Terror-Watt is massive!! I’ll get a scale shot with a Stompa Mob soon

Dark brow wash today:

I’m going to let it dry and then bit it with a black wash tomorrow

Black wash completed making the whole model look like it has been set on fire at some point... but the different hues of pigment that the washes brought out are spectacular!!

Tomorrow I’ll be working on mounting the model on its final base!

Thanks! Even with only a few colours completed he is looking amazing!

This was a lot of fun!

I have always loved squashing the pointy ears... but today it meant I could then complete this:

So tomorrow I start of the metallic drybrushing!

Started the dry brushing today... no pics for 3-4 days sorry until I get the drybrushing finished. It’s adding a top layer of colour to all the metal panels and making the recesses even darker! I’m very happy with the results so far.

Mork Almighty! You're a mad genius!

Love the smooshed grav tank. Looking forward to even paintier progress pics. Such an impressive project!

Thanks, that’s high praise indeed!

Finished the metalic drybrushing today in a big push:

Sorry for the crappy light

This gives a much better feel

And now with that portion completed, tomorrow I’ll start adding the base layers of colour to the main panels!

I was more excited to see this enter the painting phase than any other post on Dakka.

I'm very pleased to see you've gotten there and will continue to keep tabs on the progress.

Thank you very much, high praise indeed! I can’t wait till the painting is over so I can start building the rest of the neglected Ork army

Thanks, it’s mostly due to a covid enforced break and a series of rolling holidays

More progress on ‘seam welding’ the outer shoulder pad Ork Powa Field arrays to the checked pads, they were sitting to proud for my liking:

This and a coloured paint audit revealed a few significant holes in the paint pallet

Rapid progress here ThorNZ2020! If you’re missing paints, it’s Orky, so surely you can put another colour on? That said, something that big would probably take all of my paints to cover!

Oh and can you imagine the size of the welder to make a fillet weld that size?!?

Thanks, I’ll just make do! The welder would be massive!

If you say it everyday it gets you in the right mindset!

Today I pushed and started the Chequers and experimented with colours over base layers:

This means my reds go better over white with only ‘2 thin coats‘ over the base for a good result!

Nice work on the checks! I bet there about the same size as the ladz’s bases. I reckon he’d Krump a Warlord!

In 2 weeks time I should have it pictured facing off against a warhound titan

The Chequers are about 10mm square... and I hope so!

Today I was playing with more colour combos for the colour blocking of the armoured panels:

I want Terror-Watt to look red and blue (Evil Sunz and Deffskullz) so I’m doing one area in ‘reds’

I hate this part of a paint where you just mindlessly applying paints (sometimes up to 3 coats) before you get onto the fun weathering, rusts, washes and stains

The coloured panels are really bringing out the wonderful texture work you've done around the edge of each panel.

Thanks, but there will eventually be one more layer of wash/grime over it all, so in the end there should hopefully be even more texture!

More good work today solid blocking the coloured armour panels:

I would love to get all the coloured armour panels completed before the APOC game in 13 Days.... the countdown has begun!

It‘s so nice seeing all the colors popping up on it. Great work so far and good luck getting it done for the game!

Thanks, it’s great to get more and more colours on!

ONLY 12 days to go!

More solid work on colour blocking, I have the technique sorted now so I can do 12-14 panels a session ATM:

Love the bright colour but it’s a bit bold ATM, it will die down a bit after another wash and then grime and rust!

Wow! He’s really coming together now. Did you say he’ll be getting some blue as well? Is that going to be dotted around or will there be any mainly blue bits?

Thanks, after doing a few test pallets the blue did not work, to far away from the red in the colour wheel... but purple was a lot closer!!!

More work over the last 2 days to base colour the front of Terror-Watt:

Some colours need another coat to flatten the pigment pooling, but I’m very happy with the result.

The main coloured panels were all done with a brush and NOT an airbrush! Due to the many colours the masking required for an airbrush would have taken twice as long!!

More solid work today finishing the right side:

With arm on:

I also completed the Chequers on the front hull.

At this rate I’ll get the feet coloured up before the APOC game on Friday night!

Thanks, it’s all coming together well. I won’t be washing before the game, I need more colour and textures first!

More solid work today on the Left hand side hull panels:

This worked out well with a good colour balance, which means a full frontal:

I love the Chequers! Tomorrow I’ll be working on the coloured panels on the feet.

Looking awesome. But you do know what happens to well painted models in their first game, don't you? Hope he is able to wreak havoc, only a few days left for his big stage. I hope your gaming table is well-supported

Thanks, I’m counting on it!

Today is a big day in the life of Terror-Watt... all the main coloured panels are completed! These pics are all pre grime, dirt, weathering and rust so look a bit bright. Other models included for scale:

I love the view from the top as it reveals a lot of otherwise hidden work

Simply awe-inspiring. I can't wait to see the weathering! It looks so crisp and clean right now, still beautiful, but not quite as Orky
