' to me, rather than Skaven or Chaos.

Skaven is a good thought (Moulder rather than Skryre), but orcs/goblins equally so.

Somewhat intrigued to see what comes of this.

That’d also a possibility.

My run down, based on established aesthetics, and in no particular order?

1. Skaven
2. Goblin
3. Undead
4. House Cawdor
5. Ogre

So any faction that has a run-down/scavenger look?

Except Nurgle 'cause they look run-down/scavenged AND putrescent.

I'm going to go with Cawdor. It doesn't look super Necromunda-y, but Cawdor models all have random nails jutting out. Could be part of their eventual expansion

Eh. Its not completely outside the realm of possibility, but it looks like its made from fantasy scrap metal, not 40k scrap metal.
Especially the nails. They wouldn't look out of place in a barn built anywhere from 8th to 19th century, but they would look out of place in the 40k underhive.

Edit: well, after taking a close look at the Cawdor gang, I may well be wrong. There are some severely retro bits on some of those weapons, especially the crossbow and polearms. I was thinking of far more scavenged buzz saws and similar than is actually the case.

Cawdor is a strong guess.

There's also been some heavy hinting at something like undead pirates the past few days, could easily be a nautical zombie weapon.

What hinting was there for "undead pirates"? Must have missed this.

I know it's a thing people always put up whenever something vaguely water-y or not well maintained shows up but nothing has panned out as of yet.

So, with the events of Broken Realms: Morathi? We've got some room to do both. There's definitely a lot of room to grow...and yes, Bolt Throwers are mentioned. Just like they were in the Lumineth book in fact!
