I don't remember hand flamers, thunder hammers, Librarians, plasma weaponry, and power fists in Call of Duty, or them being tacticool.

But, come to think of it, I don't remember massive swords on Scouts either, the equivalent unit to the Infiltrators/Incursors/Eliminators.

So, unless you're implying that the Phobos range is all that the Primaris have (which would be absurd, and horrifically incorrect), I'm not sure how important those above units having giant swords is, or how it's suddenly a giant faux-pas.

Do note, I definitely do want a Primaris CC unit. Shields, preferably. Also, I'd have loved Reivers to have something like combat axes or hatchets, just something with a bit more oomf. At least their weapon has the same profile as a chainsword, and it's not hard to do a weapon swap conversion.

By shields I assume you mean storm shields? So a 2W, 2A model with a 3++? Assuming storm shields remain 2 points that's 19ppm on an intercessor with a chain sword. Looking for some baby terminators are you?
Storm shields, combat shields, boarding shields, I don't care. I just want shields, and I don't care how expensive they are in game.

Ah, so more about models than rules. Personally I always preferred the look of boarding shields. Not sure what price and rules for them would be in 8th edition.

Aggressor equivalents would be the perfect profile to try and represent a shield with that additional +1T/W. I would think an Alexis Pollux kinda thing, with a Shield, Fist (or Sword, as the Custodes ones are pretty darn big) and a giant gun coming out of one of them or both!

Maybe. Personally, since intercessors already take design cues from mark IV armour, I'd like to see a cc primaris shield unit that takes aspects from mark III armour, like breacher squads.

Though another primaris unit that borrows from the hh units would make me a bit jealous that csm still have nothing similar.

Actually, since I'm a total sucker for Mk3, I'm just using Mk3 Boarding Shield dudes for my Intercessor stand-ins.

There should be an assault intercessor unit that has these weapon options:

- Chainsword + Heavy bolt pistol
- 2x chainsword
- Chainsword + shield (that gives +1 armor save or +1T)
- 2h weapon with extra str and ap

There could be a Troops version, and a Fast Version with jump packs. Perhaps elite version with power weapons.

As long as it's not chainglaives. It's already annoying enough that disco lords get them but Night Lords don't.

Unless it's a Night Lords disco lord of course. But Night Lords shouldn't have daemons so....

Given GW pumps weapon scale by 150+%, they're steak knives. They look smaller than the ones Scouts have.

Soo. . . . Vanguard with +1W.

Or Bikes with a crappier gun.

You made me curious about that so I checked. Reivers knives and scout knives are the exact same size.

The general theme of Primaris is that they have similar roles but they don't overlap too much to invalidate other units so they'd never do that. Also c'mon even you'd fawn over Primaris welding eviserators

I’d love a kit that gave you the choice of eviscerator, large power claymore, or great power axe.

Where are the primaris bikers? That would be a great unit to put melee weapons on.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

While I would prefer jump pack choppy guys, bikes make more sense from a market POV.

They have gone out of their way not to overtly step on toes. Bikes have always been the more shooty marine FA choice (compared to assault marines, etc). But having Primaris bikes as a CC unit would let them exist with old marines, without directly competing with them.

If they go with inceptor like jump units, and want to make them CC, they would probably either want to go sword and board, or a large hafted weapon. I just don’t see them getting both hands on a narrow grip weapon like the existing evisorators. Heavy thunder hammers could be a lot of fun. Bring “Meteoric Descent” and “Crushing Charge” to a new level.

If they go with a more light weight assault unit, based on the supressor flight system, I think giant chanswords could be a whole lot of awesome.

Not a chance

For starters I already have Terminators with Thunder Hammer and Storm Shields.

This is what I want, Close combat options for Inceptors (I suppose something like this might come from the rumoured Gravis release) and an option for Reivers to have power weapons so that they’re actually a threat in assault and I’d be very happy.

There is what, five? guys in that pic who don’t have swords?

And I woudn’t put it past the ancient to have one somewhere. And the chaplain gets a free pass for having his crozius.

So just the 3 gravis guys with the melta, maybe the banner.

Let the stabbing commence!

Honestly, everything in that picture excites me more than it should. The gravis guys the least as models, but as a primaris AV unit, welcome to the roster.

It’s going to be some new bespoke gun. Bigger then a normal melta, but not as big as a multimelta. Not a lot of room in the design space to work with. I’m guessing assault 1 18” normal melta statline. Maybe a special rule on the unit, like shooting twice if standing still.

yep there is a close up of the mohawk guy. it is a melta weapon.

At worse he looks cool. but I also think that such kits always come with 2 weapon sets. So maybe the other one is going to be some cool grav cannon or a vulkite thingy.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Depends if this is the monopose starter. In which case you’ll be able to get the melta cheep, but if you want the better weapon options, you will need to get the full priced, full option kit when it eventually comes out.

It's extremely unlikely to not be the monopose starter.

However we might just have seen what the Suppressors are going to get dual-kitted with in the form of these "Hellfuries".

These guys all look pretty ornate.
There seems to be a focus on melee weaponry (shields and swords, oh my!)
Bikers, and they're groundbound too!

Aside from jump pack melee, what are the Primaris lacking compared to oldMarines?

I don't think the Suppressors will be coupled with those Gravis guys with meltas.

Suppressors don't wear Gravis armour, and fly, unlike these guys (who I'm fairly sure are Hellfuries). A combined kit between the two would have so many redundant bits, it would be impractical for GW.

Considering the melta squad (likely Hellfuries) are wearing Gravis armor and Suppressors are in Omnis, which are very different from one another, there is like 0% chance of that.

Also, remember when you said that fuzzy picture of Primaris bikes was just either a Photoshop or came from and existing codex? Yeah, how you feeling about that one now..?

Weirder stuff has been doubled up than a kit which requires a Grav-Chute(which is just a backpack topper at best), a variant gun, and different bits bolted onto the lower legs and front torso/wrists.

Also, remember when you said that fuzzy picture of Primaris bikes was just either a Photoshop or came from and existing codex? Yeah, how you feeling about that one now..?

Probably the same way you'll feel realizing that "Omnis pattern" literally has Gravis and Phobos bits. If you want to talk smack?

It helps to not be wrong right before it.

For the record? I never said it came from "an existing codex". I said it looked familiar and like something from one of the supplemental bits.

I have a supressor sitting on my desk, the only part of gravis armor they have is the feet. and in the case of supressors they use the "Gravis flight feet" we see on inceptors, so they literally share no parts with a standard gravis ground unit.
