So why exactly do Grots get 6++?

Lucky blue paint was already really stretching it, but just being a grot seems beyond silly.

Because for every 5 grots you see, there's a secret 6th grot sneakin' about somewhere!

...Also, grot tanks already had a 6++, for being a rolling scrap pile, so I guess just apply that to killa kanz and mek gunz.

Pretty sure you're better off taking the "Dread Mob" Subkultur and bringing big meks with KFFs. It's practically the same thing but benefits the vehicles a lot better.

But I suppose it depends on what sorts of extra things it might get. All of them seem to have unique artifacts, stratagems, and command traits

So, there's a difference between the VIgilius specialist detachments and subkulturs.

Subkulturs replace your kultur (i.e., evil sunz) while the vigilus detachments are just a stratagem, a relic, and a WL trait you unlock for 1CP.

you can take the subkultur here and also buy the dread waaagh specialist detachment.

Unless you have some other source of info on a dread mob subkultur? in which case, share please!

Oh I must have missed the part where the subkultur replaced kultur. It talks about "Specialist Mobs" in the article. Dread Mob is listed as a "Specialist Detachment".

It's all just so similar wording. So you fully replace a kultur with the subkultur then? Or does it just add on?

Unknown for sure, but almost certainly , given how all the replacements for "chapter tactics" style rules work like that.

Most of the stuff they've put out through PA have been customizable chapter tactics. it looks kinda like orks will be only able to choose one of these, but that it will be more potent, but only apply to a smaller subset of units/weapons.

that last bit is speculation on my part. Most other factions have gotten a big list of traits, and you get to pick 2 except for a few that say you only get that one if you pick it (because they're stronger, or supposed to be anyway).

If PA wasn't written all at once, GW might have modified the release after noticing that people have been using these custom chapter tactics to make very strong combos. Because, of course they have been, that's obviously what people are going to do. All the named eldar craftworlds have mostly been supplanted by the mighty "Master Crafters/Masters of Concealment" craftworld. I also fully expect the hordes of brand-new fluff loving catachan fans to quickly abandon their rambo kick and jump on the "Vehicles Reroll number of shots/Vehicles overwatch on 5s when within 3" of eachother" trait combo for their artillery gunlines.

Specialist Detachments, the kind GW released with Vigilus, were kind of unpopular, and most people didn't see them as super useful except when they could be used for broken combos. I think GW kind of abandoned the idea and decided custom army traits were more interesting/fun.

Well Makari is a grot HQ. Sadly, that's still pretty limiting as he's unique. 2 grot HQs or 1 generic grot HQ would allow for grot battalion detachments, if not brigades as there is no grot elite unit.

he's legends so some will argue he doesn't count. meanwhile I'd argue if you're running a grot army you'd proably doing so for a fun with your friends army not to be hyper competitive so thats really the kind of thing legends is almost for

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"

Probably because any build-a-trait combination would be better than Snakebites 6+ FNP trait

that or GW thinks Orks don't really have lore support for small little custom clans etc. so far GW is only giving rules for "build a bear" factions to factions it makes sense to. it does seem odd we didn't get rules for CSM renegade warbands, but I'm a theory that F&F was aimed specificly at the Legions and that War of the Spider will be a chaos renegades update.

Not everyone got "build a trait" stuff. This has been how the books are since we went from Phoenix to Faith & Fury.

By a country mile. I've never considered buying the miniature from the first images, but this has me genuinely tempted. I'm always surprised what a differently angled head can do for a miniature. It's probably the one conversion I perform most frequently.

maybe but we know Bile is returning for War of the Spider, despite people claiming it;ll be EC focused I find myself doubtful, he lacks the EC's keyword, and the ECs got a decent amount of content in F&F. a "create your own warband" ruleset seems to be logical

Or, they could have left it out of Ministorum manual and just added it in Saga of the Beast so you would have complained about that the manual needs yet another FAQ, etc.

No? The point of CA19 is to summarise and collate all the points costs from the previous year and to apply balance changes. Why would a book released in December of 2019 have points for a book released in March of 2020? Now, if they left it out of CA20 and had to errata it in (as I suspect they will have to do for SW stuff for a 4th year running), then I feel I could rightly criticise that.

Nice to see that Makari is on the Ghaz sprues. I thought he would be, but there's always that niggling doubt with GW that they might try to put him in a clampack and get an extra $50 out of you.

As the grot army player, I would actually prefer him on his own, but I never expected them to do so. He's basically a part of Ghaz with his buffs.

Although he's also Goff so I wouldn't be able to run him anyway if I wanted my kultur buffs still,
