I'd like to see the scenario boxsets make a return, even if just via MtO. It's my hobby goal for the new year (and for the next two as well) to paint up all of my relevant Middle-Earth miniatures, and it'd be particularly nice for me if GW paid a similar sort of attention to the range.

If those metal Rangers return, I am so in. The two named Rangers from FW were a commission payment from a friend of mine and holy hell. Gorgeous.

Yeah, 100% Easterlings. New Dragon Knights? Though the knives look too small, so probably something new.

Probably a new unit. That looks like a three pack FW set. Unless of course they get a two pack of new riders like the Dunlendings.

I want to say they're an assassin unit based on the weapons, but all that armour makes me hope not

Nice that the Easterlings will be getting some love though

The very naĂŻve part of me hopes for a Rhovanion book during the War of the Ring; Erebor (under Dain) + a 'modern' Dale force versus the Easterlings. It would get them to shift some of those older Hobbit boxes at least.

Man, lot of us are waiting for something like this...

New Easterlings are fairly well-timed for me, as I just picked up Amdur and an Easterling Command set to flesh out my leadership options for my small Easterling army.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

This would be fantastic. I've wanted to see some sort of delve into this campaign for a long time, as it's just appendices in the books. Lots of room to do cool stuff, and I love some LotR Dwarves and Easterlings.

Any way you slice it new Easterlings makes me want to get back into SBG.

Easterlings could certainly do with another troop choice or two, so that's good news.

Looks like sword, dagger and throwing daggers, which I'm not a huge fan of (from a realism point of view), but at least it's something different.

War for Dale/Erebor at the end of the War of the Ring would be an excellent setting indeed. Erebor can be some combination of the plastics and Iron Hills troops with maybe a new "old Dain" and Thorin Stonehelm (his son and successor), Dale could get a new contemporary character in the forms of King Brand and Prince Bard II with maybe a new troop choice and a model for a banner or so, and then some similar reinforcements for the Easterlings: new character, new troop type. Could be nice.

That would be big and great news, but who's to say these are plastic? The fact that there are 3 of them makes me instantly think it's a FW blister.

King of the Dead was a 3 model box, with two Heralds.

Agreed that it's more likely FW, but there's definitely been three foot-based models in plastic recently.

Oh true. Still even as resin would be fresh release though not first non-hero. But at least first human non-hero either way

Well this is a nice surprise for the new year. Both versions of unarmoured Haldir, Glorfindel and Gildor and most importantly, the mtd wraiths.

Oh, blimey, I've been buying up some of the early metals in preparation for the 20th Anniversary, and was eyeing off all of those elves on eBay. Nice way to save a bit of money, and a good sign for the year that they're bringing back narrative-relevant sculpts

I'm trying to avoid buying new minis until many are painted, but holy crap! I'll need all of these. Especially if this is a limited-time release. Plus, my LOTR stuff is my big project for the year.

Definitely want the mount Doom frodo/Sam/gollum, and the dead marsh corpses. They will look sick encased in resin...

Seeing the Dead Marsh Spectres come back makes me wish they would bring out a Shadows of Mordor/War kit for the Ranger and the Spectre. Would be an amazing opportunity to do a halvsies kit of see-through plastic 'overlays' for the Spectre!

I think these are just returning to production. It doesn't imply that they're a MtO release or in any way limited.

Well now, apparently the saturday preview was just that, a preview. Looks like there's a lot more coming.

The bottom items are listed as being released on the 23rd but GW are currently doing fortnightly releases so nothing should be released that week.

That applies to new releases. As these are just returning stock, it probably doesn't apply to them.

Amazing. I just bought orc armour frodo and Sam on eBay for a packet... Nightmare. But they are original blister pack so it's not too bad.

I almost know the feeling, I've been watching those cave trolls on eBay for a while, they just didn't quite make the priority soon enough

Does leave me a bit unsure about the other boxed sets I've been eyeing off too, if Amon Hen is back, I wonder if Weathertop will be too

Well, now I won't have to feel too bad about cutting up a spare CĂrdan.

Frodo and Sam in orc armour, phew, those sure wouldn't have made my list of things expected to return any time soon. Were they featured in a Quest of the Ringbearer scenario by any chance? It's the only reason I can think of to bring them back specifically, while many other figures are still out of production, and the team is limited in how many products they are allowed to have in the range.
